Getting ready mentally
Finding protein shakes you like. Ones that are low in fat, carbs, and sugar. Stay away from Ensure and Boost. They have to many carbs and sugar. Don't overstock but just try a few different ones and see which ones you like. Don't stock up because after surgery your taste may change. Definitely make time for yourself to exercise 30min a day. Just what your body can handle. Doing SOMETHING is better than sitting in front of the TV or PC all day. Good luck on your journey God bless

Emotions
Oh my goodness! So many emotions. I am on a rollercoaster of different emotions! One minute I'm so excited and determined and the next I'm questioning myself and scared to death! I'm wondering if I've done enough research and if I know for the most part what I'm getting myself into. Does this sound familiar to anyone or am I alone on this ride?

No Pre-Op Diet?
You are very lucky! I begin my 2 week all liquid diet this Monday! Yup, that's 14 long days of no chewing! Of NO FOOD!! LOL! I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but I am going to do it!

So sick snd supposed to start pre op diet
I totally agree! Your body is going to be going through some VERY MAJOR surgery/ changes and you need to be in tip top shape. The only thing that you should have to focus on is getting better from surgery and not a cold on top of it. Also, you're going to be going under some pretty heavy anesthesia which already effects your upper respiratory so again you don't need the added sickness. Get better soon! And stay positive! It will happen when the time is right!

Acid Reflex and the Sleeve
Also, I have heard that rapid weight loss can cause gall stones which are very painful, from what I've been told, so maybe count it as a blessing?

Acid Reflex and the Sleeve
From my upper GI my doctor said there was no sign of hiatal hernia. My upper GI didn't consist of any tubes going down my throat though. I just had to drink some stuff standing up and lying down and they took x rays. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

THEY WANT TO DO WHAT....HELP ME
I had an upper GI but mine was just me standing up and drinking some stuff and they took some x rays and then I laid on my stomach and drank some more stuff and they took some more x rays and that was it. Nothing went down my throat or up my booty.

Acid Reflex and the Sleeve
Okay, So you're still able to take your medication for it? That's good to hear. Thank you for your comment! I really, REALLY appreciate it! I just want to make sure I am making the right decision for myself as I'm sure everyone wants to do.

Acid Reflex and the Sleeve
So, I'm finally scheduled for the sleeve on April 7th! YAY! However, I'm continuing to research and I'm reading if you have acid reflex before having the sleeve it may not be a good idea to get the sleeve but rather the gastric bypass (RNY)! BOO! I'm so upset I'm sitting at the computer bawling my eyes out! Did anyone have acid reflex before the sleeve? did it get better or did it get worse? My acid reflex has been under control with Prilosec for a few years now but before Prilosec I would have terrible heartburn! I was given an upper GI where I had to drink this stuff and they would take x-rays of my esophagus. The test results had come back that I did show signs of having past heart burn problems. UGH! Wouldn't you think if it were bad enough results my doctor would tell me it wasn't a good idea for the Sleeve? Please, Can someone bring me some relief until I can get a hold of my doctor next week? Thank you, Jess xoxo

Liquid diet
So I've been to all of the prerequisites and my insurance has approved the procedure and I'm really excited! The only thing is my doctor requires a 2 week all liquid diet before surgery. If my surgeon goes in me and sees that my liver is not shrunk enough she will not do the procedure. I'm so worried! I think being on nothing but liquids for 2 weeks is going to be impossible! How did everyone deal with it? I'm not married and don't have any kids so that's helpful but I do live with my 68 year old mother. I want this surgery very badly but I just don't know if I can go 2 weeks on all liquids! HELP PLEASE!
