Pretty_In_Purple got a reaction from Cassicakes01 in Chicken broth?
If you can tolerate the chicken broth by all means drink it! Your insides are still swollen from surgery. Don't worry too much about the Protein, getting your water/ fluids is more important at this point
In a few days you will be able to drink much more. Don't worry about drinking too much. The liquid doesn't stay in your new tummy long but when you move up in your diet then you want to make sure you don't over eat and stretch your tummy.
    Good luck hon!

When I'm working out and take a gulp it hurts a little but makes me feel "pukey" for lack of a better word. I'll fill my mouth with Water and swallow half, wait a few seconds and swallow the rest. I find that helps me.

Smoking marijuana? I was straight with my doctor as I always am. No secrets between me and my surgeon. I have decided to stop smoking marijuana until after surgery and I am healed. I'm still trying to figure out if smoking weed causes ulcers. Wiki answers says yes but other pages say it helps with ulcers so idk. It will also be important to manage your munchies after smoking. Don't over il indulge and get sick and/or stretch your pouch. I think it best to be as honest as can be with your doctor, after all, He's operating on you and needs to know everything! Good luck! :-)

I have also been told the same and my mother is a nurse. My incisions itched also. Don't scratch the incision itself but around them. Also don't touch! Hands are filthy with bad bacteria! You don't want any infections! Good luck hon!

Hello, I'm in my early 30's and since I've had surgery and dropped 32 pounds I have been breaking out on my face like I were a teen in puberty! Anyone else have this problem? Why do you suppose this is happening now?

My surgeon started me out on 800 calories/day & at 3 months kicked it up to 1000 calories/day. I typically get between 800 - 1000 per day & every once in a while I get about 1100 calories. My biggest problem is with carbs. I have to keep it under 50 grams per day or the weight stalls. Everyone is different & so are the doctors orders. Good luck with your journey.

You're doing so well! Warmest congratulations!
I think you're very committed to this life change and your health and that's why you're being so mindful of what you're eating.
Your sleeve will naturally expand over the next 6 mos to a year (varies by person obviously), but that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. When you eat, just make sure you're stopping before you feel too full. You want to be comfortably full. I'm still a few weeks out from surgery and finding that "full" vs "too full" point is getting easier to discern.
If you're still concerned and your surgeon's office is available for questions, please give them an idea of how much you're able to eat in one sitting and ask them if that sounds normal. Because our tummies may vary quite a bit, it may be hard to say, but I'm sure they have some normal ranges in mind.

First, it seems to me that you are doing really well, you've lost over 6% of your body weight! That's great!!
I haven't discussed this with my current nutritionist, but in the past with other nutritionists on other programs. There is a basic math to weight loss.
Since I'm in the US we use pounds not kilograms, but I'm sure it could be converted.
The average woman uses 11 calories per pound per day to maintain body weight. Every time you consume less than you burn, you use some stored fat. When you get to 3500 of stored fat burned calories you lose a pound of fat.
Remember though that a calorie is NOT a calorie. You need to get the right mix of Proteins, carbs and fats to maintain health first. So most of us are told to get 60-80 grams of Protein per day first.
Now all that adds up to, yes, the less you weigh the harder it is to get that 3500 calories lost.
    Example:
at 300 pounds x 11 calories = 3300 calories per day to maintain body weight
at 200 pounds x 11 calories = 2200 calories per day to maintain body weight
If both women consume 1200 calories per day, the 300 pound woman will lose a pound of fat in about 1.5 days, the 200 pound woman will lose a pound of fat in about 3.5 days.
Fat is only one component of weight loss, additionally, some people retain Water, others lose muscle or bone mass. So the nutrition thing is really important. Then you can burn additional calories with exercise, and build muscle mass that way.
Let me also state that I am NOT a nutritionist, but over my 49 years of dieting (joined weight watchers for the first time when I was 10), I have learned a few things. I just never learned how to apply them to me.
    Good luck!

Remember, although we should be striving to do our best and making the most out of our new little tummies, do not let one bad day or one bad weekend destroy what you have come so far to accomplish! Most of us have struggled with severe obesity all of our lives and it will take the rest of our, now longer, lives to get and maintain our healthy weight. We can do this! One day, one hour, one minute, one second at a time! Have a great weekend and a healthier future. :-)

I went back and read all your posts and there are some harsh realities that you need to face that are frowned upon in a support forum. We are supposed to try to support you and help you with any issues and guide you to achieve success.
But, you say you're an adult, so you need to face reality. By your own admission many times over, you already know what you're doing wrong. You aren't following anything closely. You did achieve some loss and then sorta gave up and accepted failure. I think you are just very young and immature and just wanted a quick easy fix. You wanted it done for you.....something where you didn't have to do anything. You keep saying the surgery failed. The surgery did exactly what it was supposed to do. You failed the process.
To use the tool parody, I can remember when I was a kid, my Dad would chew me out for ruining his tools while my use of them really didn't fix anything. I now have great respect for my own tools, most over 30 years old in perfect condition and can expertly fix just about anything. Analogy being...- I don't mistreat them and use them correctly for their intended function.
The surgery was never about doing for you....it is about helping you accomplish what you need to do. Restriction is the sleeve's only function. The rest is totally up to you. You must choose the proper foods and nutrients to consume and still remain within that restriction. It takes desire and discipline. Your posts sound like you have neither.
Everyone on here wants to help all those that run into fearful unknowns with WLS. They need someone to help them thru the rough spots, but that help can only be in the form of comments about what to expect and suggestions of what they might try. No one can do it for you.
The statistics quietly suggest that there is less than a 5% chance of long term success with weight loss surgery among most patients. Everyone can't be successful and still result in those type of numbers. I don't care about numbers. I'm only concerned about my effort and success. And unless you accept responsibility and make a devoted effort on your own, then you are destined to be among those that are unsuccessful. Good luck.
