  1. Hi there....haven't been on in a while but wanted to let you know that I did get a fill on August 9. I had 3.5cc's and he added 3.5 more. I go back on August 30 for another one. I don't feel full, not enough protein I guess. Not losing as fast as I was prior to the fill. 22 lost preop 22 lost post op! How did your fill go? I'm looking forward to my second one...maybe it will be the one that tightens me up so I don't feel hungry! Take care!

What is your favorite non carbonated beverage?

Had surgery July 1st and my last Diet Pepsi was June 30! I have not had a carbonated drink until yesterday, and I drank Diet Orange Sunkist and my tummy didn't care for it very much. Before I had the Sunkist I took a drink of Diet Pepsi and I really didn't care for it. As for other things I have had water, vita rain, and the crystal light packages as well.

    I had my surgery July 22, 2010

Today I found a tasty way to drink the protein shakes. I was looking through other LapBand websites and found some recipes from liquid to solid, well at the store I bought some sugar free instant pudding. I used my skim milk, ice, I only used half my protein mix (not sure why, maybe next time I will use a whole one) and then a spoon full of the instant pudding powder. I used Butterscotch, blended it all up and oh my it was yummy!!! I am staying under 800 calories a day, banded 7/1/2010 and have only lost 13lbs since surgery day. Any ideas???
  4. Well I said "hernia" as well.....to those that I didn't want to know the truth. Then a week out of surgery Karma kicked me in the side with an inguinal hernia....having surgery July 20 for that so within 3 weeks time I will have had 2 surgeries!!!!

    changed mind

Absolutely! I sent a friends requests, not sure how that works but we will see.
  6. I have short term disability, however it got real scary this past week I have been on FMLA (didn't know for sure until yesterday) since June 30, surgery July 1 that is not the way it started though. I was going back to work July6, and did, and went back July 7 and then was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia. Unfortunately, HR had to take quite a few steps in determining if i was going to qualify, 1. I have worked at the same place for 3 years 2. I just transferred departments one month ago July 7 was my one month 3. Did not make it through 90 days probation. After all of this it was determined that YES I qualify for FMLA I have been there for enough time and YES I qualify for short term because I have been there for enough time and however being elective it wasn't like getting my boobs done or something that was not done because of a health risk. Short answer turned very long but yes, I have been told by HR that I will be covered.

    changed mind

I had a lot of things that changed my mind for me, unfortunately I started my journey over 3 years ago and now as of July 1, 2010 I am banded! Long journey to start a NEW journey but still not any regrets! Still on liquids....hate liquids....but I have started naming them...instead of chocolate protein shake it's a yummy chocolate/hot fudge shake with ice cream. Anyways....good luck with your journey sometimes it just takes a little more time to get to the place you need to be!

Fellow lap-banders!! I need your HONEST opinion.

Ok well I think everything everyone else does....you look amazing and you are one of the reasons other people look at the lap band...because you have done fabulous at it obviously. Here is my concern, "Weight Loss Center" is this for the lapband procedure or another type of weight loss program? I'm sorry if I missed where that was said but that is my concern. If it's to promote what an awesome job you have done heck yeah go for it, but.....like was said is this the point in your journey you want to advertise?

    I was banded! woot!

Hi there! I was banded Thursday, came home after and slept most of the day. Friday slept on and off but then did too much and have paid all weekend. Are you finding things to eat? I did only Water until last night and then did a popsicle. Today I have had a popsicle and have been working on yogurt on and off all day. I wish you well...if you find anything that's wonderful right now let me know!! Pam

I feel so guilty I cheated on post-op diet

Alright....being banded tomorrow 07/01/2010....getting nervous I don't want to cheat, I am more afraid of what I can eat and feel like I won't eat or take my medication due to all the stuff I have been hearing. I am ready for surgery....I am ready for pain, and I will and I mean I WILL be sure to have pain meds because I know I just want to rest and heal tomorrow! Then after tomorrow I am afraid, I've heard you can't take capsule meds, or big pills, everything needs to be crushed and opened. It just is making me very nervous about missing a couple days of like my anti-depressant, it's time released so it can't be opened and taken. Ok so this is me being scared I guess....it's been a long time coming!! I can't believe it's already here, 12 hours and counting!!

How did you tell your co-workers?

WOW....and how do you tell your family and friends?! I am struggling with all those questions right now. There are so many people in my life who will judge me and my decision. My date for surgery is July 1st. I called my mom immediately and told her.....her and my sister were the only family members who knew. She told my dad who I do not have a good relationship with and he is confused about it all. (they are divorced) I truly wish she hadn't told him. One of the before/after pictures that runs across the top of the screen is a friend of my ex-husbands and unfortunately, my ex and children (grown sons 22 & 26) were not totally thrilled with his decision worried about his health and still do. I know my decision is not what they would want but I do want it and I have been working on this far too long to listen to BS from those who have negative ideas regarding it. I have asked that those I have told....to NOT tell anyone until I am ready. I want someone to ask me...or to see results. I don't want to worry about the small stuff!!

    Any June Bandsters???

After going back and forth because of jobs and insurance I have finally done my diet, done the tests, had my first appt with surgeon and now we are waiting to hear from my insurance company for approval!!! I am tentatively scheduled for June 29, only tentatively because of the wait. If insurance approves...it's a go!! I can't wait...it's been in the works since Aug 2008!!<~~~put the wrong year in...ooops!! Good lord...I guess I am just totally confused, I even joined here in August of 2007 so 2007 must be when I started! WOW talk about a ding a ling!!
  15. Hi there! It's good to know support is out there. I have had so many questions and have been getting them answered but now that my husband knows this is all serious, he is wanting more answers! I have been to seminars and I have talked to doctors, I am so excited and can't wait for these 6 months to sail by!! Any advice or comments or just whatever anyone wants to say about it all is sooooo greatly appreciated. Look forward to hanging out here a lot in the next few months!!

Another Newbie Here. Not Banded yet.

Hi there! Yes i am "getting" banded too! Looks like it won't be until January. I have been to seminars, I had my application excepted, I have an appointment with my primary physician, I have talked to my insurance company and it looks like all I need to do is the 6 month waiting period. This will include tests, blood work, sleep study, evaluation by a therapist, and the 10% weight loss. Looks like a lot....but I am ready!! I would love for someone to be following the process at the same time.
