Listen to what everyone else just said. You are taking a great risk. Throw all the bad food away. And start again from the next bite. Try to remember the behavior that got you where you are and the reasons you had this surgery. Be kind to yourself!

    bigloser2014 got a reaction from BeagleLover in I've been lurking . . . time to post . . . really nervous
Being nervous is natural! It would be strange if you were not nervous!
One piece of advice: Follow post-op diet and advice to the T. No use messing with such a major surgery! And one more piece of advice: When in doubt, ask questions. Don't hesitate in calling your doctor about medical stuff and for everything else, post here. I find that what I am going through and feeling, someone has already gone through!
    Good luck! Keep us posted!

I think I didn't get a copy of your privacy policy would you mind asking the office manager to bring it to me right now before we go further in this discussions ?
Perhaps she could join our discussion and you can rephrase that comment to me
Needless to say she did not return and a different med tech did. Who said nothing.

bigloser2014 got a reaction from labwalker in Hiding the scale!
So, after weeks of slow wt. loss followed by a stall when I started weight training, I asked my daughter to hide my scale and not return it even if I beg for it! I tested her this weekend and she did not give in! She will give it back in at least 2 weeks but I think I might not take it back. I would love to see a big loss for once even if it takes a few weeks of not checking! Can I find it if I try to look for it? Sure. It's my house and I know every inch of it but who will I be hurting?
Clothes are fitting loser. I feel so much energy, more than I have felt in years! Why worry about the number on the scale?
    This too "stall" pass! lol.

This was the hardest decision of my life. I had many doubts and still have some everyday. And that is after all the research and support from wonderful resources like this website. Why combine that with the doubts of other people, especially the ones that are ignorant and do not know their facts? And I wanted to concentrate on my health and wellbeing and not on educating anyone who may never understand! Those were my reasons!

Please do not compare yourself with others in the weight loss department. Each person is different and has a different body chemistry so therefore no one loses at the same speed. what this does is make people feel like their surgery is not as successful as another's.
This is not a race this is a journey so please when you are replying to this thread. Don't look at others weight loss as a I failed because I only lost 35 lbs in 3 months.

I did not tell anyone. The only people who know are the ones I live with, i.e., my husband and 2 daughters. Aside from that, my Mom knows who I am very close to and I knew would support me. I intentionally kept it quiet. I did not want to have to defend and explain my decision. I also did not care to be under a radar and be judged. The decision is yours and very personal. Also, depends on your support system. For me, it was cultural. I come from a culture where people like me are called "fat" to their face and are asked, "Why can't you exercise self control?" I did not want to waste my energy trying to educate the ignorant in my life. Whatever decision you make, Good Luck!

Started this journey back in December 2013! I was denied by bcbs because they didn't think it was medically needed! After writing a letter to the appeal there decision and my doctor having a peer to peer. Finally I have been approved. Going in to see my surgeon today to schedule surgery. It's hasn't been a easy road but I was not gonna take no for a answer. So I a true witness and I want to encourage someone else to just keep pushing.

    hmmmmm....macaroni salad.........
okay, now that i'm back to reality, i agree. hang in there! i would have done the same. then i would have come home and cried to my hubs because all of my friends and family look healthy and well, and i would have been squeezed into some 22-24 capri pants that were tight in the waist but hung off my butt, because that's the size i needed for my waist; and some t-shirt that i had already worn a million times to other things....then i would have hated myself for not being comfortable talking to anyone because i felt so bad about how i looked, and i would have felt badly for ignoring hub's family members, because even though i like them all, i had ZERO self esteem and was always on the defense.
then i would have spent the night reading one of the million diet books i have on my shelf and deciding that 'Monday, i'm going to start'...and boosted myself up all weekend, only for Monday to come and me to keep eating...

bigloser2014 got a reaction from Thankstoall in Acid Reflux..What I learnt..
5 years ago, my doctor out me on Prilosec once a day to control my Asthma symptoms. At that time, I did not have any acid reflux. Fast forward 3 years, I was determined to get off some meds and did a detox to make my allergies & Asthma better. Getting off Prilosec was the hardest. Here is what I learnt then:
    - There is a condition called Rebound Reflux which is caused when you try to leave PPI inhibtors. I DID NOT have any acid reflux when I was put on Prilosec but got severe reflux when I tried to leave it. I was miserable to a few weeks but detemined. What helped me in those days was reseaching ways to naturally treat reflux, like oatmeal, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, eating small meals and chewing gum after dinner. With all of that I was able to manage my reflux without medication for most part. There were times when I needed tums but only a few times a month. Nothing major.
So think about that when you try to leave PPI drugs post surgery. You will most probably experience rebound reflux.
Fast forward again, to my recent changes in diet and drinking Protein Shakes, I was hit with bad reflux once again. I did some more research and found something very interesting on a blog:
    - Making Protein shakes in high speed blenders causes the bubbles to form in the shake. All those bubbles can potentially cause reflux. I was willing to test that theory. I continued to make my shakes in my Vitamix but made the shake at least a hour. I found that a full glass fresh out of the blender was always reduced to 2/3 of a glass. So, 1/3rd was just bubbles. That helped my reflux right away. I also stopped over-blending. Just blended long enough for everything to mix and then put it in a Blender Bottle. That helped too! I have had to take Prilosec again a couple of times in the last 2 weeks but that's okay. I know I may need it after the surgery and I am ready! H
Hope this post helps someone! Have a good day!

The funniest one: One co-worker who I meet in halls everyday has said this to me for the last 5 days in a row, "Wow! That color looks so good on you!" And I have worn a different color everyday!
Thought I would share. lol !

Thought I would share my success:
So, this morning I had to try about 20 outfits to find one that was not falling off me! There is a big pile of clothes that don't fit on my bed.
In the past, it was the reverse! The pile would consist of clothes that were too tight!
Not a single pair of my office pants fits me anymore. So, I am going to use my 30% kohls coupon today to buy a couple of pairs to ride me over.
Down from pant size 22 to 16!
    YAY!

great job. It is a wonderful feeling! I have been stuck in a 12 for 3 months and just now dropped to a 10. What a feeling!! I feel so much smaller around my husband now. He is 6"4 and I am 5"7 and married for 20 years. So weird to be hugged by him and he can get his arms all the way around me.
