Hi if you use cream Soups they must be 98% fat free and then blended in the blender and strained before consuming.
I have used powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup powder when I was on that part of the program and it has 20g of Protein in it and you must follow directions on how to make it or it comes out weird.
For Protein shakes I use Rob Roy Protein Powder that has 25g of Protein in each scoop and with a cup of skim milk it makes it 33g of protein in each shake. I use the chocolate or vanilla and add extract flavors to give different flavors to it if I want a change.
If you drink Crystal Light in your Water you can always add a spoonful of unflavored protein to that and that helps get your protein in for the day too.

Was totally freaked out and my stomach was so distended it wasn't funny.. I cried for days.. That's why I told you don't worry about it that it will go away!!! But from everyone I have ever talked to they have all gained in the hospital and its very very normal!

My favorite Protein drink for almost a year straight now has been premiere Protein in chocolate flavor that can be found at SAMs club and costco. Tastes just like chocolate milk. Also great to warm it up and it tastes like hot cocoa!
I also made any Soups I could in the beginning with milk to add additional protein. I also added unflavored protein into anything I could.

@ meintraining.... It very normal to have those fears! I had those fears! I think lots of people do! I totally freaked with those 24lbs of Fluid and I always thought I was a slow looser!! Now 11 months later going from 234-113 I can attest that even slow and steady will win the race.. I believe that if you follow your dr.s plan you WILL succeed with gastric bypass!!!

I use Premier Protein. It's ready to drink and it has 30 grams protein. SAMs Club and costco carry it. I'm not sure of other places.
I seen that some people eat Campbell's Soup On The Go. I thought about trying it but the sugar seemed high to me. Maybe it's just my paranoia of dumping. Lol. I see my nutritionist tomorrow and I'll ask her.
I think the Protein Powder is good to use in hot liquid up to a certain temp. I'm not sure but it may be 140 degrees. I read it on here somewhere but I forgot the exact temp.
Good luck with your recovery. : )

It will start coming off. I can understand the aggravation. The pounds will start rolling off before you know it. : )
My surgery was 2 weeks ago. I came home 8 pounds heavier than the day of surgery. It took a few days for it to start coming off.
I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I didn't weigh until my two weeks post appt's w/ the dietician & nurse prac. They give you alotta fluids in the hosp so dont sweat it. I'm three weeks out I have lost 20lbs but everyone is different so keep that in mind. Personally I'm only going to be weighing once a month, I've never been one to pay alot of attention to the scale and plus for me frequent weighing is to much of a head trip. Not gonna put myself thru it. I would pay more attention to my nutrition than the scale. Hope this helps

Count down to Tuesday, positive attitude!!! Had nails done, clear polish as instructed, pedicure and hair cut. Will color tomorrow with warm honey blond to get rid of that grey. I'm preparing for this surgery like I'm going on a date?!!! In a way, it is because this will effect the rest of my life. My son gave me a gift card to Kohl's for $100.00 to be used for skinny clothes, what a guy. I usually visit him in MI in May but this year I'm delaying the trip till the fall so I can model those clothes. He is really my main incentive, all for the love of a child, which he still is at 44!

OK girls, my surgery is Tuesday and I have a lot of the same thoughts spinning through my head but I'm 64, 65 in April! I'm not married but I know I will have chicken wing arms and wobbly thighs and will definitely going for a Tummy Tuck as soon as they let me. I plan on announcing to friends and family on FB when I get home from the hospital. To calm my worries I bought new pretty night gowns, no elastic waists, for home, new robe and slippers for the hospital. I have started to give some of my fat clothes away and all those loose baggy sweats with paint stains are gone.
I went to my Zumba class today for the last time for a while and watched myself in those mirrors and all doubt and fear was gone. Just the thought of seeing 1/2 of me some day is enough to give me courage and confidence that this is the right thing for me. I know people who have cancelled the day before their surgery, after working 6-9 months to get there. But we all have our personal feelings, fear and hopes. So guys, let's go for it and report back when we get home and feel up to sharing. Best wishes, hugs and happy thoughts to you all!!!!

Me tooooo!! I'm so "not ready" in a way...
I'm worried about all of the following:
    A. My apron tummy
    B. My boobs
    C. The skin on my upper thighs
    D. My love of alcohol
    E. My love of delicious, rich food
    F. What if it doesn't work?
Will my new body be pretty? Will I be pissed that I can't drink? Will I be pissed that I can't eat? What if I try and screw everything up?
Is it worth having the body that I want or should I just let it go?
But then again, I really hate that I get winded on stairs and can't tie my own shoes or see parts of my body without hurting myself.
It sucks that it has to be this drastic.
The other part of me is super excited...

Hi ggdrop, I totally understand! I have my surgery on Monday too and am also a mommy (my baby is 11 months old). This whole week I have been flip flopping between excitement/readiness for surgery and total freak out/'what if' mode. Most of my what ifs have been about 'leaving' my son or having some horrid complication that makes my life impossible. I understand you too about the fear of loose skin.... I really don't want to get to my 'goal weight' to STILL dislike what I see in the mirror bc of the skin, but hey, at least I won't be overweigh then!
I think we have made a good decision to better our health.. a good decision for ourselves AND our families that will help us be more active, set better examples, etc. There will be always be a fear of 'going under' and giving up control to a medical team, but I have confidence in my surgeon and in this procedure.
Sending good vibes your way.... I am sure we will both be great!

Hello. I am now home from the hospital. Surgery was Tues morning. I had a rough time with pain meds as I'm allergic to codeine but I walked and did what I needed to do. I am currently home without pain meds as the pharmacy couldn't fill the prescription. They wrote it wrong and docs aren't calling them back. Just my luck of course. Aside from that I'm doing well. Now just trying to learn to deal with at home diet meds etc. I hope the others that had surgery this week check in soon.

    Hello,
I had my surgery today at 7:20 am. I had a calm peace about it. I was nervous once I was in the hospital getting prepped but expectedly so. All went well. I'm not in pain. Just sore. I've walked about 15 laps total today around the floor. They were 15 small laps but I'm feeling good about it. Just wanted to check in and let you know I made it. I hope our other surgery buddies did well today too.

Well I'm sitting in my hotel room, tomorrow is surgery day and I'm kind of relaxed but with mini panic attacks every so often.
I had all my pre-op tests done today and went for a very interesting pre-op class regarding the surgery and the diet, expectations and pain control and pretty much everything I (we) needed to know.
I am second on the list...got to be there at 6am and will probably go down around 8am.
Is it real?....I guess it really is.
Night all...I'll check in as soon as.
    Xxx
