I notice that must sleeves are in the high 200's but is there anyone who started higher. My weight day off was 362 give or take a pound....my doctor told me the most common procedure for my weight was the bypass but the long term results are very much the same. Im 5'7" but I definitely strated off way bigger than some posts I see...just curious to know I'd I'm alone lol

I don't feel my new stomach. I can't really tell I'm full by my stomach. If I eat too much, it's like the food gets stuck around the chest area and won't go down right away. That's how I know to stop eating. Fortunately, I haven't puked any of it out, it usually stays down and eventually goes where it's supposed to go. It's the same with hunger, I can feel hunger, but it's not the same kind of hunger I used to have. This one is tolerable, I don't have to eat right away when I start feeling it. The hardest thing for me is not drinking during meals. Sometimes I just have to take a sip of milk or Water and if I overdo it, I feel it and it's not fun.

healthymesoon reacted to shelly513 in 12 months out! FINALLY
It's been a long time since I've been on here so hete I go...
This has been the most amazing journey over the last year. I have started to live again and love again.
I was a food addict. I still am but im in recovery... I ALWAYS will be.when I was 353lbs I would wake up and think about food. I would eat and eat and eat. I reached the point that I could barely tie my own shoes bc i could barely bend over. I had to roll off of my couch to get up.. I could barely wipe my own ass. I was always uncomfortable.
    Miserable.. I was completely miserable.
When I would pull thru the drive thru I would act like I was ordering for 2 bc i was ordering so much food. When I was cashing out at the convenient store I was act like I was buying all that chips and candy for my kids.. not me.
    Embarrassed. .. that's what I was.
I would constantly compare myself to everyone... I would look at other women and actually be mad at her bc she looked better than me.. she had a better body than me.. my man probably wanted her bc i was so fat and ugly.
Ashamed is what I had become.
Finally I decided after years of dieting enough was enough.... I had the gastric sleeve 02/26/2013.BEST DECISION I MADE.
It's now been a year and here are my stats. 32 years old and 5-7'.I was 353 and now I'm 183lbs. Went from a bmi of 55.5 to 28.7. I wore a size 26 pants and now I'm in 10/12.
Over the last year I have stayed active. For the first 6 months I was VERY strict.on what I ate. Now I'm more lenient. I eat every 3 hours making Protein #1. That isn't hard for me bc I'm a hard

    Whooooohoooo!!!!
I've been a little upset with my scale, but I'm about to focus on muscle instead. I was dead-set on getting to goal before I muscle up (head games, I know). But pics like this help put things into perspective. So, I think I'll throw out the number goal and start lifting ??
Pic: size 18 vs size 8!

healthymesoon reacted to JanetPRN in A few things I would not done 6 months ago...
I have been relatively successful with rebuilding my health and body since my sleeve almost 6 months ago.Doc says I have lost 77% of my excess weight so far. I can't say I have a lot of confidence yet, but I am trying to work on it by stepping out of my comfort zone in some way every single day. I am a work in progress and here are few things I would not have done 6 months ago.
    1) Say no to bad choices like carb-a-licious Snacks. I do not feel deprived, so this one has gotten much easier for me.Chips and fries have lost their power over me.
    2) Exercising when I don't want to (I still don't love it!)
    3) Last week I took my first "selfie" ever. In the past , I was always the one who took everyone elses picture, so I wouldn't have to be in the pic. I bet a lot of us did that.I recently realized how much I stayed hidden in the background.
    4) I must confess that I bought a "fit and flare" dress last weekend because it was a size 10 and it fit properly. Shopping for new clothes still stresses me out quite a bit, because I am not sure what size I am, or what looks ok at my age.
    5) After dropping 7 sizes (22 to 10) I finally found the courage to cancel my Lane Bryant credit card and unsubscribed their emails.
    6) Shopped for new bras at Victoria's Secret for the first time. The "secret" is , they only go up to size 38, and they still don't fit me. Won't be going back anytime soon. Hated this one, but hey- I tried something new. They are not all going to be home runs.
    7) Ignoring toxic acquaintances. Life is too short to waste on people who do not truly matter to me. Especially my co-worker who commented that I could have lost the same amount of weight at Jenny Craig and surgery was "ridiculous" and a "lazy" way to deal with my "issues". I give myself props for not tipping her out of her desk chair. The old me might have done that, or obsessed about doing it! Smile and nod, and walk away.
    8) I traded in some of my sensible flats and loafers for some pretty mid-heel pumps. I can wear them all day with out my feet hurting or swelling.
    9) skinny jeans. 'nuff said. Especially when paired with aforementioned pumps.
    10) I have always loved my hubby. I love him a lot more often now if you catch my drift. Lots of extra energy these days. He is not complaining about this one for sure!
What new new found confidences have you experienced? I'd love to hear some from you

Hey there! I just sent you a private message, but I was just sleeved a week ago by Dr. Schroder (3/27) and I'm so excited for you!! You will do great and let me know if you have any questions. I'm by NO means an expert, but since surgery was so recent, I can help you with my experiences.
    Good luck!!!!

Freak the calories, it's going to be hard enough to get in your fluids at first, Water and Protein, just do what you can, and have your coffee, it won't hurt you!!! But you may have to decide on a different one after cause that is a lot of calories? Try new things, your tastes for things is going to change after the surgery!!! Trust me mine has!!!

What I learned 2 months ago prior to surgery is that it is feast or famine with the surgeons for everyone here, either you eat normally, that is no diet, eat moderately, or eat sparingly with much restriction. Whatever your plan is, deal with it. Distract yourself, find things to keep you occupied, shop, read, eat many popsicles lol, because before you know it your surgery time will be here and you will barely remember being deprived!! What is wonderful right now is that screaming hunger pain I always felt has gone somewhere else, and I am so thankful. You will be so thankful you suffered a little to get this end result. It is wonderful! God Bless!

Hi. I went back and forth all say trying to decide if I should post this or not, because I saw a similar post a few weeks ago, and in my opinion, the comments to the lady that posted were downright rude and condescending. I decided to go ahead and post, because this is supposed to be a forum of support for times when were having a hard time, right?!?! Please be kind to me if you choose to reply...
I'm having the sleeve this coming Thursday and have been on a preop Atkins induction diet for the past 11 days (high Protein and low carb) Last week, I followed it perfectly, drank my Water, logged my intake, and totally kept my carbs to below 20 as instructed. I lost 12 pounds. However this week, as surgery approaches, I'm finding it harder and harder to stay on track, and much hungrier. I start my day off well and as the day goes on, I do worse and worse. I have eaten a big dessert or candy anything like that, but I sneak a slice of cheese, or a handful of sesame seeds in mindlessly. I was never much of a snacker at all, but these past few nights, I keep sabotaging myself and grabbing whatever foods I see. Is this "head hungger"? Or stress eating? I don't know. I just hope this doesn't mean that I'm not ready for the surgery and that I will fail once again post op. Wow is this a hard adjustment already. Anyone else ever feel this way getting so close to surgery, feeling stressed and finding it hard to stick to the preop diet?!?!

I think this is a symptom of emotional eating with a healthy dose of self sabotage. My guess is you're going to be fine for your surgery but only if you can nip it in the bud now. One suggestion I would try to to keep a notebook or even the recorder option of your phone handy. Before you eat ANYTHING, take a minute or two to reflect on what it is and why it's going in your mouth. You may still make the less positive choice, but when you identify those moments where you're feeling out of control, you'll have more ammo to combat them in the future. Just think about 8-9 months from now where the physical deterrents from eating too much have gone away and you are simply left with your head making the decisions. You'll be happy for the practice now!
