Shock to my system

So I just tried to go to the grocery store with the hubby...

I say tried because I was driving up the road and I was sweaty and nauseous and just all around feeling ill... so I had to turn around to come back home. I came inside and was very shaky and panting. I know I'm probably not getting enough Protein but that was the reason for going to the store. I couldn't even make it outside my neighborhood. I have my first post-op appt with my surgeon tomorrow and now I'm uneasy about it.

Any advice?

That also sounds like dumping syndrome... did you eat or dink something different before you left?

I forgot about dumping lol but your right that is another great possibility.

So I found out the hard way what that dumping syndrome is. Today I went to the gym and the I went to Starbucks got a berry refresher and I took a few drinks before I went into a store. Not even 10 mins later I started getting a cold sweat started shaking and my stomached hurt so bad I thought I was gonna pass out! Horrible feeling! I had to leave the store and I was getting ready to drive myself to the clinic cuz I was concerned and the pain started to subside.

I don't understand why it happened but I hope I never go through that again. Or anyone else either.

I know this is a thread for gastric bypass but it came up when I was searching for something about dumping so I hope no one minds as I have a sleeve.

Sounds like you were dehydrated... Are you getting enough fluids?

I was concerned about DS but I couldn't think of why I would be having it! I didn't have anything out of the norm, just Protein drinks I've been drinking for days. I usually get in more than enough Water every day but maybe at that point, I wasn't hydrated enough. It also could have been just pure anxiety as I've had anxiety in the past.

I went to the doc today and had the hubby drive. I actually was fine today. Granted it was overcast and not as hot (thank god)! I felt good enough to drive all the way back home. He even asked me to stop at In-N-Out for him and I was A-OK. Kind of jealous of the solid food but I wasn't wanting to eat it for sure.

Maybe it was just a day too early to go outside into the world!

Hey we're all in basically the same boat! Dumping syndrome scares me so I hope I can avoid it! I'm sorry you had to go through that. What do you think caused it?

It shouldn't matter what surgery you had, dumping is horrible and everyone needs to be prepared for it that they may know what it feels like. I don't mind you posting this here we are all learning as we go on our journeys to find ways of staying healthy and losing weight. Have a great day!!!
