My mantra is "I can do ANYTHING for two weeks." That's how I got through my two weeks of fluids. That's how I get through most of my difficult experiences..... I just keep repeating my mantra. You, too, can get through this. You are stronger than you think you are. Use the week you have left to journal, read, talk, and to focus on how your life will be different once you are freed from the food prison you have been living in. Best of luck.... You can do ANYTHING for one more week!!!!!!

So I got a pretty cool compliment today. A fellow teacher had asked me a few months back how I lost the weight. And I told her everything. Then she emailed me about who my surgeon was. Today I saw her and she said she had started the process with my surgeon it made me feel good to know that my journey has inspired someone else to get healthy.

I write a blog about my LapBand journey and I was thinking one day that it would be helpful to know all the weight loss surgery "lingo" everyone was using. I posted a glossary of terms on my blog and I just wanted to post the link to it in the hopes that it helps new people feel more informed! I know it would have been useful to me when I first started, so I just want to help out my fellow weight loss surgery peeps
Even if you aren't a "newbie," go ahead and read it and let me know if you think I should add any words or terms to the list! Thanks!!

My dietitian said pretty much the same thing. That it's because it takes up too much room in your stomach and causes too much gas and pressure. Plus, it messes with your eating habits! It's no good if you're filling up on soda and have no room for Water, Protein, and other things your body actually needs!

Thanks everyone for responding.. it really is a comfort knowing that others have felt the way I do. And PuraVida... thank you for including a little bit of your story..
I have tried every diet as well. The only one I have had any success will is weight watchers... and still, that was not long term success. I am a huge sugar addict as well. There have been times where I feel like pure crap, so much so that I have felt that it would not be much longer before I would end up having a heart attack. Getting the lap band would pretty much be a last ditch effort to get my life back on track.

I'm towards the end of my pre-op stage right now, hoping to get my LapBand surgery in late February. I think it's hard for everyone because, to some degree, we all have a co-dependency on food. It's an unhealthy relationship that has to be dealt with though and I think a LapBand is going to be a great tool to help with that! I'm looking forward to actually feeling full and satisfied for once, among all the other health benefits
I had many of the same doubts that you did but what really helped me was reading stories about people who have been successful long term. Seeing that they were once just like me and were able to turn their lives around gave me so much hope! Here's the links to their blogs if you want to check them out. Wishing you the best of luck in your journey!!

What tmf said! Are you exercising? What works for hubby might not work for you. What does the surgeon's office say? are they suggesting anything? But, as cheryl said, sometimes the weight stops and then restarts by itself. Just keep on doing what has worked so far. Best wishes, Karen..aka..kll724

Hi everyone, I've been off for awhile just going through life, thinking and attending my nutritional visits. Well my last nutritional visit was Jan. 10th. I got my approval on Jan. 22. Yaaaayyy!!! My preop is Jan. 28 and my surgery is scheduled for Feb. 19!! I'm excited, sooo excited. I start my two week liquid diet on Jan. 28. My darling Hubby went to SAMs Club and purchased everything I needed. (So sweet)
I can say that I've stayed away from any Weight Loss forums just because I needed to take time and wrap my brain around "MY" journey. I didn't want to get caught up on "well, that's not what so and so went through." I needed this to be 100% my choice based on how I'm feeling about myself.
Please make sure that this surgery or any other surgery is for YOU and no one else!
Again though I'm super excited and I promise I will be here updating regularly.
    Love , peace and Blessings,

I chose the band because its reversible and nothing was removed or separated. The choice is basically yours but doctors are trying to push the sleeve to get away with all the after care that is involved in the band. I still would do it over again. Good luck on whatever you decide.

I chose the band because, to me, it is so much less drastic. I didn't want part of my stomach cut away. And I like it that, should it ever be necessary for any reason, the band is removable. I am glad to have found a surgeon who is a band doctor as so many are going for the sleeve now. The band requires a lot of followup care in the first year and this is expensive for hospitals and insurance companies. I like it that I see my surgeon frequently during this time (I am just three months out). It helps keep me accountable -- I don't feel like I'm on my own figuring it all out. And while I wish I had done this years and years ago, I realize the bands now are an improvement over older versions. So for me the timing was right. Also I knew that I would be able to do whatever it takes to make this successful. It turns out it's not hard. Having my appetite dimmed allows me to make healthy food choices and to live a life that is not ruled by food. I am very happy with my choice. Keep researching and searching yourself for what you feel is right for you. And know that whatever you decide the main thing is you are choosing your healthy future and that is a very powerful thing. You deserve to be healthy and happy!

This morning I started my daily Protein shake/ smoothie. A little Water, the last of the Greek yogurt, scoop of Protein Powder, frozen strawberries and voila! Blend in the Bella Rocket Blender!
Only this morning, the threaded cup locked tight in the machine (which is the on switch). Unplugged , tried with all my might to get the cup out of the machine! No luck! I'm laughing at myself for "fighting" with the blender - After all- THERE IS NO MORE YOGURT! And I don't live in town!
Went into hubs tools, found a small flat screw driver and finally , broke the seal! :-) you can guess, it also broke the lock on the blender... So as I sit here, enjoying my Breakfast, any suggestions for a small compact one or two serving RELIABLE blender? Cost not an issue, it's about convenience and portability. Thanks in advance! Hope you are enjoying your protein today!

Wow! And I thought my 3 months from first seminar to surgery was short! I say count yourself lucky, and just read up on it as much as you can
What I have found helpful in getting ready for surgery is reading other people's stories. You'll start to notice all the similarities and differences and it will give you a good general idea of what you can expect. This is a great forum to read stories and seek out information on a certain topic. Here are some blogs by some really inspiring women who tell their stories in detail:
