  1. I tell people I take "phenteremine". They believe it. It's really no one's buisness.
  2. I hit 3 months post yesterday. So far I'm pretty happy with the results. I haven't had any stalls. At least none that I know of.. I don't weigh every week. I'm eating regular foods. I can pretty much eat anything. However, I can't each much of it. I'm usually full after about 4 bites. One thing I want to mention is that i have been breaking out in itchy rashes. On my legs, neck, thigh. At first I thought it was an allergic reaction, but now I think it has something to do with the fact that I'm not getting all the Vitamins needed for my body. I no longer drink Protein shakes. And even though I try to eat pretty healthy, I still don't think I'm meeting my nutritional needs. I'll ask my doctor about it at my next appt
  3. I'm about 3months post, and I can barely eat 2-3 oz of food before I get full. Sometimes I'm really hungry and I'll eat too fast and throw it right back up. And even if I don't throw up its hard to REALLY enjoy anything when you only eat 2 bites of it.
  4. I had to pay my $3500 deductible before the surgery. I think thats because it's considered "elective surgery"
  5. I'm 7 weeks out and my stomach still does this. Especially after a meal!
  6. The first two weeks after surgery were the worst. I was hungry the entire time. But it does ease up.
  7. Yes yes yes, I have experienced loose skin. I can't really go into details here, but read my blog!
  8. Mooncat, the strawberries and creme is my favorite. I freeze mine and then refrigerate to thaw out. Sometimes I blend it. It tastes just like a strawberry shake. I've tried several protein brands, and muscle milk is my favorite. EAS is my second favorite. Walmart has the EAS brand $4.98 for a 4-pk.
  9. Just wanted to let my fellow sleevers know that Big Lots now have the Muscle Milk Protein Shakes. A 4-pk for $3.00! They have strawberry, banana cream, chocolate and vanilla cream. If you haven't tried Muscle Milk products, try it now. They usually run $3.97 a piece in Walmart and other places, so this is great deal.
  10. Sassy in pink, they did let me take my ambien for the sleep study. I knew I wouldn't fall asleep without it.
  11. I was sleeved at a 35 BMI. But I did have 3 co morbidities that helped to get approval. I was 1. Diabetic 2. High blood pressure 3. Mild sleep apnea. I was sleeved Dec 20 and have lost about 25 lbs so far, now my BMI is 32
  12. Sleeved on 12/20. Weight loss of 25 lbs so far. Felt like I was a slow loser, but reading the other posts, seems about right. Had my 2 week appt with dr. Thought he was going to advance e to purée but he advised that I had to to do liquids for 4 weeks, not 2. ugh! But other than that, all is well. Walking a few days a week. Trying to get more protein in, he said I lost some muscle. Found EAS protein shakes in Walmart for $4.98 for 4 pack. Brought the strawberries and cream, it tastes really good!
  13. I took 4 weeks off. The doctors stressed that I shouldn't rush back. I had the PS time, so why not? Not only am I focusing on healing physically, but I'm growing with my sleeve emotionally and mentally. I'm also adjusting to eating and drinking differently.
  14. Don't worry I felt the same way after surgery. The nurses were really pushing fluids, but I could barely take a couple of sips without feeling nauseated. I also had bad pain in my upper chest and shoulder/back area. I stared to panic my second night at hospital because I didn't think I would ever get down 3 of those little medicine cups. Those 6 oz felt like 6 gallons. I found something that worked for me though. I tipped my head back- like you do when you have a nose bleed. I was able to get the liquids down that way. I mean it looked silly tipping my head back to drink, but hey, it worked!
  15. I had to pay it upfront because it is considered an "elective" surgery.
  16. My surgeon also advised me not to bother crushing pills. Luckily for me, my meds were pretty small, I was able to swallow them without any issues.
  17. I'm 4 days out and I'm hungry too. Everytime I see a commercial about food, my mouth waters. Bacon thick cheeseburgers, KFC, steaks and potatoes, Chilli hotdogs with colesaw, the new taco melt....you name it. I want it! Lol but with that said, I know I can't have it, so I just have a protein shake instead. Matter-of-fact, I think 90% of my day is spent thinking about these foods. My stomach even growls a little. Smh.
  18. Lol Laura Vern that pic is years old. Trust me, I am still considered "obese". My starting weight is 246. According to data, my weight should be 160.
  19. I started the process in late August 2013.I have BCBs and I was approved in November 2013. I didn't have to wait 6 months... But if they would have wanted me to wait, the nurse said I could bypass that if I could get my doctor to send in his notes for the past year to show that I was having issues with controlling my diabetes. Luckily, I didn't have to wait though
  20. JeanZ, my doctor didnt hesitate either. He said I was a great candidate for the surgery. I also didn't have any trouble getting approved by my insurance company. I guess they could see that it would be smart for them too in the long run. My insulin pump alone was $6000.
  21. Thanks for the encouragement jdub. I have type2 also and it has progressively gotten worse over the years. I went from taking oral medication, to insulin, to being on the pump. Of course there is a domino effect with diabetes. I gained weight which cost me to get hypertension and sleep apnea. I'm pretty tall, so I tended to carry the weight well too. I looked ok on the outside but my body was literally killing me from the insides out. I'm excited to hear you are no longer diabetic, I pray for this outcome also!
  22. I was sleeved on the 20. I had about 5 different nurses during my hospital stay. Each and every one of them questioned me about how I was able to have the surgery, because I wasn't "fat". I don't know how I feel about this. Not everybody have the surgery because of extreme obesity. I have diabetes, sleep apnea, and hypertension. My BMI is 35. Obviously I did it for health reasons, but I feel extremely judged. It's one of the reasons why I haven't told anyone about the surgery (except for hubby of course). Anybody else have the surgery for their medical conditions?
  23. I understand your pain! I was sleeved on the 20th. I wasn't expecting to be in so much pain. I've had a c-section and a hysterectomy, but the sleeve hurt the worse. When I awoke from surgery, they asked me my pain level and I replied 10! And then I was so nauseated, I couldn't tolerate liquids and had to stay an extra day in the hospital. It was rough. I'm on day 3 now and reading these boards helps me because I know I'm not alone
