I've been reading all the wonderful notes of support and encouragement, the research, the good/bad/ugly on this amazing site for a couple of months now. Today, the surgeon called and my date is set for the sleeve . . . August 13th. I am exited and scared to death. I've researched this procedure to death . . . started the process in October of last year, but now that the date is officially on my calendar, I feel like I can't breathe! If you could give me one piece of pre-operative advice, what would it be?

Follow your doctors orders pre-op and post-op. I followed everything to the letter and have had an amazing recovery. Of course, some people do that as well and have complications, luck does factor in. But it sure doesn't hurt to make your best effort as well.

(lol) I finally got my date (same as yours) August 13th. I also live in WA state and having my surgery at Overlake in Bellevue.. At this point I am so beyond ready. I'm hoping I'm as successful as many here on this site. A couple of years ago I had my gallbladder removed and I was so stressed out but it was a piece of cake. And can remember thinking that was the best surgery ever. easy recovery and NO more attacks!!! I am really trying to stay focused on the positive and I'm sure I'll be a bundle of nerves when I walk through the hospital doors.. I have a great support team and I think that is helping me a lot and remember to just keep my eye on the prize (my end results). Wishing you all the luck.. Please keep us posted on your journey!!!

Being nervous is natural! It would be strange if you were not nervous!

One piece of advice: Follow post-op diet and advice to the T. No use messing with such a major surgery! And one more piece of advice: When in doubt, ask questions. Don't hesitate in calling your doctor about medical stuff and for everything else, post here. I find that what I am going through and feeling, someone has already gone through!

Another Washingtonian here. I don't have a date yet, waiting for my final review appt with my surgeon and then we will get scheduled. I'm hoping for the end of August, but I don't honestly know how far out they are scheduling. I'll be going to Swedish First Hill.

I'm self-pay so it's all happening very fast. I've thought about this and researched for years but finally made the decision to do it and I'm happy excited and terrified at the same time.

You've got to be lucky with that date!! My surgery was 8/13/13. Best if luck to you!!
