How true, I've lost my best friend of over twenty five years through WL, and I haven't had the surgery yet. When I think back she encouraged me to fail each and every time I started a new diet and WL regime..... This time I am not being stopped. Sad, but I lost my friend not my life...... Your boyfriend may be struggling to accept the changes this surgery may bring to you and your relationship. But don't be surprised if you have to choose. Good luck and I really hope that he turns the corner.

I think this is an excellent idea. Stalls are an issue for everyone & it's always interesting to see how other people deal with their stall. I stalled & if I hadn't seen the issue about carbs I would not have known to cut back on them.

I feel the same luv. I worry, why am I stalled? What am I doing wrong? What could I do better? Why me? Is my procedure not working? Did the surgeon do the procedure correctly? What do I need to do? Will I 'turn a corner'? Will I ever lose weight?
Saying that my body shape is changing, I look and feel slimmer, but the scales are not confirming it......
Did the surgeon give you any clues as to why this is happening?
    Good luck to you x

I'm in Spain at the mo, so don't have details, back next week so will let you know then.
As an aside, anyone going on holiday soon, I'm staying in a very nice hotel for a week with a great buffet Breakfast so it's been easy to take a few extra items for the rest of the day and they have a juice bar which is proving to be a joy. I think I'd be struggling otherwise, as the meals here are expensive and huge, I've only had a couple but been asked by worried waiters if there is something wrong as I've only managed a few mouthfuls lol. Lessons keep on coming!

I have dieted for the better part of 20 yrs. To me i have never worked harder than i do now to lose the weight. I think its because i see the progress much more. I never went to the gym 5 days a week or paid so much attention to what i ate. Thsi may be the easier way because we have the help of not being able to stuff our faces but this has been the hardest "diet" i have ever been on. So anyone that says this is the easy way out has no room to talk unless they have walked that mile in our shoes!!

So a friend at church approached me this morning and said "I hear you're having surgery. Is it the band or bypass?" Weird thing is I don't know how she knew because I have only told 1 person at church (well I guess then I do know how she knew). I told her bypass and she said "oh I talked to my doctor about surgery but she wants me to do it the hard way with diet and exercise."
Two things... This friend has no idea she is one of the reasons I looked into surgery. She is very overweight, unable to stand for long during choir practices and has diabetes and high blood pressure. I don't want to see myself in her situation in 5-10 years. Watching her struggle made me start to look into surgery.
And secondly, her doctor says she wants her to do it the hard way but in my friends case it will most likely never happen without surgery. Very sad
After she sees my great success, I will slip her the name of my surgeon and encourage her to ignore her primary doctor and go for a surgery consult and take the easy way out! Lol

It's funny how people seem to think dieting is so easy. Just 'push away from the table, tubby'. You wouldn't tell a drug addict that it's easy to quit, just stop taking the drugs. Well guess what, you can quit drugs, and you never have to do them again. But you can't quit food. You still have to eat, three to six times a day. Good people don't offer recovering adicts drugs, but have no problem offering overweight or dieting people food. Why are we seen as weak willed and lazy. If we were addicted to drugs they would embrace us for trying to change.

I'm in the process of doing research and stuff on whether or not I'm going to get surgery, and I've already noticed this. My healthy weight friends and family are all "if it helps you be healthy, go for it! Get healthy girl!" My overweight friends look at me like I'm a cheating heathen to even consider it. It's so weird to me.

8yrs ago i as 350lbs happy healthy and out preformed guys 1/2 my weight at my physically demanding job. Then 1 day i was up on a ladder and lost feeling in my legs, i spent 2yrs a prisoner to my home. Back surgeons refused to work on me until I lost 100 pounds, naturally being immobile I only gained weight ballooning to 450lbs unemployed & depressed! Fast forward again another 6 months and I have my surgery 8/24/09 @ 425lbs. Now im 215lbs for 4yrs and holding. Well 3yrs ago this B@#*$ says to me "oh you took the easy way out" so I said to her "yeah kinda like your father who took the easy way out and got a liver transplant" that didn't go over too well... lol

I'm five months (almost six) post-op VSG. I'm 73.4 pounds down and stuck in the longest stall, but I'm still seeing changes in my body shape and contour. A long way to go still, but at least I'm going in the right direction.

Too true...... Jenpez..... Having passed exams does not always make a wise person...... My grandmother used to say only judge people when you've walked a mile in their shoes.... How wise was she????

    Oh jenpez
I've even experienced the same bad attitude from medical professionals, and they have their medical degrees!!!!! Of course all we need to do is eat less and move more!!!! So, yeah, I keep my trap shut, and roll with it. But then I think that's their ignorance. I mostly can't be bothered to challenge people. Also it can be unsaid. I went to see a nurse at out surgery and she was all smiles and chatty, until she asked what did you have done? When I told her it looked as though a nasty smell got under her nose, discrimination? So **** to them all, small minded qualified and armchair experts. We are doing something about turning our lives around, and if they don't like it, then it's their problem. I agree 100 percent, major surgery is not an easy option!!!!!
