May I ask how your surgery has helped your Type 2 diabetes? I am going to have bypass soon and am also Type 2 with great difficulty controlling because of severe insulin resistance. Do you still take meds and how is your blood sugar both pre and post op? Thank you. Ms. renkoss before surgery (vertical sleeve) my A1C was 12. At my last doctor's visit in December 2015, it was 6.5. I too have struggled with uncontrolled diabetes. I was even on the insulin pump before surgery. It helped control the diabetes, but I gained over 100 lbs. I am no longer on the pump and my sugar levels have leveled out. I still take 500 mgs of Metformin twice a day. Although I've been having a lot of lows, which makes me think maybe I don't even need The Metformin. My overall health has improved so much. I am so happy I had this surgery!

I have diabetes type 2 and it sounds like low sugar to me. It's very scary, you literally feel like you're dying.. The worst feeling ever

I took vitamins the first few months after surgery. They started making me sick, so I stopped. I see my doctor every six months and my lab results are always fine. May not work for everyone, but I've literally has no issues and I'm 2.5 yrs out

I didn't need prior authorization for my secondary insurance. Just the primary one. And they both paid!

I'm 1.5 years out and it's still a struggle. Food still makes me nauseous at times. Also, sometimes I may have a certain food on my mind, and can be extremly hungry, but only eat A very small amount before I'm full.

Since the surgery, I cannot tolerate milk at all. It makes me extremely nauseated

Absolutely! I had diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and metabolic syndrome. Not to mention I was always fatigued and depressed. Most of my issues have completely been eliminated or has significantly improved. Even if there was no weight loss, I would have had the surgery

My sleep study was pretty simple. Like above, it was done at a facility with about 5 private rooms. I had my own shower/bathroom. List of wires were attached beforehand. Nothing painful involved. I had to ask if it was ok to take my Ambien because I couldn't fall asleep naturally! Turns out, I wake up 23 times an hour which turns out to be mild apnea.

@@Cara 24 I'm 5'9. For me a size 8 is perfect but anything less looks really skinny. I still like curves. And yes I've made an appt with my dr., he couldn't get me in till. February. I think part of the issue is that I'm losing muscle. I don't exercise. I don't really watch my Protein intake either. I just eat when I'm hungry which is not much.

Yes I'm at the point where people are telling me this. It's been just over a year since I had my surgery. I went from a size 18 to a 8. I feel good. I think I look good. But you can Definitly see the weight loss in my face. Ive met my goal and I really don't want to lose any more. Just maintain. But sure enough, I am steadily losing. People are starting to give me strange looks.. My husband is the only one who knows I had the surgery. I don't want to look sick, but I literally can't stop losing. This was one of my fears before I had the surgery.

People didn't really notice untill i lost about 38lbs... But once they noticed, they would comment all the time it, saying things like " don't lose anymore or you will disappear" or "you don't need to lose" or "you're getting too skinny", etc. it really gets on my nerves so be happy for now because when they do start, it will eventually get on your nerves too

For me, pain level was about a 9 when I woke up from surgery. It was worse than my c-sections and hysterectomy put together! But the good thing is that it quickly subsided with pain medication. I was pushing that pain button a lot

@foster, don't feel bad, your pcp will give you something to help. It was my pcp that gave me the Valium. They know your history better. I've had the same one for over 10 years.

This happened to me a few weeks ago! I'm a little over 6 months post op. I couldn't even hold water down without puking it back up. This went on for four days. Went to see my surgeon and was dehydrated. He sent me to hospital for intravenous fluids. I felt much better afterwards and was able to eat and drink. He thinks something I ate got stuck and wouldn't allow anything else to go down. If the fluids didnt help,he stated he would have to do another endo... I was sure glad it did because I did not want another endo

I'm 6 months out and this still happens to me every now again. Even though I hate throwing up, it usually does the job, and I'm fine afterwards. For me, this occurs if I eat too fast, I don't chew, or I eat something I know I'm not sussposed to ( like pizza)

@Fostepussycat, no I took the Valium for only about 3 weeks. it did just dissipate. But I still take the Glucosomine which you can get from any vitamin area of a store for about $6.

Yes! I had surgery in December. Started having symptoms or RLS. Well it was my legs, thighs, arms all over. Couldn't sleep at all. Ended up having my doctor prescribe me small dose of Valium. Also started taking Glucosomine ( over the counter for bones anf joints). This really seemed to help after about 2 weeks of taking it

I have type 2 diabetes. before the surgery, I was on an insulin pump. About a month after the surgery I was taken off the pump and I now only take Metformin. What a blessing this surgery has been. I used to get depressed thinking about wearing that pump the rest of my life..

Had a little of peach ciroc a few weeks ago. I'm 5 months post op. I didn't really get buzzed, nor did I get sick.
