So great to be off of two meds! Do a little dance and get that scale out of the house. You are going to drive yourself nuts.......

I weigh myself everyday, usually twice a day...when I first get up, and later at the gym.....
First, I have to say my weight loss journey has stopped 2 years ago...I am at a optimal Body fat %...there is nothing left to loose other than lean muscle, and that would be unhealthy.
I say that to set a baseline......
Weighing myself everyday, I have noticed how normal it is for my weight to rise and fall within the same 5 lbs...everyday it is something different, can even see it change throughout the day....
IU can be 3 lbs up fro yesterday, then tomorrow I'm down 2, next day up 1, then down 4...
I say this because all too often I see people getting upset over 2-3 lbs here and there...IT IS NORMAL....there is NOTHING WRONG.....
You have to look at the big picture...believe in the band, live by it's guidance by eating right and differently, and your body will adjust by dropping the weight....

Hi everyone ! I was originally banded in 2007. I lost 50 lbs initially , then had several band issues and had Fluid removed. I've gained back about 30 lbs but luckily didn't return to my pre-op weight. My band has been empty for a couple of years now. I had an UGI/KUB yesterday to check band placement and for any possible issues. Everything looks good , just a wide open band. So yesterday I re-started my journey . I'm having to reteach myself the bandy lifestyle! Please feel free to offer up your most helpful tricks of the trade

Hi and welcome. Your question about less of an appetite is complicated. It's not like a light switch that goes on or off. It's a process...and it takes some longer than others. All I can say is listen very closely to your band. Don't eat more than you should...even if you can. Eat when you are truly hungry and not because you are bored, or upset, or any of the reasons emotional eaters lose control. Good luck...ask your doctor or nutritionist about support groups and feel free to come here as often as necessary.

Hi Aasma, I'm Italian and live in Milan. This forum is great and supportive.
It was lucky of me to have found it!
I was banded 2 years and 8 months ago. I lost 50/52 kg the first year, but gained 4/5 the second year, but I think only few people can maintain their lowest weight. I 've been the same weight for nearly a year now.
When I was banded I was 59 years old and, as you write, il was my last chance. That's why I was absolutely determined to make my band work.

Hi there, I am just shy of three months out and so happy with my new banded life. I was nervous about the surgery as I'd never been an overnight hospital patient before and I think we all get the jitters beforehand. Plus the pre-op diet kind of dials things up as we are not tamping down stress with food anymore. For me, the surgery was so much easier than I thought it would be. I was elated. Yes, some discomfort but it felt purposeful -- a great cause. Me! It wasn't like being ill or having to endure real pain. I knew exactly what was going on thanks to so many people here on the forum. A super positive attitude really helped me, and the walking. I walked and walked. This kicked off the healing in my body and helped me shrug off the anesthesia. I had a prescription pain prescription filled but didn't use it -- got by on Tylenol and Ibuprofen and after a few days did not need those. So much easier than dentistry in my book (and I've only had one root canal) or having my back really out, a cracked rib, etc. So much easier than any of that and quick healing with a laparoscopic procedure.

    Aasma,
You'll do great! These feelings are completely normal! I'm the biggest baby there is when it comes to Dr.'s, pokes, surgeries etc., so if I can do it anyone can! :-)
The rewards are so worth it! Just follow the instructions the Dr. gives you to the T, if you have any problems call them immediately.
I didn't expierence alot of pain, just more discomfort than anything and that was caused from the gas pains. The incisions themselves didn't hurt me at all. The best thing to do (even though you aren't going to feel like it) is walk around as much as possible, walk around the living room in cirlcels, just anything to get that gas moving so you can get it out of your system, the more you sit the worse it will get. Make sure you have Gas-X Strips, sugar free Popsicles, Mylanta, lots of pillows, a heating pad (to place where the gas pains are) helped me alot, SF Jello was a life saver, Protein shakes, (I use nectar chocolate Truffle), and just sip, sip, sip. You want to make sure you stay hydrated.
Congrats to the new healthy you taking shape. YOU GOT THIS!!!

I am not going to lie let's start by saying what most people have said ask your doc for the pre op diet he/she wants to give you and follow that , also ask for the post op diet he/she wants you to have , ok HERE it goes it is hard and you will want to eat and feel like your starving and can't get enough DRINK LOTS OF Water, to try and keep full it does get better though before you know it you are banded then it will feels like your starving again , but don't try to do to much right away after surgery as you just had major surgery , it really does get better , but do try to walk around your house so you can get the air out , don't be scared I am not trying to scare you I am just trying to help cause they don't tell you that you want to bite every bodies head off from feeling like your starving , get someone to help you if you have children to make meals because just the thought of smelling food made my stomach growl and yes I would cry cause I wanted to eat food , but couldn't for the first few days , then when it came time for y mushies I was so happy I still wanted food but I stuck with my sf Jello and sf pudding and even froze some pudding so I could eat it like a popsicle , well good luck on your journey.
