Where are you located @@DaisyAmy? I'm located in Tennessee. I selected my date as well. My surgeon only does the procedure on Mon and Tues. I considered my time off as well. I do not work in the school system but we have scheduled holidays and floating holidays during that time so I should use around 8 days of my vacation so I will be off work until the beginning of the year.

Hi I will be self pay due to my low BMI. UHC will not cover the cost of the sleeve procedure therefore if any potential issues arise my insurance company will not cover. My surgeon does not offer BLIS. Does anyone know of another company that offers insurance for self-pay patients? I am nervous, excited, and want to prepare.

@@Newtum I am low bmi as well with no comorbidities. I have yo yo dieted for years going back prior to having my 16 year old son. I have not had the procedure yet but I am striving for December. I have the same concerns as you do and I wish you the best. Hopefully more low BMIers with no comorbidities will see the post and offer some helpful tips.

Congrats on your loss!!! I am so excited for you. What test do they use for nicotine (blood, urine, or hair). Also do they perform the nicotine test the day of the procedure? How many days did you stay in the hospital? Did they perform a barium test? I'm sorry for all the questions I am so excited and so curious. I am glad you are doing well.

Hi I have another visit with Dr. Wegner this Wednesday mainly to ask questions that I did not ask during the previous visit. I had to sign a form saying that I stopped smoking and that it has to be 3 months of non-smoking. I am not sure if they actually test to verify the levels.

How have you been feeling? Are you able to intake the required fluids and proteins? I have so many questions but I won't overwhelm you. Wishing you a great recovery.

I have not attended any of the support groups but if you go the the memphisweightlosssurgery.com website and click on resources (at the top) and then support groups, the support group dates are listed. The next one is October 8th.

I have my first appointment with Dr. Weaver this Wednesday at St. Francis. Anyone had the sleeve done by Dr. Weaver? What was your experience with him? Were there any complications? I want to know the pros and cons please.

Hi, I apologize if this topic has been started. Did anyone have low Iron levels before gastric sleeve surgery? My iron levels are low and I have been taking iron tablets to increase the levels. I am considering having the surgery done in Mexico the end of next month. Please let me know your experience I am a nervous wreck right now. Thank you

We can only pray that we make the right decision. I have the same fears that you have. When I was younger I would do things on a whim no hesitation no second thoughts. I'm really scared and I haven't even scheduled my surgery yet. You are not alone I'm right with you. Best of luck!
