  1. Has anyone here been referred to the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth Hospitals? Be really great to contact anyone who has, or, is with this team. Hope to hear soon
  2. So, I made another phone call, 'Oh, just checking, I had a missed call today, could that have been you?' Well, of course I knew the answer was no, because I made it up...... But whilst she was on the phone, she would like to offer me a provisional date, WHAT!!!!!!!! 'Oh, yes?', Mrs Cool answers, 13th May any good? it's NOT but got to move heaven and earth and my mind goes blank, smiling sweetly, dunno why. Got to have bloods and an ECG done, much chatting later, hang up. Then it hits me, I've got an appointment this Friday with the anaesthetist , So, back on the phone I go, answer phone again. Then the second call comes through yes, we can get it all done on the same day. Oh, then she says, it all depends on the anaesthetist if you can proceed....

  6. Tell us about the carbs plz Hun. I'm trying to not eat too many, as they have never really agreed with my many diets over the years. But in my recommended menus from the hospital, there are quite a few carbs, so although I'm doing as I've been told, not cheating, exercising and working really hard I am in a terrible stall, only five/six weeks out. So, I'm wondering if it's the horrid carbs again!!!! Help plzzzzzz
  7. Hi luv. I'm almost six weeks and stalled also...... AND have the same worries as you too..... I lost in the first two weeks, then nothing, apart from one lonely pound that keeps coming and going!!!!! I'm due to see my consultant next Friday, so I'll let you know what his opinion is, good luck Hun. Try not to worry too much x

    Not losing

Thank you for that nx4slim. It's reassuring to hear the professionals saying that. Glad you're losing inches too. I would hate it should we be losing nothing at all. I have been looking at photos from my heaviest and can see clearly that things are shifting, I'm gonna ignore the scales for a bit, not get so tied up with it. Well, at least try. Some of my clothes are really big on me, so something is happening x

    Not losing

I feel the same luv. I worry, why am I stalled? What am I doing wrong? What could I do better? Why me? Is my procedure not working? Did the surgeon do the procedure correctly? What do I need to do? Will I 'turn a corner'? Will I ever lose weight? Saying that my body shape is changing, I look and feel slimmer, but the scales are not confirming it...... Did the surgeon give you any clues as to why this is happening? Good luck to you x

    Not losing

There are so many people that have success with bariatric surgery, that when you struggle you feel that you are doing something wrong. I have stuck to sample menus from the specialist teams in the hospital, increased my intake, as recommended by other members, but not much happening at all. And I go straight back to feeling that it's all my fault...... I must be doing something wrong.... I am very active, drink loads of Water, eat Protein and don't cheat!!!!! So why am I just 6.5 kilos (just over 14 pounds) down in six weeks????? (eleven pounds was in the first week), so strange.... Anyone out there been through the same thing, and then turned a corner????? HELP......

    Not losing

Me too. I lost 5 kilos in the first week, then nothing for 5 weeks. I was told by another bariatric pal member to make sure I was eating enough. So, very nervously I increased the volume and lost another kilo the next dat, then nothing, then half a kilo. So it appears to be a balancing act. I kept feeling that maybe my procedure didn't work, as I wasn't losing much, I always feel hungry and I apart from vomiting I haven't really suffered....... Good luck got the future x

    The Two Week Milk Diet

Just a quick note (so busy) you made me really look at what I'm eating. My first reaction was to cut carbs. And then I looked at the carbs I eat, they are wholesome, you're right. The old me just blamed myself...... Of course. Well, then I looked at how much I've been eating. And really it appeared not enough. I was so very scared of eating too much and stretching my new tummy. Well, the last two days I've made an effort to increase my intake, and not worry too much about the carbs, as I'm following the menus from hospital. And I just jumped on the scales and have lost a kilo!!!! Wow. So maybe I really wasn't eating enough for my busy life???? I hope that's it and I can carry on with the weight loss, hopefully. Thank you again for your support.

    The Two Week Milk Diet

Hi kimba It's funny that you ask at the same time I'm here working it out. I'm looking at what I'm eating, and thinking, what could I not eat before surgery, on all of the diets I've been on before CARBS!!!!!! They really don't do me any good. On our recommended meals, for weeks 4-8, soft/ crunchy consistency, there are quiet a lot of carbs. And yes I try to have protein. But I think I need to push more into me, and less carbs. I will say, although I am comfortable eating most of what is on the menus, protein is the only thing that seems to get 'stuck', so I'm going to work at it. And yes....... My clothes are getting lose, and I think I have lost from my face and neck too, although the scales are saying something else!!!! I have a very physical job and work long hours so I haven't been taking 'exercise' yet, but I can tell you that I am almost back to full strength, and when work quietness down I'll be back to aqua aerobics, I love it..... And of course walking. I'm lucky enough to live at the beach/ coast, so I enjoy that too. Thank you so much for making me think deeper about what's going on with my weight loss. I'll keep you posted ????

    The Two Week Milk Diet

I'm not surprised really, I was shocked when I saw the size of the capsules. We are told to chew our food, and chew, chew and chew again. I'm lucky that they slip down with me. I don't know if the GPs can prescribe Centrum. The chewable multivitamins, I bought them when I was on the milk diet, fruity, and don't taste too bad. ????
  23. Seems to me that the sleeve and band topics are more supported. Is this just because, or do you think other options are more fashionable? Or is there more to it than that? I wanted a bypass an was told that a sleeve would suit me better, then I was told by the dietician that I was down for a bypass.
  24. luckyknickers57

Don't they want to do the bypass in the UK anymore?

Well I've had my surgery, and it turns out I had bypass. They couldn't do the hernia repair, but will at a later stage. I lost six kilos ( 13.2 lbs) quite quickly, but have been suffering with chronic constipation for over a week and lived on just water for that time, so no weight loss for that time. So I'm looking forward to some more loss now I'm back to eating.

    The Two Week Milk Diet

Willow, I got Forceval capsules (multivitamins) and Adcal-D3 (calcium and vitamin D) as directed by the hospital. I bet you're right about the non weight loss, coz when I used to diet I found if I didn't judge it just right I wouldn't loose anything, so maybe now I'm back on track, eating again, I might got back on the weight loss. If I could turn the clock back I would have postponed the op, as it's not really the op itself that has caused problems getting back to heavy work, but other complications, like the chronic constipation...... But I would not have cancelled x
