    Biotin

I started taking Biotin about 6 months post op because of hair loss (which happens when you don't eat enough protein). There is a lag time of about 3 months between when you don't eat enough Protein and when the hair falls out so rather than wait until the loss occurred (too late), I started taking it every day. I take the highest strength daily and have noticed a big difference. I still do loose hair on occasion but nothing like it was! Kim

    Hungry

Jessroto, Just a head's up, but my practitioner told me that two things that usually don't sit well are scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes. I tried and they were right. It just sits in your stomach and hurts--until you throw up. They said, as with any food that we don't tolerate, try it again a couple of weeks down the road. Kim

    2 Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet

I had to do liquids two weeks pre-op and two weeks post-op. Its not that hard--add popsicles, Jello for treats. I think you need to follow your doctor's advice though on your diet--every surgeon seems to be quite different in their requirements. Also, I didn't need to do any type of bowel prep--one of the fringe benefits of the liquid diet, although you do make stool, which surprised me. Kim

    My BFF

Put all of what you've written above in a card and send it to him. Then let it go and see what, or if, anything happens. He may have no idea how you feel (guys are kind of like that sometimes :-)). If you don't hear from him, then let go. It is one of the hardest things to do but, as I've learned, it is very difficult and stressful to try to maintain a one-sided friendship. Use that energy on others now. Kim

    Please help.

When I went for the psych appointments, the doctor told me that she was available to me at any point along my journey. Consider making an appointment to learn how to control the triggers and learn more coping mechanisms. Catch this before it gets any worse! Kim
  10. I know this probably isn't the norm, but I told everyone! Honestly, family, friends, co-workers. . . . .What I learned was how much I was loved. I can honestly say that 100% of them were very supportive and glad to think I might be around longer. I didn't know how many of them had been worried about my health. My Dad was the only one who asked, just once, "Are you sure?" When I answered, "Absolutely, without any doubts," he didn't bring it up again. I did tell him about potential complications but again with the caveat that I was certain about my decision and why. Its such a huge change in how you eat and what you eat that I can't imagine trying to keep it a secret. Why add extra stress?! And, yes, I do know how fortunate I am to have the family and friends that I do! Kim (surgery 1/29/14)

    Morning Sickness

I am nauseated in the mornings too. When I talked to the nurse she said that sometimes it can be from being dehydrated when you first wake up. She suggested drinking Water first and that has worked great. I'll usually drink a 16 oz bottle of water the first 30-60 minutes I'm up, then I'm good for some Protein. Kim
  12. Hang in there SueBee! I felt the same way. If I never have to eat jello again it will be too soon!

    Suprised

I had the gastric bypass and had a drain from each side. I was also surprised as it was never mentioned in all the pre-op information. Agree, it felt really weird coming out! Kim
