Congrats to everyone in "Onderland" your stories fuel my passion to join you soon. I'm five weeks post op and I've lost 49lbs so far. I began my journey WLS in January 2013 weighing 305lbs. I had my gastric bypass surgery April 21st and I love the transformation I'm undergoing. God bless you all for sharing your journeys it gives me hope and inspires me to continue to eat healthy and exercise every day.

So, I havent been on here in a while, but I am doing great. 90 pounds lost, from a size 22-24 to a 14-16. Have had a ton of complications, the most recent one is from me fainting. I am now going to follow up with a cardiologist to see why my blood pressure keeps dropping. I am eating about 1000 calories a day and 70-80 grams of Protein and 72 ounces of Water. I am back to working part time and have had no problems adjusting. I hope everyone is well!

Had my one year jabs done and my Iron is low. The supplements cause me to be horribly constipated. Anybody have any suggestions on how to boost iron a different way?

A general rule is heat for healing, cold for swelling. Gas pains are eased by movement - walk as much as you can, even if it's only pacing in the house. The more you move, the better you feel. But don't overdo it. Balance it w/plenty of rest to let your body recover. :-)

    Hi BariatricPal Members!

I have an exciting announcement to make. We are approaching our 3.5 millionth post! That’s right…pretty soon, BariatricPal members are going to be responsible for 3,500,000 posts! I can hardly believe that we are about to hit this milestone, and I thank you, the members, that are responsible for this accomplishment.

BariatricPal had its humble beginnings in July 2003 when I started LapBandTalk. I added VerticalSleeveTalk, RNYTalk, and SleevePlicationTalk and watched the communities grow as members gathered for support, encouragement, and friendships. By the time these original boards combined to form the single BariatricPal community, we had over 225,000 active members. In fact, BariatricPal is now the most trafficked weight loss surgery community on the internet!

This accomplishment would not be possible without such incredible member support and participation. To say “thank you” for what you do for this community and mark this impressive milestone, I am offering a prize to the poster who makes post number 3.5 million! This lucky member will receive a free copy of our soon-to-be released book entitled, “The Big Book on Bariatric Surgery: Living Your Best Life After Weight Loss Surgery.” The book has valuable strategies for losing weight and loving life after weight loss surgery.

The more you post, the better your chances of being poster number 3.5 million and winning the book.

Here’s to the next 3.5 million posts!

Thanks Healthy Me1963, you always motivate and inspire me to stay focused on the reason I had WLS, to get healthy and stay healthy for the rest of my life. It's awesome how we cheer each other on and pick each other up when we are feeling down. Have a wonderful evening!!!

Hi I just want to say to you you are in good company. You are amongst peers who have been there and done even worse lol. The important thing to remember is that every day brings with it the opportunity to start over again. You will be just fine, refocus your effort, stop beating yourself up about doing what you did, and concentrate on your purpose for being here, to have the surgery and kick start the beginning of your new life!!! You are a beautiful young lady who's ready to transform. Let it happen and if you stumble along the way we are here for you. We will support you, encourage you, and give you the boost you need to get you back on track. I pray that you will find your purpose and receive the strength needed to pave the way to a new you, God bless.

During a long day of looking around the new Bass Pro shop near Denver,
my friends and I stopped in at Hooter's for some Hot Wings.
After being there for a while, one of my friends asked me
which waitress I would like to be stuck in an elevator with.
I told them, "The one who knows how to fix elevators."
I'm old, tired, and piddle a lot.

Welcome my sister in this struggle!!! You're in very good company for I have been emotional eater all of my life and it's caused me to become addicted to sugary, fatty foods and it's really hard, even during my pre op diet I found myself cheating because the Clear Liquids didn't satisfy me. But trust me, you'll be fine with the support and encouragement here. We are all brothers and sisters in the struggle. If you ever have a question just ask. I'm three weeks post op and I've lost 33lbs but I have a long way to go before I reach my goal. So hang in there we will get thru this together. God bless!!

I am so pleased and excited about this journey I am on. I get tickled every time I eat because for the first time I can remember I leave lots of food on my tiny little plate and after a few bites I am completely satisfied!!! I went to a cookout at my sisters home today and everyone who knows me was amazed. Normally I'd be sitting at the table without moving unless I needed to use the facilities. Today I had so much energy I danced, raced with the kids and won, and when I left I did not take a doggy bag for later. Is this really me? Yes, it is the new and improved me. The me that loves life and have taken control of the lifelong bad habits and turned them into healthier ones. My hubby looked at me with a big od smile on his face as everyone congratulated me on my weight loss. When I weighed myself this morning I have lost another 5.2 lbs. I wish I had this done as soon as my bmi got over 40, ten years ago, but now I am just glad to be feeling good and having so much energy. I Love My new Life!!! I'll post some pictures tomorrow so everyone can see my progress thus far.

I went shopping this weekend with my family. While in banana Republic I tried on a sweater because I was cold. (not normal for this hot momma!) and it fit. I mean looked good in the front, back, it FIT! I told my family, "I am having a moment! " I bought it too. I have never in my life owned anything from Banana Republic! What a thrill!

Glad to hear that I actually may not look any older after the surgery than I do now. Probably will be sometime in early June. I have lost 60 lbs. since last summer and feel better already, Have been able to stop glucophage for now and will hopefully never need it again. I don't care about wrinkles nor sagging skin, looking forward to being able to walk uphill without passing out!
By the way I am new here, Havent even picked a photo yet. hope to get to know everyone well.
Oh, yeah. I am 63 years old. Took a long time for me to get the courage to try this.

I am now 62 years old....had one heart attack, resulting in Cardiac surgery.....
Lost ALL my excess weight, have a very low body fat %...in the "Fit-Athletic" range....
My skin and muscle tone has tightened (no loose skin)
I work out and run as much as possible...water and Protein daily....
Yes I'm a man and I treat myself to facials at the spa....wife and I buy packages for a discount....
I can now purchase and wear ANY clothes I wish, and can be as fashionable (or not) as I choose to be....
People - strangers...are just so much more friendly and sociable. (welcome to their club?)
I have not looked or felt this good in over 20 years....I get compliments all the time, and not just from people who know I have lost weight. People who never knew I was fat.......I look at other men my age and I can't believe what I see....
My Cardiologist refers to me as Liam Neeson...who also happens to be the same age and does his own stunts in his movies...
You can NEVER go wrong with turning your life around...only wish I did this a long time ago....

I am with you! I am just starting to feel the wonderfulness of being thinner, being full and seeing reactions from friends and family. I went away to my nephew's graduation and many of the family members were shocked and complimented me on my weight loss, how I looked, etc., the new me. These are people that love me no matter my size but how nice for them to praise me! It was a big thrill and ego booster!
