    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Thanks Skinnygirl! I'm only 5'4", so technically I'm still overweight according to BMI, but I'm sure I can speak for all of us when I say that chart can kiss my ass!! Hehe. I have a lot of muscle tone and just generally broad shoulders, big hips, etc. I feel like I'm healthy and I think I look healthy. I keep getting comments like "geez, how much more weight can you lose??" And I sort of agree. I'm completely happy with my body. My skin totally tightened up though I do have a bit of the bingo arms and my upper thighs are a little flabby. But really the belly is gone! Never thought that would happen! And my big bum is also mostly gone. Woohoo! Lol. @fostermama LMBO!!! It can totally kiss my butt! haha... Agreed, I too am getting the same comments...and my hubby doesn't want me to lose any more weight, BUT I just saw my doc on Tuesday... he wants me to lose 20 more by my 9mo check up... I am SAY WHAT??? I don't know if that's going to happen... I feel conflicted... I know I started out to be "healthy" but until I hit my goal I will be considered "over weight"... and on the other hand I am happy with the way I look... I need to work on my toning but that will come in time, I was just cleared two weeks ago to start walking / jogging - end of June I can start the other stuff... Congrats on your successful LOSS!! Haha that's funny about how doctors are so narrow minded sometimes and have to make us all fit in these nearly checked boxes. I feel really good and I know that I would not have any health risks at this weight; which like you, was why I had the sleeve in the first place. Good luck on your journey and thanks for the support!

Is anyone else done with weight loss?? I had no idea it would happen so fast! Six months almost to the day of my surgery and I've lost 70lbs since the surgery date and 93lbs in total. HW: 256 SW: 235 CW: 163 I'm a size 8 and a size small in most stores. I feel great and really have had zero problems since the surgery. Only vomited once a short time after the surgery. Other than that it's been wonderful. I generally eat whatever I want during the day. Never did protein shakes, they grossed me out too much! So I do have Quest protein bars usually four times a week and I have cheese, cottage cheese, and Greek yogurt for protein. Other than that I try to stay away from sweets and empty carbs. I am more active but maybe only three days a week I do serious exercise. I almost feel guilt about how easy this weight loss was (NOT)!! Hope everyone's journey has been as wicked awesome and rewarding! This weekend I'm going away with my family and extended family to a hotel WITH A POOL. AND I AM WEARING A BIKINI!!! Oh - the only side effect I'd say is I get rashes more easily. My skin seems to be more sensitive.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hey guys! Just a couple of questions. I had a bit of chocolate on Easter weekend (4 Hershey kisses) and then had diarrhea the next day (Saturday). Since then I've had bouts of diarrhea and I've lots about 4lbs. I've been eating but way below my protein intake. I have been getting my water in though. I've noticed that where my stomach is now is a bit sensitive. Like I can feel it and I'm more aware of it. Does that make sense? It could just be the stomach flu and that my stomach is sensitive but just wondering if anyone else has the same symptoms?

Hi!! My mom has pulmonary embolism as well. Did you have your surgery? Was it approved? Any complications? Thanks!!

Congrats!! I'm also down 80lbs since surgery on 12-09!! So exciting!! The only problem is WANTING TO BUY EVERYTHING!!! I bought a BIKINI for the summer. It's one of those retro high waisted ones, glad they came back in style because it hides the scars from surgery! last time I had a bikini was in grade five, twenty years ago!! Good luck to you!!

I decided to schedule my first appointment in December. Took till March to get an appointment. Not just for food issues but the issues that compel me to comfort myself with food, and lots more. I think it can be helpful to see a therapist, as many of us who have come to the point of surgery experienced some type of disordered eating. Heck, therapy can help everyone potentially, whatever they have going on. I completely agree. Therapy can do wonders. I really hope you can get to therapy of some sort soon. But in the meantime, don't be too hard on yourself. Thinking of ya and wishing you the best!!

I completely agree Pink!!! I eat whatever. Three kids and a husband to cook for, in school full time and all the extras make me very busy. I always have protein bars with me if there are no reasonable options but for the most part I eat what I want in small doses. I'm not a huge sweets fan since the surgery but I eat cheese and crackers ( multigrain) and I'll eat at friends' and families homes as well. Life is too short to count calories! If I'm hungry, I eat. So far I've lost 80 lbs and in 6 more lbs I'll be in the overweight category!!! (Not obese!!) I'm a size 12 and feel GREAT!!! Try to relax a little bit and try different things. The surgery is a life changing thing for sure but it doesn't mean you have to be a prisoner to it. Good luck!!

So I went to the doctor and have crazy low blood pressure. He said he can't believe I haven't fainted more often. I'm given two weeks to try and boost my blood pressure and if I can't I have to go on meds (don't want to!) gross thing is, I have to eat more salt. Blegh!! I have never liked salt. It's hard to find things to put salt on that isn't unhealthy. Had some potato and added salt and added it to my fish. But truly don't like the taste (unless we are talking popcorn!!) Thanks everyone for your well wishes! I'm making sure I get my protein in and my water as well. Doing more to ensure self care!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and well wishes!! I'm going to the doctor on Monday to get done blood work done. A little anxious but looking forward to the results. I think it was just me being dehydrated and dizzy from the bath. But I wanna double check. It was a good reminder to ensure self care. I'm a full time student and a Foster mom of three. So usually I have a long list in my day and I'm on the bottom. This was a good wake up call. Don't forget to take care of yourselves!!! Let me be a lesson for you!! Now I have this horribly bruised hip to remind me to drink some damn water!! Haha.
