  1. Thank you all. As far as soft foods go, I can have them now. My drs orders are liquids only the day of surgery after u get back home. This also includes strained cream soups. Then starting the day after is soft foods for 2 weeks. That is when mt follow up appt is, so I will find out whats next then.
  2. I was banded yesterday. I got to the hospital at 7:30 for a 9:30 surgery but they didn't start until around 10:00. I was home resting by 4:30. The pain is not as bad as I thought it would be. I slept half the night in a recliner and the other half in my bed. I was sent home with a OnQ med pump. It is basically a numbing medicine and a script for Ultram. I am walking a lot. I also had ahernia repair. That is where most of the discomfort is coming from. My pre-op diet consisted of 3 Protein shakes and Water for 2 weeks. I lost 32 lb doing that - which shocked me. I can start eating soft foods today and can have only that for the next 2 weeks until my follow-up appt. I am hoping the hardest is over with. Becky

  4. ThThank you all. The information is so helpful. For me, this is an outpatient surgery. Not too sure how I feel about that. I like the thought of being at home resting, but I also like the thought of being in a quiet hospital room. There are seven people in out home and 2 of them are very active boys - one 14yo and one 8yo. But regardless, I will be home tomorrow afternoon sometime. Hubs is going by the store tonight after work to pick up last minute things so any more suggestions would be helpful.
  5. I am finishing up my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow and will have surgery Wednesday morning. My question is what will I need to have at home for and during my recovery. All information is appreciated. Thanks Becky

    HELP!

Thaks everyone. I am actally allowed up to 4 shakes a day but I do good to get 3 down Its not a point of feeling hungry because amazingly I haven't. I guess its mlwillpower. Like I said I have not cheated in the slightest, but when you start smelling things like homemade bread baking, pizza in the oven, or even pancakes you start to wonder is 2 full weeks without any food at all really necessary for surgery. I know my liver has to shrink. Sometimes, I just dont want to leave the kitchen while the rest of my family is in there. Staying busy today helped alot and I plan on being busy tomorrow inside and out because no matter what I will NOT cheat. Becky
  7. I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday June 11. Only 6 more days WOOHOO! My pre-op diet consists of 3 Protein shakes a day and all the Water I want. I am now ending day 9 of the pre-op. 10 days ago I weighed 332 and today at my dr appt I weighed 317 - down 15 pounds. I have not cheated once - not even licking my fingers after fixing my 8yo something to eat. Now it is starting to become real difficult. There are 6 other people in my house -4 of them are adults. So someone is always cooking something and if not the one or both of my boys are eating something or the other. My daughter is 23yo and loves to try new recipes. Today she made homemade bread and fresh strawberry pie. She is not trying to be mean or anything. I understand they all have to eat. It is now just becoming more difficult to ignore. I woke up this morning extremely nauseated. My dr told that was to be expected from here up to the day of surgery. Now my stomach just simply hurts constantly (also to be expected). If I do very much I become weak and tired but I'm gonna try to get outside tomorrow and stay busy. Any other suggestions? Becky

    Any June banders?

Congrats to all on dates. Mine is June 11. I have to do 2 weeks of 3 protein shakes a day and water - nothing else. That starts on Wed. May 28th. I am shocked that it only took 2 days for my insurance to approve. Good luck and speedy recovery to all. Becky
  10. Thank you all for taking the time to respond. All of the information was very helpful. I have an appt. with a pulmonologist on Friday for clearance and my 4th weigh-in. I am scheduled to see my surgeon on March 6 and nutritionist on March 20. I still have to schedule an appt with a cardiologist but I have to get the referral for that. I will get in touch with my dr. about that tomorrow. I also have to have my pysch eval but I have to pay all out of pocket for that. I hoping I can do that within a week or 2. We will see.
  11. I will not be having my Lap-Band procedure until mid May or of first of June, but can anyone tell me about the diet immediately after post op. I am scheduled to have my concult with the surgeon in March. I am sure that each surgeon has their own specific directions to follow. I am just trying to figure out some things I should expect. Thanks in advance. Becky
  12. Hello All, I've only been on here for a few days and I'm still learning my way around. I am just starting the process of becoming banded. It wont happen until the middle of May at least. I know someone who recently started selling the "It Works" products and I was wondering if anyone here can give any type of advice on them? I do not have confidence in products of that type but I do know that I will have alot of excess skin down the road. I currently weigh 325 and am hoping I can get in the area of 175. I am 43 and have 3 children. I am just looking for advice that will help with the excess. Thanks Becky

    Jumping in

Thank you all for replying to my post and for welcoming me. I hope I have found a good place to be. I have sent my coordinatior an email and I'm hoping she gets back to me on Monday. I like the thought of keeping a journal and I am starting that today. I did that a while back when I was counting calories. I wrote everything down - not just what I ate, but what all was going on at the time and it was working great. I was losing weight actually 25 pounds and 44 inches in 7 weeks then my uncle and my father passed away and I could never get back on track. My mom and aunt have had gastric bypass. I never liked the thought of rerouting so it was never an option. I have been looking into lap band for a while and finally went to the seminar. I did find out that I have ironically seen my family dr on 11-19, 12-19, and 01-13 and that counts so I half way there as far as the weigh ins go. My surgeon only does lap bands once a week so I am looking at anywhere from mid May to first week of June for my surgery. At this point, I am only excited, not nervous at all. I'm sure I will have many questions along the way and any advice will be greatly appreciated. Becky
  14. I'm not sure how things are done on this site. So I guess I will start with an intro. I'm Becky 43yo sahmm of 3. I've been overweight for around 22 yrs. Tried several things over the years before getting to this point. I went to the lap band seminar 4 days ago and met with the surgery coordinator yesterday. My surgery is sometime after mid May. I just have one question for now. I was wondering if anyone here knows what kind of Protein shake Dr.Gerame Wells in Hopkinsville, KY will have me to drink? I was told this information at the seminar but I didn't think to write it down and I forgot. I know I have plenty of time but I want to do some price comparing before hand. Any information would be appreciated. Becky
