  3. Candle---I hear you. I am so depressed about myself being in this condition. I am 58 years old, diabetic, arthirtus very bad. Had a knee replacement and a hip replacement. Very depressing. I saw your website and read it. I was so impressed I made one myself. My user name is cwigg99723.

  7. shellie---No way in heck will I back out. This is kind of a do now or never for me. When is your date. I know you told me, but I forgot. Mine is the 27th of August. Oh, I told hubbie to put the chips somewhere else(if you know what I mean) and it was not his truck.
  8. Hey Alexandera---I am supposed to drink the protein mix drinks too. But I noticed they have 200 calories!!!! Good grief. I am diabetic. I am now doing a carnation instant breakfast--sugar free in the morning. However, I fear I am not getting enough protein. Any suggestions. The last thing I want is to be skinny, but bald.
  9. Candle--can you believe I just went into the kitchen to make a CUP OF BROTH and I caught hubbie eating chips!!!!! OMG
  10. Band Chick--that is great. I am on my pre-opt. diet. I am on total liquids. I have been on it since Monday, the 13th and I have lost 7.8 pounds. Keep up the good work.
  11. Candle---Come on down. We always have room for more. We are about 2 hours from Austin. We live in the country on 20 acres. Have you ever been through a Texas summer; or worse even than that is when we have an ice storm. Have you ever seen Texans drive on ice. Not very pretty.
  12. Candle---no kids, thank the Lord. Just hubbie, 4 cats and a dog. Hubbie has gone on liquid diet too. He is way over weight too(sorry hubbie). He will following me in my foot steps. He is great!!!
  13. Yes, Boomer, I see myself going down the same path my mother went. She died at the age of 66 brought on my a massive stroke. She was diabetic, as I am. I want to see my grand kids grow up too. Good luck.
  14. Candle---That is my down fall--chips. For some reason, hubby and I were watching a movie and I got this wierd craving for tomatoes--of all things. Strange
  15. What is PBing????????????????
  16. nicnaknut---How do I find the topic you were talking about; topics for people over age 50?
  17. Mary, I hope and pray your doctor knows what he is doing. I hate to even put more fear and doubt in your head at this time!!! I had hip replacement almost 2 years ago. About 10 days later, my incision became red and inflamed and draining. I was running fever(103). We went to the ER and they immediately took action. To make a very long story short, I had one of those "super bug infections" that are resistant to antibotics. I had surgery the next day to drain the wound and they did it again 2 days later. I was on IV antibotics at home for 3 months. I had to have that hip replaced later on down the road. You need to ask your dr. if he has checked you for MRSA. Very important. This is the infection I had. Please let me know what happens. I really do not mean to scare you.
  18. Sonota---Hello, I'm Clara. I will be 59 this Ocotober. I will be banded on August 27th. I am meeting more and more people our age on this site. Most of them are younger, but if they had lapband when I was 35, perhaps I would not have gotten in my present shape. I am diabetic and have bad knees(lefe replaced) and bad hip(right replaced). I am also a self-pay. Insurance is not being agreeable with me. Perhaps they will come through, but I did have to pay me surgeon. He will not wait. Good to have you aboard. This is a great place for information and support. Let us know if you need anything.
  19. :clap2:Hey, Fat Attack---I hate to call u that. My name is Clara. I will be 59 this October. I have been tossing lap band around and around for some time. After much research and thought and prayer, my date is August 27. I do feel like the "old lady" here. There are a few of us. I have had left knee replacement; my right hip replaced----3 times before they got it right and my hip surgerys were all within 18 months---all 3 of them. I know about aches and pains. I am also diabetic. My doctor said he usually uses the age of 55 as his cut off. Thank he is making an exception with me. I am also a self pay . If you have any questions, this is the best place to get the answers. These people are terrific. Let me know if there is anything you need.
  20. Shelli--I am on day 6 of a 2 week liquid diet. It is not easy, but each day I am less hungry. Hang in there. Keep me posted.

  22. Doxielover-----Very good for you. Very happy for you
  23. Well, it took me nearly an hour to get this picture on the computer!!! Not an easy task for me.
  24. Shelli---I am sorry to hear about your mother in law. This can be a very stressful time, as you well know by now. When I was on day 3 of my liquid diet, some friends stopped by and I got out stuff for lunch; turkey, ham, cheese, etc and worst of all THE CHIPS!!!!!!!! Can you believe that my hand kept reaching out automatic for a chip. It was unreal, but I resisted. Again, I am sorry about your family's loss.
  25.:eek:You guys have given me so much confidence!!!! I actually have my weight on the ticker and now my photo. I have gotten through 6 days of the liquid diet and I have not cheated any at all. It is thanks to the support and encouragement I have been getting. I will really will need you guys on the 27th when I am banded
