  1. I too am trying to find my groove....not enough food choices or should I say liquid choices. Hard for me to feel like I'm eating a meal. I'm just drinking as often as I can. Not even sure how many calories I'm consuming. Can't be that many but my weight isn't do much. Just kind of holding. I'm hoping a routine of some sort will flush out soon with more choices. Just feel like I'm doing this wrong. Is there a wrong way this early out? Had surgery may 20 th
  2. Curious as to when anyone added cheese into your list of foods. If so what kinds and how did your tummy accept it? I'm craving it right now!
  3. I too would recommend Park Nicollet/Methodist Hospital. They have been nothing but professional, and are a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. I had Dr. Thomas Jones do my surgery. He has been with Park Nicollet since the late 80's and has done numerous bariatric procedures. He has also been voted top Doc in Mpls St. Paul just about every year in a row. His personality is delightful; not stuffy at all! You won't regret a decision to use this team of experts!
  4. Some people forget that they were right where we are at some point in their journey....it's called the beginning! Somehow some seem to forget that. Remember for every bully there is a nice guy :-). I won't let the bullies silence me so I just disregard them and move on. This is your journey! Don't let anyone silence you and don't run from some great support on here. Maybe seek a few of those people out and friend them. Good luck!
  5. Prayers! Our God is able!
  6. RJ is right.....stay off the scale! I'm only a week out but had the same thing happen; heavier after I got home. Had my first post op visit today. Nurse said the Fluid, meds etc. should almost be out and the weight should start to come off a bit quicker now. I was (and am still) a chronic get on the scale girl; multiple times a day. That did and still does nothing for me good in the long run. I'm going to take RJ's challenge and stay off of it until my next post op appointment which is June 19th. I'm actually bringing it down to my moms house. I have to get into the mindset that the number and the scale CANNOT define me and that if I stay the course and stay on plan that I WILL LOSE! Trying to make this about a lifestyle change, feeling better and the smaller size being the bonus. Good luck! Stay the course and Trust the Process!
  7. DIdn't come close to getting all the liquids in; maybe 24 ounces. No protein shakes or other for me. I had my first post op today. I have to double the amount of liquids...minimum! Will go to full liquids tomorrow for 2 weeks. I'm hoping adding in the protein shakes, soups, yogurt will help. Just give me ANYTHING with some texture!
  8. Thanks WIllow. So far no redness or oozing. I knew it would be sore because my stomach AND gallbladder were taken out through that hole. Just didn't anticipate this pain! BUt....each day is getting better PTL.
  9. CUpcake: I have been able to walk a bit more and it seems to be doing better. All I know is that I really am hungry! I thought my hunger was supposed to be diminished lol! I really don't think it's the head hunger thing. All I know is that I can hardly wait to get on the full liquids...a little pudding would even feel substantial at this point!
  10. With regards to incisions......the largest one if VERY painful! Feels like my stomach is twisting, makes it hard to walk or sit. Trying not to take pain meds. Only 4 days out. Any thoughts on this?
  11. These suggestions helped me as well! Today I think I drank a little too much too soon. I have felt pressure in my upper quadrent and chest. Hiccups, burps. Don't know if I have to let that feeling pass before I begin to sip again? Any suggestions? How much time in between do you rest before drinking again. Perhaps I've just been sipping all day without any real purposefulness....does that makes sense?
  12. Sleeved yesterday....1 st day post op. For me more of a pressure and achy feeling all over with the exception for the larger incision site which is what kills. No real nausea which is what I was most afraid of. Swallow test this morning looked good. So if all goes as planned I will be going home tomorrow. :-)
  13. Packed and ready to go for tomorrows 11:20 check in and 1:30 surgery time. Starting to feel the nerves....eeekkkkk!!!! All done talking about it. Time to GET ER DONE! :-) See you on the losers bench!
  14. Prayers to all who are having the surgery within the next few days! I'm with most of you.....nerves, packing, nerves, cleaning, nerves, drinking shakes, nerves, nerves with a little bit of fear sprinkled in. In spite of it all this IS the right decision for me and I WILL be transformed inside and out! Pep talk complete (funny thing is...I'm a soon to be fully licensed marriage and family therapist ha!!) Head to heart is where it's at! Decision is 99 percent in the heart now so...I can deal with the 1 percent that resides in my head :-) Tuesday....Here I come! See you all on the losers bench!!
  15. Have done really well on preop until tonight :-(. I had the most obvious emotional eating experience after Grad class when some uncomfortable exchanges occurred. I have never been more aware of reaching for food because of anger. I have to look at this as an ah ha moment and not a moment of failure. Hard for us perfectionists. Tomorrow is another day and I now know to be more mindful of my feelings and their correlation with food. May 20 th can't come soon enough!
  16. Good luck Niasia!! A few of us are right behind ya! :-)
  17. Got my surgery date......May 20th. Eeeekkkk!!!! On the Pre-op right now. About to chew my arm off :-)
  18. I have used the search often and come up with "no results found". I don't know....maybe I'm putting in the wrong words. None the less, I approach this forum kind of like any other social media forums (ie. facebook). If I don't want to read it I just move on or remove myself. Really isn't that big of a deal.
  19. Well look at it this way....savor every one of those "sucky" partial food meals because shortly you will be having liquids only :-) I'm thinking my preop is liquid only to get me used to the fact that this is how it will be in a few short days longer. Hang in there and eat one of those yummy things for me! :-)
  20. I would probably pay a thousand bucks right about now for some food!! lol!! I am hungry!!
  21. Hey All! I decided to try something to help me through this pre-op liquid diet. I bought some popsicle forms and poured my protein shake into them and froze them so that i could "chew" something other than popsicles. Mmmm Mmmm good! Chocolate Mocha protein fudgesicle! Loving it!!
  22. Tried something new. Poured my Protein shake into popsicle molds and froze it. Mmmmm Mmmmm good! Tastes like a chocolate mocha fudgesicle. Delightful for a change!
  23. I'm with you Danielle! I thought I'd be nervous the night before however, I can't seem to think about much of anything but next Tuesday! Trying to keep busy...cleaning cupboards, stocking up on Powerade, cleaning the Fridge, reading and re-reading my binder thinking by doing so I will know EXACTLY how slow to drink or eat knowing full well it will be a trial and error thing ha! Trial and error is ok....as long as it doesn't include vomiting lol! Almost to the land of Oz and then I'll be clicking my heels...theres nothing like health and skinny 3 times until I fit into those size 10 jeans I bought! LETS GO!!!!!
  24. Kelly: I'm glad to hear you're coming along well! I have many of the things in the cupboards that you mention in your post. Here's hoping they work well for me too! I've done my part and am COUNTING on the Lord to do His thing! He's never failed me yet! Rome
  25. Cupcake/MommaD - I'm with you! Ready to get this show on the road! Keeping busy so that I don't chew my arm off during this liquid diet phase :-) Today was cleaning out all the cupboards and fridge and organizing the containers I will use, putting protein shakes, poweders, soups, gatorade away etc. Next Tuesday can't get here quick enough! My nerves are starting to kick in like yours MommaD about drinking and eating after this. Will I go too fast? Will I not chew it thoroughly enough? All of the unknowns that we will learn by trial and error I guess. I just don't want my trial and error to include vomiting lol! Keep in touch all!
