Why I am in love with my Lap-Band

Me too my goal was as long as I felt healthy and my body didn't hurt. I was banded a little over a year and a half. My doctor originally said my goal should be 100 pounds and that would be my final goal of 175. However I've already lost more than that already. I just take it one day at a time. Now I don't know what my goal will be I think I'll be good at 155 but a tone 155. Now I just need to hit the gym and build muscle.

Why I am in love with my Lap-Band

So good to hear from you! It sounds like you are doing everything right. The gas pains are the worst! It just feels like your body is on edge and you can't do anything to fix it. My left shoulder bothered me the worst but don't worry it all goes away soon. So let's talk about exiting stuff. What do you want your goal weight to be? How much do you weigh now and how tall are you? What do you want your clothes size to be! I know we all do it to be healthy but looking better is part of the fun too!

Why I am in love with my Lap-Band

I think after surgery I waited a week for solids and when I began eating solids I wasn't 100% sure I felt okay so I went back to liquids for another 4 days. Like the Proffessor said don't rush into solids let your band heal and you'll avoid unnecessary problems. When I was on the liquid diet I would have sugar free jello, liquid sugar free yogurt, broth (chicken, fish, beef). Take your time I know it's so frustrating to only be on liquids but it's for your own good. People that struggle with the band didn't follow the directions and had complications. You went through the hard part already just make it easier on yourself and avoid slowing down your healing processby eating solids. In the grand scheme of things what's another week on liquids. Right? When you call your dr ask about your vitamins when is it ok to start on them. I am sooo exited for you!!!

Why I am in love with my Lap-Band

Oh I didn't have a sore throat afterwards I felt fine the port feels weird. My port never hurt. The fills don't hurt either they're uncomfortable but they don't hurt. The worst is the first 3 days after surgery because of the gas but you need gas x and to walk. I'm telling you walking is the only thing that works. I wish I would have known about walking when I had the surgery it would have saved me a lot of headaches and tears. Good luck on your big day!

Why I am in love with my Lap-Band

You'll be okay the worst part is getting up but as long as you have someone to help it'll be manageable. Let us know how you're feeling once you get out.

Why I am in love with my Lap-Band

@@bel1995 That's exiting!!!! The only thing I would recommend is to ask for stool softners they should give you that anyway but incase they don't ask! You will be sorry if you don't use them. Also you're going to have gas pains buy gas x and walk. Walking is the only thing that makes it go away. My left hand hurt after surgery but it went away within a couple of hours. Also, you will need someone to help you get up from bed make sure someone is available to help. I wish you the best of luck it's so exiting! Let us know in your progress!

Why I am in love with my Lap-Band

Hey there. Well this is why I love my band!!! My heaviest was 275+ after several years of being miserable and trying every fab diet I decided I needed to do the band. It took a year and a half for my insurance to finally approve my procedure. I was banded in March 2014. I struggled with it at first trying to get to my heavenly green zone and it also took my brain a while to understand that I don't have to eat everything is sight. It was a very slow weight loss the first year I think I only lost like 40 pounds. Then after my last fill which was in March of 2015 I was losing a lot of weight and I was doing my part to contribute to the weight loss. Also what really really helped me was talking to people like me that had the lap band because no matter how much support you have people will not understand unless they've gone through it. Little by little I continued to lose weight and when I gained a little I didn't get super upset I would just start again the next day. Oh and I weigh myself every Wednesday so I can take accountability for celebratory times when I lose and also for when I gain. If I gained I just really really watch what I eat the next week. You can't bully yourself into losing weight. Just realize what you did wrong and do it better next week. After my long struggle i weighed in this Wednesday at 164. I can't believe it. That's a weight loss of 111 pounds. It was the strongest, bravest and smartest thing I've ever done! My quality of life is so much better and I am so happy!!! Best thing I've ever done!!!
  8. Hey guys so this is a super late post but I want to share. So like 3 years back I was 275+ pounds had just had a little girl and wasn't too physically happy with myself. Ok so I was with my group of friends we were hanging out in my moms couch. I didn't live with my mom but I forgot why all my friends were there but I'll go on. So I'm sitting in my moms living room with 6 of my good friends were chit chatting having a great time laughing and drinking. Then my older sister comes and wants to hang out with us too. No biggie she gets in on the conversation then one of my friends starts talking about how she needs to lose weight before summer and everyone starts talking about their weight. I then say I know I need to start loosing weight and my sister chimes in and says yeah you do you've let your self go like really let go. One of my friends is being nice and says that I still look nice and then my sister once again incase anyone missed it says again No she looks fkn bad I would never let myself get like that! I couldn't believe she said that and in front of my friends. I immediately started fighting the urge to cry I didn't want anyone to see how much it hurt. My friend trying again to be nice tells me well your chunky cause you just had a baby but you still have a nice body. I didn't say anything to my sister I seriously thought I wouldn't be able to hold my tears. For some reason or another that is lodged in my heart. It's horrible how your family can be the ones who hurt you the most. ????

    Going to make it!

I love both of your answers. I couldn't have said it better myself if a man doesn't love you at your heaviest, weakest or when you need them they're not worth it. I had surgery in march and I've already lost close to 50 pounds and i have another 50 to go but I've been wondering how will my port look when I'm smaller. I questioned about getting the lap band for a while even when I was going through all my pre-reqs for surgery. To tell you the truth I questioned it even after I got the surgery even after a couple of months and a couple of fills and 30 pounds down. But recently I realized it was one of the best decisions I've ever made and I now know that this is all happening because I had the courage to get the lap band something that even though I hadn't admitted to myself I really needed. I know myself and if it wasnt for the band i wouldnt have lost anything i would have continued to think I would loose on my own but wouldn't have. I understand gaining all the weight back after your band came out. I know the same thing will happen to me if I ever get the band out. Today I'm soooo happy I did it and I'm so proud that I had the strength to do it. And it takes alot to realize that you needed it again and I'm glad you had the strength and courage to want to complete this weight lose journey with the band again. Good luck!!!
