  1. The weight loss alone gave me incredible energy. Even after thirty pounds down I noticed it. We don't realize how exhausting it is for our bodies to carry the weight. Combine that with the draggy feeling from poor sleep and hypertension and I wonder sometimes how I dragged myself through each day. I have so much more energy now.
  2. I've never had pain like that after a fill. I've had 3 fills. I'd call the office before the holiday weekend starts.
  3. Is the new iPhone app out yet? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall when it's released? Can I get it from the link at the bottom of this site? Eager for the conversation reply fix.
  4. I bought a pack of the Quest Coconut Cashew. It's good but very sticky and gummy. Are all of the flavors that consistency? I keep them in my desk for when I'm unable to get away for a lunch break. I agree they are filling and not overly sweet, but the texture turns me off. They are also difficult to remove from the wrapper.
  5. Ok that's not so funny today. I wore a polo shirt to work and was in the ladies' room putting my hair up in a ponytail. Aaagghh! Wrinkly, flappy, BAT WINGS! Ugh! I had a vision of my arms in the wind making a "slapslapslapslap" sound like a playing card in the spokes of a kid's bike. Well, it's better than my old fat arms. Right? RIGHT? o_0
  6. Have a great holiday weekend everyone! Stay on course! (That's from me to me.)
  7. "Welcome to the best club in the world" Love this!
  8. Thanks for the boost! Yes it's definitely an up and down process but I am determined not to follow old patterns of despair and giving up. I am NOT ever giving up on myself again. EVER. I've changed my whole flipping life this year. Not just WLS either. Bumps in the road are not walls of concrete. SO glad I posted here! Thank you!
  9. Keep on top of this. Try to get some iron in but counter that with prune juice so you don't get constipated. Strength should be coming back by now. Tell your doc if you're not improving and good luck!
  10. Karate chops on the neck and shoulders helped the pain for me. It took several days to be completely gone. Walking helped too.
  11. So glad you're here! I feel like my life has had the reset button pushed for the better. I was banded in March and have no regrets. Good luck to you!
  12. "Sorry that this post is so long, but sometimes it takes me a few paragraphs to explain what I am thinking." Worth reading every word.
  13. What they said. Be honest with your doctor. And follow their protocol. I was on liquids for six weeks post op. You can do two weeks. Good luck.
  14. "Lastly, swelling from fills can last 2-3 weeks which can give off the impression that we're in the green zone and can just cruise on. " Tmf, I think this applies to me. I've got an appointment next Tuesday and may need a very small fill. We'll see.
  15. This is the kind of post that lifts me up just when I need it. I was having a rough time with my food recently and posters like you tell it like it is. We make the choice to treat ourselves lovingly and kindly EVERY DAY. Nothing magical about it. We slip and stumble. So what!? Get back up and start fresh. As I read your words it occurred to me that I started this process almost a year ago. It was September last year that I went to my first orientation seminar. Holy cow. What a difference a year makes. I was banded 5 1/2 months ago. That means for almost a year I've focused on health and treating myself well. Many of those months were months of struggling and floundering while I investigated WLS, tried to change my eating habits, succeeded a little, and failed a lot. But I kept moving forward. What if I had given up back in October or November last year when I was mired in overeating and feeling hopeless? I'll tell you what. I'd be way MORE than 80 pounds heavier than I am today, because not only would I not have lost weight, I would have gained. Like every other year. I remember what I felt sad about last November. I was sad that after WLS I wouldn't be able to pig out on roasted turkey skin again. It's such a perfect example of how our thinking is so messed up. And why it's so important to connect here with people who are motivated and taking good care of themselves. My isolation got me to 302 pounds more than once in my life. Connecting with successful healthy people and asking for and getting help when my head's playing games with me will get me to goal and keep me there. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. The sheer joy in your posts speaks volumes.
  16. I needed to read this today. No matter how magical my new band is now, if I pick up unhealthy behaviors I can destroy all the good it does for me and harm myself as well. Thanks for the article.
  17. My surgeon's office lets me drink liquids up to my first bite of my meal and then no drinking for 20 -30 minutes afterwards. If you don't drink before your meal, what is the reason? I actually try to drink a glass of Water before I start eating so I'm not thirsty during my meal as well as to "fill up" a little. Is it counterproductive? Just wondering what the reason is for no liquid before. Thanks!
  18. Wow! It's amazing what our bodies can do when we take off the excess weight. Congratulations!
  19. Today is so much better. Drinking water. Ate my lunch earlier rather than later to prevent getting too hungry. Brought my lunch to work. Feeling GOOD!
  20. Yes! That mental leap from "I made a bad choice" to "I am a bad person" is what derails me. Not this time. Every day is a fresh start. I can't rest on my laurels and I can't sit in self blame. Thank you!
  21. @@4me4them, Yesterday was a good day and I broke the bad habits pattern. I stuck to my goals and walked at lunch and ate Protein and veggies at my meals. I feel much better after just one day. Got my Mo back! @@terry1118, MyFitnessPal is what I use. Good idea to use it to plan instead of just tracking what I already ate. Today I'm bringing a lunch instead of running out on my break. I have shakes and nuts in my desk but a planned meal is best. And the water! How easy it is to forget about it. I rely too much on coffee. Today I'll sip Water during the day. *feeling encouraged*
