Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
Well one day of low calories and NO junk of any kind including any fried food, and my band is tighter this morning. I was formerly able to eat canned chicken with a tablespoon of mayo. Today only a third of the can. That's okay. Good actually. If I get hungry later I have protein shakes and almonds at my desk. I was looking longingly at those almonds yesterday. Lol

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
Still catching up on the videos. Yesterday I semi fasted I guess. My veggie salad at dinner was around 6pm. That was my last food for the day and I was under 500 total. No lie, I went to bed hungry but excited. The mental component is real. I knew I could eat "tomorrow" so it was very doable. Again this morning I am glad I am not weighing myself. Even though yesterday was a low cal day, I'm relieved I don't have that scale arbitrarily deciding to show me Water weight or an unrealistic loss. Sunday will be soon enough. Today is real food. I'm looking forward to keeping it clean.

Lack of Support
This is for YOU. Be strong and do not let anyone convince you it's not right for you. I have no regrets.

You know you've had WLS when ___________________ ! ! ! ^_^
Get the smaller one. I bought two bathing suits in April and the smaller one is already loose.

Banders #6
*smacks Arlene upside the head* Now be kind to yourself. Pronto! We are all struggling with something. Just get up and dust yourself off and put one foot in front of the other. Kudos to you for positive actions today.

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
I missed that tidbit. I watched one video yesterday but not by the inventor of the diet. Oops. Well I guess I have some research to do before Thursday ! Too hungry to skip my dinner shake today. I have 250 calories left. Looking forward to them! Live and learn.

My doctor says that gastric banding is a waste of time.
Find a doctor who supports the type of surgery YOU intend to get. If they are not on board they are not the right doctor to band you.

My doctor says that gastric banding is a waste of time.
Maybe a waste of his time. But not mine. Thrilled with my decision.

Go to www.U njury.com. I got the chocolate. You order them by the individual packet but for travel it's so worth it. I hate sickly sweet stuff and this brand is not sweet. You only taste the cocoa. And it's fine with water. I use a little less than eight ounces and it is really good.

Pregnant after band!
Congratulations on your growing family! Please take the time to care for yourself. You will have more energy if you do. You'll also have a personal goal that is so important. As moms we often put our own care last but it's not a good idea to put our goals and dreams on the shelf. Best wishes and check in with your bariatric doctor for a refresher!

Is anyone out there in "The Green Zone?"
I'm narrowing in on green but not quite there yet. However I do have many many days where I am completely satisfied four hours between meals. If. If. If that meal was high in Protein and if. If. If it's not head hunger messing me up. For example I had lots of head hunger this month. I know it because real hunger feels different. Real hunger starts with a grumbling in my belly and a gnawing empty feeling and funny enough is not always accompanied by appetite. Head hunger is edgy antsy I gotta eat something even if I just ate something five minutes ago. It's restless and has nothing at all to do with satiety or nutrition. We will battle head hunger forever. I'm learning tools to fight it. I'm just very grateful my band truly helps with the real hunger.

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
Just had my second shake of the day. Un jury makes a great individual packet that I bought back when I was planning my vacation in May. Our office has small water bottles in the machine, so I drank some water and shook up the packet with the remaining 8 oz of water. Lunch is done!

"In between" sizes . . . . grrr
My best friend commented on my "tiny ass" in jeans. I said yeah it would be great if I could see it but it's behind me. All I see is the baggy belly in front. Getting smaller but still there. If I didn't have this big belly roll I bet I'd be in much smaller jeans by now. Oh well. I'm still happy with my progress.

Women critical of other women
Pick the most urgent things to get done today and focus only on those. Get OUTSIDE on your meal break. Get some oxygen and walk even if it's just around the block or building. Breathe some air. Hydrate. Plan something comforting when you get home. Light a candle or take an hour to read or listen to music. You are changing your life and you've already started. Soon your attitude will start to catch up to your body changes. You're worth this and NOBODY can take it away from you!!!

About the scale
I'm no expert. All I know is what I've read here from other WLS patients. But it's a modified intermittent fast. Basically you fast twice a week and eat normally the other five days. YouTube has a lot of videos. For the fasting days women eat or drink 500 calories. Men 600. That's it. Mondays and Thursdays seem like popular days for the fasting. For some reason it gives the body a reset and helps weight loss. I thought I'd try it since it's easy and not too different from when I have to go on liquids after a band adjustment. Just calorie driven rather than liquid driven.

About the scale
I started a thread for my 5:2 and no-weigh week here: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/318937-starting-52-and-no-scale-this-week/ All are welcome!

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
I am starting the 5:2 intermittent fast today (Mondays and Thursdays 500 calories, other days normal healthy food choices). I am also not weighing myself until Sunday. The first thing I noticed this morning was relief about not fearing whether the scale went up or down a pound this morning. My plan is to rely on Protein shakes today because they are easy to control and satisfy me. I'm going to post my experiences in this thread. All are welcome to join me.

About the scale
Ack! I'm on the fence about it. I see the merits of ditching the scale. However, I avoided the scale for years. Once I started losing weight this year, the losses buoyed me up. I got a little "high" every couple of days watching the numbers drop. This month, not so much. My food has been all over the map and I'm down and up and down and up the same five pounds. I'm afraid to stop weighing because I'm afraid I'll give in to overeating every day. I'm still tracking my food in MyFitnessPal and being very thorough. Not too happy when the numbers show I've eaten 1500 calories or sometimes more when my doctor wanted me to be consuming so much less. I haven't asked my doctor's office for any eating guidelines lately. Afraid they'll say 800 calories a day again. I haven't talked to the NUT in months. I've been thinking of trying the 5:2 fasting thing this week. Maybe I'll go for it tomorrow and Thursday and ditch the scale until next Sunday. Ok no scale until next Sunday. Yikes. Haven't not weighed since my vacation in May.
