  1. Oh I am dreading a hot summer wearing my body shaper. I'm currently looking for an affordable sports bra since I just joined a gym.
  2. My first surgical visit was in September and I had LapBand surgery in March, so six months. My advice is to change one habit every three weeks and don't go back on it. For example: stop TV eating. Stop drinking with meals. Start logging food. Walk for 10-20 minutes every day. You get the idea. Don't do it all at once. Add a change and commit to it for life. Once it's a habit don't revert to old behavior. If you slip up, big deal. Get right back on the track with the very next meal. Good luck!
  3. Love it! Here is what works for me right now. "I don't do that anymore." (Learned that from @Bandista) I nip negative self talk and blame in the bud every time it starts. I take on one new habit at a time and stick to it. Every morning I wake up and write down on a slip of paper what is weighing on my mind or causing me anxiety. It's only one phrase, and often it is related to my food or weight. I staple the slip of paper closed and put it in a special jewelry box. It's my God box. I let God handle it. I nurture myself with nonfood rewards. Every day, I do something for myself that is comforting and nurtures my soul. Examples are a foot massage, manicure, going to a movie, or my latest pastime, coloring books. Don't laugh. Grown up coloring books are a thing, and it's very relaxing. I'm eager to read more replies.
  4. Oh yeah, Unjury chocolate actually tastes good and is not sickly sweet.
  5. I wish you could fast forward and see how wonderful your life will be one year post surgery. Absolutely everything changed for me. I'm 54 and I feel better than I did at 35. I had LapBand. Don't let fear stop you.
  6. Ok glad the crazy stuff was in a different thread. I couldn't figure what on earth could have been said here that could offend someone. I'm doing well. I'm consistently leaving food on my plate and eating small portions. I haven't gotten stuck in weeks. I'm exercising regularly and NOT LOSING anything. Aargh !!! Don't tell me muscle weighs more than fat. I haven't gained enough muscle yet to make that true. My rings are tight, my feet are swollen at the end of the day. I don't think I'm eating too much sodium but I may have to let go of my morning bacon. Frustrated. I have not had movie crapcorn or alcohol in weeks. I just need to trust that eventually the scale will move. Grrr.
  7. @@Miss Mac, I love lilac and honeysuckle. I just treated myself to a solid perfume compact of lilac scent this week. My indulgences are: Seeing lots of movies Scented hard milled soaps Foot massages Manicures Friday night out with the girls to listen to bands
  8. One of the biggest life changes I have made is a commitment to treating myself kindly from now on, no matter what. It is a hard habit to change but so necessary. I'm determined to live my best life and I must be my own biggest advocate.
  9. Welcome! My band was the first in a series of changes that have me living a new and happier life. No regrets. This website is one of my several support systems. Stay connected!
  10. Thinking of you and hoping you feel great. I'm so happy for you.
  11. Chelle, You look beautiful! Congratulations and keep posting!!
  12. Well change of plans. No gym after work. My social life is a-buzzing and dinner out will be early, followed by listening to a band with some friends. Oh well. Glad I got several workouts in this week! Also took a walk in a park with a friend at lunchtime. Life is good.
  13. Oh wow. I just realized that I started out super morbidly obese. I passed through morbid obesity and now I'm merely obese. Just a wisp of a lil' thing, I am.
  14. "Bariatric bozos". This made me smile. I need one of those red noses. (Does anyone outside of Chicagoland know Bozo the Clown?)
  15. I'm a bander. I hit a plateau and actually started to gain a bit before I got refocused. The first hundred pounds came off quickly, in the first seven months. Then things slowed way down and I got complacent. I added foods and drink that are not weight loss friendly. I'm happy to say that today, 14 months post op, I am refocused and have started exercising. I WILL get this final fifty pounds off. It is definitely more work now, but without constant hunger like I had pre WLS it can be done. Thanks for this thread.
  16. Both girls are home for the summer. This mama is happy and can relax now. Yesterday I had more chips than I planned and had a different main dish, but left about 1/4 of it on the plate. As I drove home later, I was amazed that the new me is able to leave a Mexican restaurant without a "full" feeling. Just a regular not-hungry, not-full feeling. It was so odd to recognize it. I looked down at my lap in the car as I drove and didn't see a bulge. It was exhilarating. Today I had two cheese sticks for Breakfast. lunch will be in a park with a friend. I'm bringing a Jimmy John Unwich. dinner not certain yet. However, before dinner I'm headed TO THE GYM for a 5k. Gosh, I love saying that. Me. To a gym. On a Friday. Go figure. @@bacon, you started all this trouble with your exercise challenge. I hope you're happy with yourself. So!!! Where are my peeps???? @@enjoythetime? Where ya been, lady?
  17. A victory is a victory! Good for you. I gave up movie crapcorn. Small victory? I think not. Major change letting go of a comfort food/crutch.
  18. How did it go at the doc?
  19. Pre op I clenched my teeth and followed directions to the letter. Post op for me was six weeks of liquids. Hard, but I did it without choosing to break the momentum. And momentum was the word my doctor used. He wanted maximum weight loss and a good start right out of the gate. I lost fifty pounds before my first band fill. As the weight came off after that, the high of losing quickly kept me choosing healthy small meals regularly. As time went on, I added foods I hadn't had before. I added alcohol. I added popcorn. I added carby Thai food. I stopped losing weight for five months. I tried a variety of techniques like 5:2, etc. I'd lose and gain the same five pounds over and over again. When I gained eleven pounds over a couple of weeks, it woke me up. No way was I going to lose my focus and return to my old life. I needed to get my food in order, lose the crap that was holding me back, and in order to lose this last fifty pounds, I knew I had to do the hard thing I was putting off. E x e r c i s e. I didn't wanna. But I gotta. If I want what I want, I gotta. And I wanna reach goal and stay there. So I chose to take this next step. I dropped the popcorn, the Thai food, the alcohol, and picked up exercise. I paid for twelve sessions of personal training at the gym I joined. I now exercise. I eat better. I feel better. I know this will get me where I want to go. It's all choices. I wasn't ready until I was ready. I'm glad I stayed around people who are motivated while I floundered around for awhile. In my old life I would have given up and gone back to eating and isolating. No longer.
  20. Waiting at O'Hare for my youngest's plane from Madrid. It's been a long winter without her! So excited!
  21. My last three fills were 0.1 cc each.
  22. I opened it when we launched premium VIP Membership. I added VIP membership to some select members that have assisted us or contributed in some meaningful way (you know who you are.) Thanks Alex !
