    Raving about Graham Elliot

    http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-body/news/graham-elliot-masterchef-judge-runs-first-10k-after-150-pound-weight-2014285
  2. I agree! I am loving salad, steamed zucchini, and chicken breast with Montreal seasoning on it! Hubby and I have been using the George foreman almost every night.
  3. The first surgeon I went to was very basic nutrition info and a lot of foods suggested were high in carbs which I never realized until I went to the surgeon I'm at now. I was told by previous doc to drink 2-3 Protein shakes a day and lean cuisines/weight watchers meals for preop. The frozen dinners were high carb as well! This doc I'm with now is going to have me do 3 weeks preop diet and 40 carbs or below a day. No shakes if I don't want them, just carb free food, chicken, veggies, egg beaters etc... I only ever would have had one or two followups. PSSC in edmonds, wa has a 2 year followup program with nutritionists, fitness trainers, psychologists, and the doc. They really want you to succeed. They have many years of experience and from what I have researched are one of the only places that have followup care like that.

Need a new Insurance company HELP!

Premera or Aetna...but it costs quite a bit ???? About ten years ago my hubby and I paid for medical and it was over 300.00 a month for very basic coverage. I would hate to see how much it is now. Good luck and let us know what you find

Need a new Insurance company HELP!

If you go to http://www.m.webmd.com/health-insurance/insurance-marketplace/default.htm you can check what is covered in each state. Oregon and Washington don't cover bariatric surgery with Obamacare. I will post more when I find the list of all the states that do

You can do short term disability for sleeve recovery?
  8. After I tried to have surgery previously and my liver/fat was still too big, I went to another surgeon who told me I need to do bypass because I like to eat a poptart once in a blue moon. I told him I wasn't comfortable having a blind stomach and that I didn't understand why they couldn't do bypass and remove the useless stomach part and that to me, rearranging my organs like that really weirds me out. He told me "maybe you shouldn't have any wls then." I never went back to him. I felt like he wasn't listening to my concerns. The first place I went to, I actually gained weight before surgery since it was so much Protein and carbs from the lean cuisines/weight watchers frozen meals. I'm sure it works for most people, but the new doc I'm going to says that my body is carb sensitive so to speak. So it took me about 2 years to come back to the point of having surgery again. I am going to be doing the preop diet for 3 weeks instead of just one. I feel more comfortable with this doc. I told him my story and how I was even scared to try again. He asked me if I had ever seen Shawshank Redemption, which I replied no, and he told me I should watch it and the ending moral is about not giving up hope.

Welcome! You need to do what is best for you. I've often watched shows like the biggest loser and extreme weight loss and get so down on myself. I don't find them motivating at all. Not sure if anyone else feels that way. I'm sure real life is harder than being on a reality show. In real life most of us don't have nutritionists to plan our food, chefs to prepare it, and trainers to tell us what to do, when to do it, and for how long. Another part we don't see is how long it took and where people really struggled. Magically each week we are shown these people with massive weight loss and honestly, we really don't know the time frame it took. I wish the best of luck to you! Done be ashamed or embarrassed of who you are and the journey you have been on. From what I've seen, many people gain weight back after those extreme shows because they aren't realistic. I also have anemia, it's a pain! I wish I could just store Iron like most people.

I think he's an amazing chef, but now that he is standing up against those that say surgery is the easy way out, I love the guy even more! Lol!

    9/22 buddy

Hoping to find a surgery buddy on or around 9/22. I'm in washington state
  15. Anyone have any good food suggestions? My surgeon doesn't do the protein shake diet, just very low carb like 40 grams or less per day. Last time I went in for surgery the lean cuisine I was eating for dinner had over 40 carbs in them. I am looking for protein rich foods with chicken breast or ground turkey breast. I love zucchini and squash, carrots, celery, and almost all fruits (which I know will be pretty much a no no unless it's small portions). Basically as long as what I eat comes out 40 grams or less a day I should be golden.

Addicted to the Thrill of Shopping

I can't wait to get rid of my fat clothes. There are a few things I found that were cute for fat girl clothes...but most remind me of grandma clothes. Old Navy used to have better clothing and items you could actually try on in store, but now it's online only for plus size gals. I may never get down to the size of my sister...who runs half marathons and works out a lot...but the thought of being able to go clothes shopping with her again totally makes me happy! And buying bras in a store would be nice lol

I wondered about that...it looks like he takes very tiny bites though and swallows it. I've heard chewing and spitting is horrible for you! He looks amazing...and for him to write back! OMG it's so cool!

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

I am taking pre-reqs for nursing and am scheduled for 9/22/14. I'm excited. I was in a car accident a few years ago and a nurse told me I was wasting my time getting the sleeve and that i should just eat better and exercise. I was very put off by her comments, it's 2 years later and I'm still heavy and want this as a tool to help me. I don't want to go through nursing school (if/when I'm accepted) as the fat girl

  20. I am so sorry for your loss! I'm wondering what the bariatric surgeon dis that made it so difficult for her to get help? Why didn't they try to convert her to rny or remove her stomach altogether if he couldn't fix it? So many questions... I will keep your family in my prayers
