  1. Well, Sherry, I wish I could help you. I have been banded only since August 27th. Your nightmare is my greatest fear. I do know this; keep plenty fluids going. You do not want to be dehydrated. Good luck. Let me know what happens.
  2. Hi Candle and Shelli---I too weigh myself everyday. Up until now, I was afraid to get on scales. In fact, I could not find the scales!!! Went to see surgeon this afternoon. He is real pleased. I will be on liquids until 17th and them mushies. I thought I would be on mushies for 3 weeks and he said that I would be on mushies 1 week and then solid food. So, let me see 16 days until real food. I will be scared to death, to be honest, to eat real food.
  3. Hey guys, just went for my first visit to surgeon's office since I was banded on Aug 27th. He was real pleased with my progress. I will be on liquids for 9 more days, then mushies. I thought I would be on mushies for 3 weeks. He said they have re-thought that and I will be on mushies for 1 week. So, that means in 16 days, I will be on solid food!!!! What will I eat first. I am still thinking about that charcoal grill hamburger, minus the bun.
  4. Well, I really have a gross question. I have a terrible "coat" on my tongue. What is causing it??????????????
  5. Hello NMSUNSHINE---My doctor said the reason some use the 55 years old as a cut off "depends on how much mileage a person has left". Well, excuse me. I do not care if you are 75 and want to have lapband, it should be a personal decision. I truly believe that the lap band will add 15 years of "mileage". I feel that is age descrimination.
  6. Whosyourdaddy----CONTRATULATIONS----you are my hero!!! Good for you. Keep upthe good job.
  7. Elaine--I hope that I did not come across as nagging you. We have to struggle to be a success at this. I will not let a Whatburger stand in between a size 3X and a size 14. You can do this. Together we can all do this. However, that does not mean I won't kill for a Whataburger!
  8. Those protein shots are NASTY. I bought about 4 of them and they will go in the trash.
  9. Hey Denise and Stuart---Welcome to the group. I got my band on Aug 27th. I am far from the voice of experience. But I know the pain of gas pains, hunger pains and LIQUID DIETS. Let us know if you have any questions.
  10. Hey Shelli--I too am on day 10 and I agree with you about wanting meat. My first choice will be a very lean charcoal grilled, out in the back yard hamburger patty!!!! Bring it on. I had to go to primary care doctor today. I have a bladder infection. They gave me a prescription for liquid Cipro and can you believe my stupid WalMart did not have it. So, now I will wait until tomorrow and get it at Kroger where I usually do anyway. While at stupid WalMart, I found a product you'll (can u tell I am Southern)might be intersted in It is Protein that you can put in an individual bottle of Water. They have several flavors. Oh, it is made by Kellogg. Lost 18.1 pounds since 8/13/07!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Hey PammyCakes---my oldest daughter was born on November 1, 1968. Halloween is one of her favorite holidays. And oh, she is 6 feet tall and slim as a rail. Did not take after Mom----
  12. My birthday is October 23, 1948----Baby Boomers Against Fat
  13. TexasBecky, so happy you are enjoying your solid foods. I will use as my guide through the process if and when I get there. I had my surgery at LakePoint Medical Center in Rowlett. I hate to complain, but today, I feel like *&^%. I am so tired that I cannot believe it. I do not want to do anything today, not even get dressed. I think part of the problem is stress from my youngest (she is 35) daughter. She simply wears me out and for good reason. She is an alcholic. She does not admit her problem. She lost her precious teaching job last Friday. She taught pre schoolers and loved it. I do not know what happened to prompt her dismissal and probably do not want to know. She was so wrapped up in her own life, she did not even remember that I was having lapband surgery until her sister called her to tell her that I was fine!!! So, I imagine that explains why so tired.:bored:help:
  14. Hello Nancy. My name is Clara. I just now saw your post. I had my band on the 27th of August. I will be 59 in October. I also did this for my granddaughters. I want to see them grow up. I started my liquid diet on August 13th and will continue liquids for 3 weeks after surgery. I have lost 18.1 pounds. I go see my surgeon on Friday. He better be proud of me!!!!! There is a thread for those over 60 years of age. I usually bounce between this one and the one for 60 and over. Good luck. Keep me posted.
  15. Banded Chick--I did enjoy my outing yesterday. I still have some of the soup from AppleBees in ref. I had to step on scales this morning. Yesterday, I had lost 15.6 pounds. Now it is 18.1. Believe me that I am not afraid that I am gonna blow away, but how long can I expect this to last. Almost too good to be true.
  16. Did anyone notice that he found Jesus!!! He had to kill a bunch of dogs, but the good news, he found Jesus.
  17. Congrats TexasBecky. Did it seem like it took you forever to get to this point? I am a long way from where you are at now. One day at a time. Are you afraid to eat real food. I think I will be. Keep me posted. What part of Texas are you from. I live outside of Rockwall, Texas, east of Dallas.
  18. Well ladies, if I had it to do over, I would not have told my two sisters-in-law. Questions upon questions. And I am not saying that they are asking me if I feel ok, or is there I can do? No, first question-----"Well, Clara, how much weight do you want to loose". Why not ask me straight out how much I weigh and you won't have to do the math and tax your tiny pee brain!!!! Now she is pissed at me because I was upset by the question. Best thing is to keep it to yourself.
  19. Oh, Texas Becky. You will have to keep me updated on how it is going. I would be scared to death to eat "real food".
  20. I just cannot believe your doctor!!! I could use up this whole space ranting about him, but this is about you, not him. I am 7 days out from surgery. Thank goodness I love Soups. Although I love those loaded with potatoes, etc., not this broth stuff. I look at it like this; whatever it takes!!! I will endure the broths, Jello, all the "nothing foods". I had years of eating the other stuff. Today, I actually walked into AppleBees for carry out. I got their broc. cheese Soup. I put it in my blender and added Water to thin down. Believe me, it was a treat. Torture to walk into AppleBees though. You can do this. Use this site. I could not do it without all the friends I have made here. If you need us, just post a note. Someone will answer soon.
  21. Hey everyone; just found this thread and it is great. Thanks Shelli for starting it. For those that do not know me, my name is Clara. I was banded on August 27th and again on August 29th. That is right. First one slipped before I even got out of recovery. Anyway, as far as food goes, I am doing the Protein shakes--4 oz.at a time. Broth--4 oz at a time, Jello and popscyles. I try to have something about every 3 hours and so far, no heart burn, no hunger pains(my body is thinking "What the hell") and I am no longer on pain meds. It could not be going better. I am going to run some errands in a few minutes and I think I will stop at Fridays and get some cream of brocilli Soup to go. Zap in blender and that will be a real treat.
  22. Congrats on the meds. That is my goal is to get off all this expensive meds. I am diabetic. So, congrats to you.
  23. I have been banded just 1 week today. I too have a wicked taste in my mouth especially in the morning. It helps when I brush my teeth to also brush my tongue. I gag and gag, but it seems to help.
  24. Candle---Congrats on the gift certificate for house cleaning. It will make you feel so good to know you have clean sheets and you did not have to put them on yourself. I am much better today. How are you.
  25. Texas Becky--I am much better from the melt down. I guess we are all due one. Who would blame us. Anyway, today I am going to town and buy myself something; not clothes!!! Oh, I have lost 14.6 pounds. Thanks for your words of encouragement.
