    Need to vent

I'm 25 years old and been married for 7 years now. I was banded a year ago on 2/24/14, 5 days post surgery my dad had a heart attack them 3 days later he was taken off life support and passed away. We went through the 6 month required documented dieting together (he was going to have the sleeve), we were each other support in this process. He had just received his surgery date the day before his heart attack. I have been devastated since losing him and feel that this grief has hindered my weight loss process! Eventually I was able to pick myself up and keep going with the weight loss but I'm just stuck at this spot. As of today I have lost only 40pounds, I feel that I should have lost more: according to the doctors and everyone else I should be losing more by now. I have a 10 cc band and have 6.5cc in so far. My last fill was 7/5/14. I struggle with keeping food in my band, someday I can eat more solid foods and others like today I can't get liquids to go down without extreme hurting/pain. My family has been "supportive" but not actively supportive in my weight loss ("who wants lasagna for dinner?" "Not me it doesn't fit in my band." "oh well make some soup for your self.") I'm just looking for any advice on what to do? I'm so tight I can't drink tea, coffee or water! How the hell can I even drink a protein shake?!?!? This usually lasts all day! Then the next day I'm not tight; can drink and eat like a normal bandster but I'm so hungry by then I feel like I'm over compensating for not eating or drinking the day before. But I'm not losing any weight either, I've been this weight for a few months and I'm terrified of getting another fill due to being too tight for anything. Help!!!!!!

    Wahooo 2 days in!

I was banded a week ago! I had a headache for a week before surgery so the liquid diet was killing me! So I did Lipton noodle soup (half cup) with 3-4 crushed saltines and let them get soggy! Eat it slowly in very tiny bites! Works wonders plus I added apple juice to my liquids! The crackers with the soup has been my life saver!!!! Only do half a cup with 3-4 crushed saltines for one meal! Today I was able to do two soup meals with crushed saltines and I am full! I didn't try to add another bite! My body knew so I stopped and had a sip of juice then walked around with the dog!

    hiccups after I drink water

I have this too!!! Not all the time but once maybe twice a day! And I had them in my chest before too I use the old wives trick: hold your breath then take 3 drinks or swallow 3 times! Does the trick for me!!!

    Bummer...insulin resistance anyone?

I take metformin for PCOS. (Poly cystic ovarian syndrome) it's really not that bad! Plus it helps keep my sugars in check when my hormones are out of wack!!!

  6. I got banded on Monday 2/24. I've done really good sticking to liquids all day: warm liquid for Breakfast, 1/2 cup broth for lunch and sips of Protein shake for dinner (so far 5lbs down)! I've been sleeping on and off all week just because sleep helps heal faster! Here is my dilemma (well several). I'm so sluggish and tired to remember all my questions! Lol! Problem 1: I've had a headache for two weeks straight and this not eating thing is making it worse! Help?!? Plus my headache meds aren't working!!! Problem 2: Also I am freaking starving!!!!!!!!!!! I managed to eat some Lipton noodles (I recommend cuz they are teeny tiny) with the broth and it has stayed down. The Protein shakes do NOT make me feel full plus I feel stupid chewing it since I crave that sensation!!! The noodles today did the job so my question is what else do you suggest to help with the full feeling and the chewing sensation I am craving? How are creamy mashed potatoes (well blended the hell out of them with gravy and milk)? Milkshakes? Anything else? Am I the only one craving tuna fish, egg salad, mashed potatoes, bacon, chicken, cheeseburger and Pasta all on one sandwich? Problem 3: pills, pills, pills!!!! I usually take all my meds at night but I'm having issues with it! After 4 cut pills I can take anymore!!!!! Any suggestions? I'm going to try to spread them throughout the day as well! Problem 4: Work?!? I go back to work on Tuesday, I'm so scared that I'm still going to be in pain and not moving very fast! Any suggestions for going back to work? I am a speech pathologist so I'm up and down with kids all day! Thanks for letting me rant and rave! Didn't realized I had so many question!!!!!

Hi everyone!!! I got banded this morning!!! Woke up with a little pain and a little gas! Got to leave after an hour so I came home and went a head and walked the small back yard for a few minutes. I was able to take a pain med and nap. Still walking every 2 hours and pain meds every 4 hours! I found this website last night. I found so many ideas for thin liquids, thick liquids and mushies!!!! Just wanted go share the news of being banded!!!!! I'm so excited for my new journey and getting to meet new friends on here!!!!!
