1. Everyone has given good advice. I remember I had to take a client to lunch when I was on full liquids. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and just "played around with it". No one noticed at all and I took the "left overs" home to my husband. I suggest ordering a cup of Soup for an appetizer and have a few sips, then a piece of fish (even a shrimp appetizer-I even did this sometimes before my surgery). Bottom line-it's all how you handle it-make it "not a big deal" and no one will pay attention. Good luck!

  2. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me. I am on purees for another 10 days. It is definitely getting boring and I am a vegetarian so that makes it even more restrictive. Lots of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta. I still need 2 shakes a day to meet my Protein goal. I have noticed that I am able to handle slightly thicker textures now- still no big or solid chunks but I have "graduated" from baby food applesauce to regular applesauce!

Tiredmama-we have same date. Have you pureed a hamburger pattie? I thought it would be gross, but added mustard and ketchup and it was actually good. Thinned it out with a little broth. I did chicken too-didn't like it as much. Do you like hot & sour Soup? I pureed that too...

  3.
June 20th, 2014, doing great so far, had a little setback on Saturday, blood pressure got so low, I almost passed out, I was just starting on Cottage cheese, so I ate my half cup of that, and drank a V8 juice, brought it up some, but felt lousy the rest of the day. so after I started eating food, I have put on 1 lb.

Don't worry that is normal.. You will lose all that extra weight in a day or 2 max.. Believe me the more i ate the more weight i lost, and stalls are 100% normal especially starting week 5 .. Try to eat 5 meals a day.. I know its not easy, but try.. BUT, always keep in mind, low calorie, low fat and low sugar food....

    Good luck

How many calories do you eat per day? I'm on puréed and get around 500( to get my 60 GMS of protein).

  4. Gotta say purees are way better than liquids only! I had baby applesauce sprinkled with cinnamon for breakfast, cottage cheese for lunch and mashed potatoes for dinner. The only thing I am trying to figure out is how to get the liquids in between meals since the meals take a while and I am not supposed to drink before or after each meal. I may need to set a schedule! I will be on purees for 3 weeks.

Tiredmama-is your stomach growling like crazy after you "eat" your puréed food?

  5. July 22 here. I think there are a couple of july threads somewhere but I couldnt tell you where. I would love to keep up with everyone!

    I'm July 22nd as well!!

In 2 weeks my life will be changed forever.

To anyone that has already has this surgery.....info or advice on what to pack!??

I'm supposed to stay one night after surgery and want to be as comfy as possible. Do we

Bring our own pjs? What about the drive home...stretchy shorts I'm assuming!!?

    Sooooooooo ready!!

I overpacked. I didn't use anything other than a hair brush, toothbrush and toothpaste. You don't need pj's or a robe. I was there less than 24 hrs and left wearing the same thing I wore in (big comfy tshirt and lounge pants and flip flops). Good luck!

  6. A little itchy-I'll just be glad when the soreness on the left heals up. When I walk it feels like I need to wear Spanx or some kind of support

I'm not itchy. I'm bitchy. I think I've been in this nunnery a little too long! I need to be out and about with actual human beings (who aren't on a television set). Although I don't know what I'd talk about...except my gas, my favorite liquids, my incredible bad breath -- yeah, maybe it's better that I just live out the rest of m life alone in front of the TV. My recommendation for anyone contemplating bariatric surgery: Don't do it during summer reruns!

    Exactly!!

  7. Thanks everyone! I was thinking my surgeon said soft foods at 30 days. Really though I don't know what to do for that that's actually good for me. I guess Soup. chicken does not feel good. Wish I had a recipe book.

You can have canned tuna with fat free mayo, avocados, scrambled eggs, baked, broiled or grilled fish, and any meat that has been cooked all day in the crockpot when you are at the soft food stage.

I still on full liquids but I bought a book (Amazon/Kindle) called Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook. It has great ideas and recipes for each stage. I think it's awesome because I'm not that creative and really wanted some input for puréed and soft foods.

  8. Morning, June 30th buddies! Hope everyone is well today. I'm getting a little better and stronger each day. I got down 2 -- 8 oz Protein Shakes and 2 -- 6 oz bottles of Water, a little bit of tea, Jello, and a couple of sugar free pops. I found this blog with recipes for protien ice cream that I'm going to try--cold stuff if going down way better. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2010/02/protein-ice-cream-101.html Have a great day everyone!

I think I'm going to get some Soups today ie Thai , hot and sour, wonton, etc. will strain the solids out of them and hope they aren't too salty. Still sore on my left side but drinking is easier.

  9. I'm doing better each day. Left side is still sore i.e. tough to roll up out of bed, but even that is improving each day. I walked more and had more stamina today. I started full liquids-I was happy I was able to get shakes down with no problem. Can anyone recommend a good Soup? (low sodium is now too salty and pop sicles are too sweet/tart). My list also includes SF FF fudgsicles so I need to find those. I'd really like a yummy soup though....I'll be on full liquids until day 14 then move to pureed.< /p>

    How's everyone else?
