  1. I just recently discovered this show and I LOVE it!!! I watched Penny's episode, last night, and I was so p!ssed and upset with her and her husband! She used every excuse known to man and I found myself getting more and more irritated with her. It's hard to feel sorry for people who do not take advantage of something so great. I couldn't get over the stuff she was eating just 3 months after her surgery. Shocking!!! It's definitely an episode to watch to see what NOT to do after WLS!
  2. Well Josh best of luck.. you are the day before me.....Jewelj That's awesome! We will be going through it at the same exact time. Are you excited/nervous?
  3. Hey sleevers! I have a few questions..... 1) Did anyone have sleep Apnea and use a CPAP prior to surgery and then not have to use it anymore after you lost weight? That is one of my major hopes in getting this surgery and I think about 85% of people end up "losing" their sleep apnea. If so, how much weight did you lose before you d ditch the CPAP and roughly how long after surgery was it? 2) Do you guys have any book recommendations in regards to the sleeve? I just finished reading "The Sleeved Life" by Pennie Nicola and it was pretty good, but short. I see a few to download, but wanted to know if there were any must reads pre and/or post-op? I went to costco today and finally got my Premier Protein shakes for after surgery. I tried one today and I must say they are good!!!! Thanks guys! Josh

    Sleep Apnea & Books

Third vote for Dummies, great book with details and covers all types of surgery. I also got the Big Book of Gastric Sleeve Can you get a ton of information from forums for free? Absolutely! But I really like having these books on my Kindle for reference and non-anecdotal info. Totally agree with you in terms of wanting to have something for reference in a physical form! That's why I am trying to read as many books as I can. Does the "Dummies" book discuss a lot about post-surgery (recovery, eating, risks, etc...)? I have everything I need leading up to that point and it seems like most of these books focus on pre-surgery decisions and options and that's fine; I'm just past all that.
  6. So, my surgery is 2/3 and I feel like I have new questions every single day and I hope you guys don't mind Protein shake - I have the starter kit coming from unjury......did you guys just do trial and error before surgery in terms of Protein shakes or did you wait until after you had the surgery? I'm assuming I should probably have one in place for recovery. I just don't really know where to start in terms of finding one that I may like. I'm not sure if Unjury will be the one for me since I would prefer to have a ready to drink shake. Any thoughts, ideas or tips? should I just go by several different kinds from the store and sample them prior to surgery? I know almost everyone gets the "buyers remorse" and I'm wondering if that's something that kicks in just a few days after surgery or if it comes later down the line? How long do those feelings usually linger around for or how long did they linger for you? Lastly (for now lol), how long after the surgery did it take for you to feel "normal" again? Thank you so much you guys as you have given me some really good feedback in terms of all the questions that I've asked and it is greatly appreciated

  13. Hey all! I have my surgery date which is February 3rd. I know everyone gets nervous, scared and anxious, but my fears are having me questioning if I'll actually be able to go through with it. Here are my biggest fears along with questions.... Clots!!! I'm freaking out about this!! I know - walking, walking, walking! BUT, how long after the surgery are we at risk for a clot? What is the likelihood or percentage of people who actually get one? Drinking!! I'm so nervous about being super thirsty and not being able to drink much and therefore not quenching it. Throwing up!!! I'm sure I will throw up at some point and I can't even fathom what that must feel like after going through what our stomachs go through during surgery. I'm really scared about regretting it because of any or all of the above. We all know it's not reversible. I know everyone has a point where they think or say "what the hell did I do??", but I'm talking about long term regret. Thanks for reading! Josh

    Fears! (Questions)

@LindafromFlorida Yea, that's one of my top 3 reasons for doing the surgery is to (hopefully) not have to use the CPAP for much longer!! I read something that said that nearly 85% of people with sleep Apnea no longer have it after a significant amount of weight loss. I have been using mine now for about 8 years. I am used to it, but who wants to sleep with something strapped to their face with a huge tube going abound them for the rest of their lives?!?! I am pretty confident that after I lose a significant amount of weight and another sleep study that I will be able to ditch the machine! Thanks for your posts!
