  1. Would you mind adding me too if I send you a friend request? My name is Melissa
  2. I was approved for surgery last Thursday & am scheduled for July 11th (I start my liquid diet on 7/5). I would definitely be interested in joining the Facebook group once it's secret too I'm not sharing what I'm doing with more than a handful of people & I don't want anyone to be able to see I'm a member.

    sleeved in july:)

Congrats! I'm also getting sleeved on 7/11
  4. OMG I so needed to read this! Thank you for sharing
  5. If I can wrap up the rest of my consultations soon, I'm hoping for early June
  6. I only plan on telling a few people. My husband, mom & the friend who encouraged me to do this are the only ones that know so far. I'm hoping to have the surgery in June & plan to tell the rest of my immediate family, my in-laws, my boss & my BFF then. That's it. Everyone else is being told that I re-joined Weight Watchers & finally started taking the gym seriously. My brother's getting engaged soon, so I'll just tell them his wedding is motivating me lol
  7. Oh wow - I could have written this :-( These things & realizing that I no long run around & play with my kids, but rather sit on the floor and watch them run around me are some of the driving factors that got me to this point. I'm here with them, but feel like we're all missing out on the fun that we could be having if I had the energy & could move around more :-( Thank you all so, so much! What you've shared has been VERY helpful. I'm going to continue researching & going to all of my appointments over the next six months and hopefully the confidence in my decision will come & those fears will quiet down!
  8. Hi everyone! I'm a new poster, but I've been lurking for a few weeks. I hope that I'm on the right board - there are so many! I'm wondering how long it took you from first thinking about maybe, possibly having surgery to saying "yes this is for me" and commiting to it? My friend was sleeved 8/9 months ago & looks and feels great. I'd never considered surgery until we started talking and then I started toying with the idea of the band. I attended a seminar in Nov., decided the sleeve was a better option for me and had my 1st appt. to consult with a surgeon early last week. I've done some research, I'm reading the "Big Book" & I read this site quite a bit, but I'm still not sure...I want to do it, I'm ready to change & I know that it's a tool that I'd have to work with for the rest of my life, but I'm scared about the unknowns post-surgery & the rare, but possible complications and leaving my two kids behind. Those fears are holding me back & making me wonder if maybe I'm rushing into things? But then I think, well even with time those fears probably won't go away, so is waiting another year or two just for the sake of "thinking about it" worth it? I know the journey is different for all of us, but I'm curious if you "just knew" and went for it rather quickly or if you thought about & researched it for years before moving forward with the surgery? Did you ever feel like you'd done enough research beforehand? Sorry this is so long!
  9. Some of these posts just break my heart I've had lots of really negative moments & comments over the years, but what finally brought me here was when my 4 year old asked me if I had another baby in my belly (a year after his little brother had been born) and the few times that he asked me why my belly is so big & jiggly when his isn't. I want to set a good, healthy example for my kids & don't want them to grow up thinking that they have to eat like & look like I do right now. I've slowed down & my asthma is at it's worst...I don't want to miss out on any fun things with my boys anymore because I can't control myself. Also, a friend of mine was sleeved back in March & she looks fabulous! She's been so honest & helpful & has really encouraged me to go ahead with this. Without her, I'm not sure I'd be ready to consider this yet...

    Why no caffeine?

Thank you for posting this question - I just had my 1st appointment today & was wondering the same thing. For those of you that were big drinkers pre-surgery, did you experience caffeine withdrawal and, if so, for how long? On the days that I don't drink my usual amount of coffee I experience severe headaches, nausea & sometimes I get sick. I'm a little worried about quitting altogether! I guess I should slowly start weaning myself off of it now...
