    Post Op March 2014

The last post I made I stated that my appetite was poor, well, it went from poor to none. I was away interviewing for jobs out of state. I was 7 weeks post op. And then the projectile vomiting, nausea and stomach pain started. I was in the ER for 4 days but they only make you comfortable but wont do more. I had to fly home and head straight to my hospital and my surgeon found that my opening from my pounch to my intestine was completely closed. No wonder nothing went down. I had to have a GI doc open me up with doing an EGD with the tiny camera. Now the camera I was told also had trouble fitting in. Im still in the hospital and have to do it again out patient procedure in 2 weeks. Glad but also sad. Not a great experience. Had regrets.

I'm down 40 lbs since march 24th but my appetite is poor. I'm not eating any protein and can't stand meat at all. Going to try tofu. I want to eat but can't. Smh I thrive on smoothies but only a couple of sips. Dr. Is aware and just said thats how some people eat. Not liking that answer

    Post Op March 2014

I have been constantly nauseated for 2 weeks with vomiting and dry heaving since I can't eat along with the dreaded constipation. I finally came to the ER where they found low potassium levels and dehydration. Well, they admitted me and I'm glad I came. Grtting hydrated and helping me move my bowels. Not sure why I still get nauseous. My nut said some people take longer to adjust after surgery. Im on week 5. Still on puree foods.

I have not had much of an appetite as well and always thirsty but hurts to drink. I have nausea always and it gets worse when I try to eat or drink. Finally I got a call from my gastroenterologist and they said I have h-pylori which is a bacteria that causes ulcers. I'm starting a heavy antibiotics regime. I hope this helps soni can finally get in my proper nutrients. I'm lucky to get in 200 calories a day or 10g of protein. Smh

If you have muscle cramping, fatigued, dark orange urine, light headed or dizziness, constipation, cotton on mouth. Are signs or symptoms of dehydration. Be careful.

Mcgill75, Do you mean post op? If so what are you feeling, nausea, a stuck lump in your chest? I did the same and had to vomit back up. It may take more time to pass I'd you can't bring up with your finger friends. Its a hard lesson I had to face that I wasn't ready. Scared to try again. Hope you feel better soon.

I must admit I'm a little relieved that the symptoms are not just happening to me. I sure hope I can eat at least 500 calories. How will I continue to lose fat and not muscle with those few of calorie intake. I guess time will tell. Im almost at week two (11 days post op). I will focus on fluids and sip sip sip like many others say. Don't want to go to the ER for dehydration.

    Post Op March 2014

Day 11 march 24th. Worried still about not enough fluids ( full liquids). It actually hurts to drink it is painful with nausea. Is this normal? I keep telling myself it will resolve. I am averaging 350 calories a day and I believe that is simply too low. I see my Dr. Tmrw. Hope he has some insight. I'm a nurse and I may hook myself back up to an IV. Lol

    Post Op March 2014

On day 8 post op. Finally feeling better drinking. excited to start the full liquid diet. I'm still not getting in the total amount of fluids required but this will take time. Protein water is disgusting. My pain is minimal. my concern is not losing the weight due to lack of protein intake. 60oz is a lot in the beginning while your still healing.
  13. yes cfergie911, I believe you are right. thanks. I'm just nervous about qualifying through my insurance.
  14. my surgeon has scheduled my surgery date (Feb 5 2014) before submitting my information to my insurance company. Does this sound weird to anyone? My last M.D. check up is January 21st, then all my info from the past 3 months will be submitted. nervous about approval. Is it important to loose weight before surgery.
