I was excited to see this category but a little disappointed thre isn't a lot being posted.. My husband will get his band on 1/6/14, 3 days from now.
I think I feel more overwhelmed than he does. Being the wife I have the feeling of the caretaker, and even though he should be totally responsible for how well he progresses, I fear that its going to be a battle.
I kind of feel that through the whole process leading up to the surgery that the spouse should be included and maybe even required to attend the meetings with nutritionist, trainer, doctor etc..
Some of you think probably that this is their surgery and weight loss, but if you're married to someone that is going to be making this drastic lifestyle transformation, you know we will be or should be totally involved.
I wonder if their are others that feel like this or do you think I am being negative? Sometimes I do have that tendency. I might also mention if any of you are curious, We have been married for 34 years, my weight is 160, about 20 lbs over my ideal weight.

Well, supportive hubby, stay on this site and roam around. You will soon be as knowledgable as she. Before his surgery I had only gone to the seminar, everything else I learned mostly here.
It's very informative listening to people that are living through it.
It is a big help. I hope your wife is looking and learning here as well.
Best of luck to you both!

Thanks to all who posted in response. I should have said also that I was going to go to the nutritionist pre op but had to be out of town because our daughter was having her 3rd baby . Because he is the pickiest of eaters this will be a big challenge. He has been a meat and potatoes guy!
Today I decided I want him to put Alex's book on his Kindle. He needs that kind of thing for inspiration at his fingertips, I think it could be a big help.
I don't want to be a nag about this and that but I have forewarned him that I will be pushing a little. I just hope he understands that this is a big change for me also.
Wish us BOTH luck I'll keep you posted!

Hubby had the first post op today with the first weigh in since surgery. Drum rollll! 20 lbs lost since 1/6/14.
They told him no Snacks or Protein Drinks. Should get all he needs in the 3 meals and tummy needs to adjust now to the solid foods going in.
He's not complaining of hunger. Knock on wood!
