bigloser2014 got a reaction from BigGirlPanties in 'No!': A Daughter Reacts to Mom's Decision to Have WLS
Beautiful post! Thank you for sharing! My biggest fear going in was telling my daughters. Their acceptance of the whole idea, somehow, seemed essential to my success. I was lucky and got it. Looks like your mom was lucky too!

You have made a great decision! Good luck!
All of us pretty much have the similar weight gain stories and emotions attached to it. You are not alone! You have come to the right place for support. Things will get better. You will run with your son's bike when you teach him to ride one!

bigloser2014 got a reaction from Luvin_Life125 in Have been missing for a few weeks: Update on progress 24 weeks post surgery!
Hello all! I have been extremely busy at work lately and have not been able to post at all.
In the past, late work days and stress would have made me eat non-stop. With my wonderful sleeve, I am glad I did not have that option. I was also able to have better control on my brain and stop myself from eating the BAD foods. Proud of myself and thankful for my sleeve!
DRUM ROLL PLEASE!
Since my pre-surgery consultation in March (that's where I am tracking from), I have lost 82 lbs!
An all new wardrobe with pants size 8 and tops size Small to Medium, I have never felt better! The best decision I ever made!
Emotionally, going from the person that wanted to hide most of the time, to the one that everyone notices has been the hardest. My weight loss is a hot topic and every social gathering that I am at. Kind of embarrassing but I am learning to own it.
Hope everyone is doing well!

bigloser2014 got a reaction from AngPel72 in tips to keep a stall from bumming you out?
I would take batteries out of the scale or ask my daughters to hide the scale for 2-3 weeks. I always saw a loss after that! Seeing a big loss is always encouraging. I also chart my weight loss progress on Myfitnesspal. When in stall, I see what I have lost so far. The downward graph certainly lifts my spirits!
Believe in the program and continue to follow it! Even with multiple stalls and breaks, I am close almost 63 pounds down from my high weight! It does work!
Just keep on following the program.

bigloser2014 reacted to BitterSweet* in Ankle weights
I wear ankle weights to work. I wear MBT shoes and do lots of walking. Between the shoes and the weights, it's a good way to just burn extra calories.
The only thing that can help your skin be in the best shape possible is to do a lot of cardio and weight training. Lots of squats and lunges with heavy weights. Keep your Protein intake up, stay hydrated with Water, take your Vitamins, and keep your skin mouisturized. Builiding lots of lean muscle will help saggy skin look better.
Also, losing weight slower gives your skin a chance to rebound better. As much as we want massive weight loss and we want it to happen quick, that drastic kind of change usually equates to hanging skin.

bigloser2014 got a reaction from Kandis SupaStar Hill in Slowest looser ever
4 pounds a week is great! You are not the slowest loser. I got sleeved on May 9th and so far have not had a single month of more than 12 pounds loss in an entire month. But here I am! Total 68 pounds down from my highest wt. Everyone is different. Don't compare your loss to anyone else. Also, try to remember when was the last time you lost 4 pounds a week consistently? Dont feel discouraged. Just follow the program and you will get there!just a warning that there will be some stalls along the way too but you will get there at the end.

bigloser2014 got a reaction from UKHEIDI in Selecting a personal trainer
I would say somewhere in the middle. With trainer # 1 you felt like it was a torture. Not something one can continue for long. I have had a trainer like that in the past and ended up leaving halfway through the pre-paid sessions.
Trainer 2 seems to be overly cautious but if you enjoy working with her then talk to her and tell her that you want to be pushed a little harder. You may just find a happy medium. Write diwn what weight you use in a session and ask her if you can go higher in thenext session.
In my experience, the hard core trainers like the first one dont like toning things down. Hope this helps.

bigloser2014 got a reaction from MistyAnnMoon829 in Pants are tight again!
I finally gave in and got one pair of black pants for work. From size 20W-22W down to size 12! YAY! 12 is a little tight but it will loosen up quickly. For once, I am happy about the tight pants.

bigloser2014 reacted to MichiganChic in A light bulb went off
Funny, I don't think I was fully prepared either. I'm a registered nurse, and I absolutely knew the facts. I knew what to expect during and after surgery, and in the months/years following surgery. However, knowing facts and living them are two very different things.
One thing for sure, it does get better with time. I think the thing I found to be most shocking was what a chore it was to eat. It almost didn't seem worth the effort. I didn't want what I could have, and it didn't taste good anyway, and it just was not appealing. It was easier to not eat than to go through the effort to prepare the 2-3 bites I could eat. And drinking felt funny, and I could only handle a little bit at a time. And taking the vitamins! It was a full time job getting them right. I remember taking some in the middle of the night to keep from taking them on top of each other.
Now, at 21 months out, I sort of miss those days. Eating and drinking is easy again, and I can eat anything (in reduced quantity) that I want. Now it take a lot of will power to stay the path - another thing I wasn't fully prepared for!
My point is that no matter how much we prepare, I don't think you can ever really get it until you live it, and we each have a unique perspective. Congrats on your recent sleeve, and best wishes!

Congratulations, BL2014!!!
I have old shirts to last me another 3-4 weeks, but all my pants are starting to look like clown pants.
Time to go to Goodwill or Salvation Army for the next round of clothes. I'll drop off a bunch, and then buy some replacements. No point in buying new stuff that won't fit in a couple of months.
Keep up the good work!!!
