  1. Lots of these are familiar to me too. I will say now that i'm two and a half years out from surgery (down 125, 20 yet to go!) I found the hot/cold thing pretty much stopped. I'd already been through menopause though when I had my sleeve done. My 'skinny' rant is this; people I'm close to who would be loving and supportive about anything else in my life, when it comes to something that's hard for me at this lower weight they can't resist a snide comment or a sarcastic 'poor you' crack. Sheesh! I hate it. Case in point; My husband asked how this day went last week knowing it was a long one and important to me. I told him the worst part was getting up and putting on what i planned to wear only to find the skirt part of the suit almost fell off. I had worn it a couple months back, but now it's way big. I switched and put something else on (slacks and kimono jacket) and it looked like a silk potato sack. It was 5am and I had to be out the door soon and in front of people all day - I was panicked and frustrated. His comment was along the lines of 'Yeah, poor you for losing so much weight.' in this sarcastic tone. He asked!! I won't be answering that again any time soon. But to his credit he circled around when hours later and apologized, though it was clear he didn't get it, just knew i was pissed. My sister did a similar thing when i said i was sad to take a favorite piece to the consignment shop--why ask people?! And yes, both she and hubby are somewhat overweight and doing nothing about it (other than complaining). Okay, end of rant. Kate
  2. Oh my gosh @Jean McMillan You said it all so well! I feel much the same way at one year out, and hope I'll be right where you are when I'm 8 years out! I can't count the number of things I now enjoy doing, and reminding myself are new gifts I've given myself in doing this. Congratulations, and thanks for such a heartening message! Kate
  3. How low? Mine came back last week at 3.5 (4-7 i think being 'normal) and was flagged as High by the lab. The doc said that wasn't clinically significant or even worrisome since it wasn't off the charts and most other things were okay. (I do have genetically high cholesterol, but that doesn't have anything to do with wbci'm told.) The doc did at first ask about nutrients, of which i get plenty and do well, and so in the end she said not to worry unless I felt ill, had fever or any other symptoms to check out. They'll test again in 6 months--I'm currently one year from surgery, just FYI.
  4. Got to say - that post-Easter candy is calling my name constantly! Thanks for this post, it's most timely. My biggest frustration is that even if I work a couple small pieces into my plan, those two small pieces call for more the second they're down the hatch. I just keep wanting more, and I hate that. Not starting is my best bet, and not buying it has gotten easier this week. Thanks for putting into words what I'm going through, and likely lots of others.
  5. Wonderful! I applaud your taking 'the high road' in your letter and not insinuating that WLS is superior or bashing BL results (although you justifiably could have done so). I searched the web the other day for any sort of follow-up comment by him or the show's producers, or any sort of apology, and found no response whatsoever--so I'm willing to bet it is unlikely there will be one now either unless it feed the ratings. Just the same, thank you for doing this!! Kate

  7. Now that we live in a condo, my hubby has no more excuses to buy bags of his favorite candy - which sadly is my favorite too! So I feel happily liberated from this particular temptation finally. Yay! As for that candy aisle in the grocery store - oh save me! I can't/don't even go down it!! No matter how badly I might think I need ziplock bags (same aisle) I"m just not going there. Sigh. Hang in there everyone.
