I feel the same. My surgery is Friday. Started liquid diet today. My partner is doing it too for support (she weighs 102). Right now I'm getting a pedicure, as usual feeling self conscious. I feel everyone looking at me and thinking how fat I am. So I have my earphones in my ears listening to music. I too feel weird eating out.
We have all made the best decision to take our lives back. My eight year daughter is so excited for mommy to get healthy. She tells me all of her friends laugh at me when I pick her up from school.
I hope to lose 70 pounds. I weigh 202 now. I welcome this lifestyle change. I think of all the great things to come.

I completely agree Pink!!! I eat whatever. Three kids and a husband to cook for, in school full time and all the extras make me very busy. I always have Protein Bars with me if there are no reasonable options but for the most part I eat what I want in small doses. I'm not a huge sweets fan since the surgery but I eat cheese and crackers ( multigrain) and I'll eat at friends' and families homes as well. Life is too short to count calories! If I'm hungry, I eat. So far I've lost 80 lbs and in 6 more lbs I'll be in the overweight category!!! (Not obese!!) I'm a size 12 and feel GREAT!!!
Try to relax a little bit and try different things. The surgery is a life changing thing for sure but it doesn't mean you have to be a prisoner to it.
    Good luck!!

Hi everyone! I was sleeved December 19, 2013! I had a rough time during Christmas when my auntie pulled that Mac and cheese out the oven. With my new eating habits I still eat a lot of chicken, turkey and some pork. Nothing cried which hearts my heart sometimes but it's for the best. Recently I was able to enjoy about 1/4 cup of cheese grits. It was a nice treat and so are collard greens with turkey. I am more aware of what I eat obviously, and passing on the pies, Cookies and fried foods that frequent the family gatherings. Sometimes I'll even take a tiny bit of everything and start with the Protein, by the time I get to the "good stuff" I'm full! My hair well, it's been drier than usual and my skin has actually been clearer than ever. I'm thinking it's the up In fluids. I've lost a total of 68.5lbs. My husband actually called me skinny he's ridiculous I'm 248lbs! It's been interesting to listen to family claim I'm "too" skinny or shouldn't lose anymore. I just think of how unhealthy I was before and how much better I feel now. I'm doing this for me and for my kids while I miss those fish frys I don't miss the back pain, aches, belly rolls and back fat!

My surgery date is April 8th and I am doing my pre op diet right now. My surgeon is Dr. Johnathan Wallace from the Kane Bariatric center. He tells me I will be in the hospital for a couple of nights. Am having the sleeve done at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. BCBS has been good for me too. Approved in about a week. I really appreciate the whole Kane Center. They have taught me that the sleeve is a tool to help me loose weight and the nutritionist is wonderful. I AM going to lose this weight to get healthy so I can play with my grandkids.

So far I've lost 38lbs, lost a total of 85lbs, I've gotten back into the gym, I can't fit ANY of my clothes since everything is way too small, my homies tell me that my head is shrinking as well as my body (please keep it clean!!!), my blood pressure is FINALLY starting to get under control, and I've learned the following:
1 - Some folks think of what you're doing as 'cheating', which I don't understand. The only thing I think I'm cheating is cheating death, since this journey is finally making me healthier.
2 - During this journey, you find out who your TRUE FRIENDS are...fortunately most of my friends have been extremely supportive!
3 - Even at 8 weeks out, if you try to eat too fast, you'll still bring the meal back up!! I have to keep in mind that the lifestyle change is forever, so I have to remember that the old adage of always cleaning your plate should stay as a thing in the past!
I wish everyone much, much success!!!

Yep I had my upper endoscopy (EGD) and the colonoscopy all at the same time. The only thing that hurt was paying for it. It's all to ensure that everything is okay before you are on the surgery table. I'd be afraid of a doctor that didn't require it. Good luck.

It's normal, it's not a big deal. They want to check for ulcers and hernias because if you have them it changes the course of your surgery.
