It happened today - my supervisor at a worksite I do contract work for ran into me in the copy room and asked me if I had lost weight. "I replied, yes! Almost 35 pounds. You're the first person to notice!" I then went on to tell her that I made some pretty drastic lifestyle changes at the beginning of the year - no caffeine, no carbonation, no processed food, no fast food and no bread or Pasta of any kind. This is a school site so I won't see them all summer. Boy, will they be surprised when I return in September!

Not that you asked my opinion, but try increasing your daily intake and see if that makes a difference. Somewhere between 600-800 calories at this point. Many people on this board report stalls when their calorie intake is too low. What do you think is preventing you from getting in enough Protein?
Ugh. People monitoring my weight loss progress is exactly why I only told my parents and Honey. I'm glad I didn't tell anyone. No one knows as wls isn't even on their radar. On the downside, I haven't had many people comment on my almost 30 pound weight loss yet.... Until yesterday. I ran into an old friend who called me "skinny" as she walked up to me! I also benefitted from the honesty and directness of young children yesterday! I walked up to a group of 5 kinder/1st graders yesterday. As I did, one of them stated, "you look tall and skinny. Your legs are long. I really like your hair!" Three more kids agreed with the statement. The last kid stated, "I don't think so." Hahahahaha. Love how honest young kids are!

    1) height / weight starting our wls programs: 236
    2) weight day of surgery; 226
    3) weight four week post op / pounds lost/gained:
Current weight; 206.6, lost 3 pounds this week, 29.4 pounds overall
    4) goal weight: 140, I 'd like to hit onederland in the next two weeks!
    5) your biggest success this week: still getting 60-90 grams of Protein in a day. Maintaining on average 550-800 calories. My ability to take in more liquids is increasing, my UTI infection is finally gone after round 2 of antibiotics! I have more energy this week!
    6) your biggest struggle this week: finding clothes that don't make me look like I took a dump in my pants. Everything hangs. We are going through a heat wave (100 degrees here today) so I'm finding summer dresses to be an easy solution!

Hi everyone- I somehow missed this thread and will have to go back and read it. I had surgery on the 16th also, down about 18lbs including pre-op but nothing since last week! I'm not too worried since I really can't eat too much yet and still just walking. I think with more exercise in a couple of weeks the weight loss will pick back up. So far so good, my surgery is healing well but I really can't tolerate solids much yet. I did have an EGD and all is well, I guess I'm just still sensitive. I have to have the Protein Shake or there's no way I'd get close to enough. This gets better every day though so I know I'll be having to watch how much I do eat soon, just like before. Anyway, glad the pain is pretty much over at this point, getting used to life with a sleeve.

So.... I had a craving for pad Thai noodles tonight. I bought this premade dish at the grocery store and warmed it up in the microwave. As I went to remove it, the whole dish fell out of the microwave and landed on the floor. I'm thinking the bariatric God has made an intervention and is keeping me on track. Sigh, so is it Soup, cottage cheese or tuna fish for dinner tonight?

Ok this is going to sound really weird, but I just have to share. ....I really enjoy putting on lotion and washing my arms and legs now. (Not that I didn't enjoy bathing before) strange I know....but the reason why is because they already feel so much smaller! It's like there is less surface area to clean! I know I sound crazy. But I can't believe the differences already. I guess 2 weeks of clear liquid and 2 weeks of full liquids is really paying off. I'm totally not bragging. ..just felt good about something for once and had to say it! Anybody else noticing weird things you've never thought of before?

Ok so I spoke to a sleeve vet today, she had her surgery over a year ago and also another girl that had it 2 weeks before me. They helped me with my 9 days of no weight loss panic. Our bodies are in shock with the fast weight loss, which I already knew and our bodies are trying to hold onto all those fat cells. It can be so many things, retaining Water etc.
I need to calm down and realize that the weight will continue to drop.
This is a new experience, new life, new journey, new ME that I need to learn to take it slow and let things be.
    Sigh...easier said than done.

Coming up on the two week mark for surgery. My mind is going crazy thinking of all these questions. :/ What will my life look like in a year? How will I feel? What will I have accomplished that I couldn't have right now? So of course I'm throwing it all out to you guys my wls surgery family. Yes yes I'm already attached to you .
My life has been a whirlwind the last couple of years. I gained custody of my niece and went from a single girl in an apartment with a dog to a single mom with a child and two dogs!
I tried internet dating on and off for years and man oh man has that been a crazy ride! Funny that now my confidence is higher than it's ever been and my New Years resolution was no more dating for 2014. I wanted to concentrate on myself with surgery and I just started looking for a house to buy for my expanded amazing little family!
That being said I'm getting older. I'm 34 and I'd like to think that someday I'll find that someone! I had a fleeting moment last summer where I thought I had found the one but it was just that a moment. How long do I wait before I get back out there? How is dating after wls? Any crazy stories?

So........today was my 1st followup since surgery 2 weeks ago. All went well, Dr said Im losing as expected. He did tell me to stop weighing myself almost every day lol So Im going to try my best to only weigh myself once a week as per his recommendation.
He also said since Ive been doing really good with puree foods I can gradually start soft foods next week. I dont know if I wanna do that just yet. I rather stick it out a little longer. If I do try soft foods I wont be eating it everyday. I want to lose as much as I can in my first 3 months. My ideal goal is to lose 50lbs by my bday is August, so Ive 31lbs more to go!

Hi everyone! Went back to doctors today for my 2 week check up. All is good! Puréed is good and bad- I want to eat it but my stomach says otherwise! Trying to figure out what my stomach can handle and how much to eat is a challenge but I'm happy to have choices! Here is my update:

I'm feeling better. Still weak and low on energy though. Also have trouble getting Protein in because I HATE those stupid shakes! I start on soft foods today, so hopefully it will be easier. I got a pintos and cheese from Taco Bell and was able to get down four (small) bites of it. I think the thing that is hardest for me is that my stomach is tiny but my brain still thinks it's like it used to be!
On another note - is anyone else SICK of fruit flavored Water? I don't care much for tea, so I've had to use the flavorings and there's nothing but fruity flavors. I want something that tastes like a Coke so bad I can't see straight!
    1) height/weight starting our WLS programs - 5'8 1/2" - 375lbs (before week long liquid diet)

    2) weight day if surgery - 357lbs

    3) week 2 post-op pounds lost/gained - been holding steady at 334lbs I think my issue is that I'm not getting in enough protein/calories

    4) total pounds lost since program began - 41lbs

    5) current goal weight/ pounds to go - My first 'goal' is about 275lbs. I weighed 320 a couple of years ago and started on Weight Watchers. I ended up losing down to 279lbs, so I'd like to get about there. My ultimate goal is 180, but I'll be happy at anything under 200lbs. That means I have 59lbs to go to the first goal and 154lbs to the final one.

    6) your biggest success this week - Working a full day. I work a desk job, but it's VERY stressful. food was my outlet. It's difficult without it!

    7) your biggest struggle this week - Working a full day, LOL. Also, getting in my Protein and liquids. Also bummed that the scale hasn't gone down.

    8) What is a new lifestyle change you incorporated this week? Eating solid foods SLOWLY. I didn't eat fast before, but I also didn't chew that much. It's difficult to chew until something is basically paste!
