shirlyn got a reaction from ImReadyforThis in Complications
I am so sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. The Patches worked like a miracle for me but after a week I started to build a tolerance for them and they started causing me side effects. (Dry mouth, metal taste, blurred vision, dizziness, irritation/ rash where the patch was placed) My surgeon said it was probably even causing my nausea, so be careful. It was the only thing that stopped the vomiting so I became dependent on them. I just did everything I could to get through the hard times and not end up back in the hospital, sounds like you are doing the same. Remember, it will get better in time. I would still do it all over again for the 40lbs I have lost and the way I feel now. Feel free to private message me

shirlyn got a reaction from lcoll in Today I am 3 weeks post op - questions on food
I can relate to your questions very much. At 3 weeks out I thought the same thing. 6 weeks was my turning point. I got hungry and wanted real food. Not just Protein Shakes. Once I started eating more solids I started experiencing the full sensation. I had not felt full up until that point though.
As far as getting enough protein..... Put Protein Powder in everything you can or stick with your shakes. Those are the 2 best bang for your buck type ways. Are you on an antacid? I was having extreme acid reflux that sounds a little like what you are describing. Just a guess. I have it so bad that it took 3 different meds to find one that worked and I have to take it twice a day.
    Good luck

shirlyn got a reaction from CrissyRing77 in what to drink?
Thank you for the suggestions. I am going to make some herbal tea right now. berry zinger.
The tea from Starbucks sounds good and I will have to try some before committing to a box off Amazon.< /p>
I have tried crystal light and mio, real heavy on the Water and light on the flavor and still heartburn city and nausea.

shirlyn got a reaction from SuperFab in tender and swollen just below right rib.
I had the same thing happen to me. I woke up out of a dead sleep in horrible pain. I called right away and my surgeon told me it was common. He said that during surgery your diaphragm can get irritated and as the swelling goes down can cause a sharp pain, usually on the right side, into your back and up into your shoulder. He told me to take Tylenol for the pain and not to worry. It was gone 2 days later. I did tell him that if the pain had come on like that but on my left side, I would have called 911 thinking something was seriously wrong.
Hope that helps and that you are experiencing the same thing and not any complications like gallstones or kidney stones.

shirlyn got a reaction from shall258 in Liquid diet phase
I am going trough the exact same thing. I am 16 days post op and still have sever nausea. I am also having a hard time getting anything in. I am averaging 32oz of liquid (almond breeze/ water) and 10grams of Protein (muscle milk powder in almond milk) per day.
I am also on a nausea patch that makes me dizzy and have blurred vision but at least I can handle the sick to my stomach feeling a bit more.
I still have 2 more weeks of the full liquid phase per my doctor. I am also lactose intolerant so any cream Soups, enriched milk, ect is out of the question.
As far as being hungry... I am just craving food... my body doesn't need it nor am I starving. Craving food is torture.
Everyone is saying to get on a liquid antacid since I cant tolerate a pill but my doc said there is not a liquid form and not to really worry about getting it in at this point. Though I have been reading that antacids really work for the nausea so I am going to really push to get on one.
My post op appointment is tomorrow and I feel like I just got out of the hospital. I have not left my house since the 19th and am not looking forward to the nauseating car ride there.
Hang in there. I am in the same boat as you are

shirlyn got a reaction from KaminaBlue in Want to eat so bad....
I am 15 days post op the sleeve and want to eat so bad. This is torture. My nausea has been so bad I am hardly getting in any Water or Protein. I feel extremely weak and no where near back to my self. Starting to beat myself up about having the surgery by asking myself if I could have done it on my own? A little late I admit. Sure hope things turn around. Anyone else have this type of experience? Does it get better? Encouragement needed.
