I didn't have a catheter and put on my panties as soon as I got up from the bed. I just used the gowns there...one with the opening in the back & another opening in the front (like a robe). I was in the "bariatric" area, so all of the gowns were the larger size...so no worries. I don't think I would have had any problem with putting on my own pj pants, but the elastic waistband, even though it wasn't tight, was a bit irritating to my incision sites when I got home.
Good luck tomorrow! Try to relax if you can - it's exciting/scary, but I'm sure you will do fine

I would definitely keep up with your pain meds for a few days. The GasX might also help - it did for me. One other thing to try is different temperatures. I love cold Water, but for a while after surgery I just couldn't get it down. Drinking lukewarm fluids worked a lot better for me. Good Luck!

It is crazy...sometimes I forget how much I've actually lost. A woman who works for me is about 4'6" (I'm 5'10") she told me last week - you've lost a "me"!
Of course the website @@ShrinkingPeach mentioned points out that I've lost the equivalent of 4,932 pencils! LOL

I feel like I should get a gold star just for staying out of the "mud flaps" thread. Just sayin'.
I read that to my hubby last night (yea, the title caught my attention) & thought he would fall off the couch. Said he had never heard that term before (which almost made me fall off the couch). I do think the OP was truly sensitive to his girlfriend's feelings though and I certainly give him credit for asking in the best way you possibly could...
Now my hubby says maybe he should join. I strongly suggested he should not LMAO
-
LMAO!! That's why it would be interesting!
-
@Recycled Oh my...a body switch with Lipstick Lady this should be interesting LOL

@@Recycled thank you for the chuckle @bunched panties. I've always enjoyed your posts! It is weird and kind of amusing that your gender is showing as female on this thread?

Finally some movement! Stalls are soooo frustrating!

First congrats on starting your journey! From my own experience, everything you mentioned was normal for me the first week after surgery. I didn't have a BM until I started some soft foods and not surprisingly it was like what I had eaten the previous 2 weeks
My large incision was tender and my whole abdomen felt inflated...walking definitely helped with that. As for liquids, I was lucky to get in half of what I should the first week, but I took everyone's advice here & forced myself to sip, sip, sip.
Hang in there. It does get better. Of course, do not hesitate to ask your doctor about any concerns you have. That's what they are there for. I would guess you have a follow-up soon? Good Luck!!

I believe the first food I ate was a scrambled egg, but I also made the Ricotta Bake on the World According to Eggface website. I was craving Italian and it was soooo good!
-
Great topic & love this line!!
if you truly need to know if it's okay to eat the triple bypass bacon jalapeño and nacho cheese burger in between two donuts and wash it down with a soda 2 days after surgery the gracious folks here will help you!
Yes they will...and probably not in a very kumbaya-ish way

still 218

Think I may too...rainy day here. Have my first batch of BariBread cooling, so may have go make them too. I have some dry ranch mix...sounds like a good variation
-
@CanyonBaby
I've used various variations of the recipe here http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2009/12/food-gifts.html
Super easy..good luck

Sounds like the dreaded 3-week stall which you can find on the boards with a search. Sounds like you're doing great. Just stick to your plan & the weight will come off.

218 frustrating....
Thanks stephh!

You probably need to eat something with more Protein...maybe a scrambled egg? You could also try adding some unflavored Protein powder to your potato to up the Protein.< /p>
I know someone told me when I was early on that thirst and/or stomach acid can mimic hunger. You said you don't get all your liquids in, so maybe you're really thirsty. My doctor OK'd taking Prilosec that first week and right away I felt less hungry. So between the liquids and the PPI, I felt much better. I find this is still true...so if I'm hungry the first thing I (try) to do is drink and see if it continues.
Maybe try calling your doctor or NUT for advice? Good Luck!!
