shmily got a reaction from mrsto in Anyone having trouble with friends?
My family all live in another state except for my hubby of course, and my son and daughter about 1-1/2 away. My daughter is overwt and supported me in the beginning but now is combative about it. Her and her husband wanted to bring fried chicken (my fav) here for Easter and I said NO but they could certainly go eat it there. So far nothing has bothered me, I have made nice meals for my husband, including bacon and french toast, popcorn, omelet, and lots of other things. Went to the movies and watched him eat his big popcorn and smelled it all through the theater. But I just don't want to smell the fried chicken..I have told very few people that know me, and none of my family out of state. I didn't want to deal with their opinions and the "why can't you just go on a diet". I figure it is my business anyway. Funny how most socialization is built around drinking or eating and we never really notice it until we start our new life.

If instead of saying "I can't have it"...you said "I am full, I don't want it", that would really throw her for a loop......

Grief makes people insane. They say and do things they may not typically say.
No, this surgery doesn't make you selfish or a bad mom. This surgery doesn't fix every aspect of your life. It doesn't make you prettier, or smarter either.
It helps with You getting heathier.

shmily got a reaction from DelayedGratification in How much protein are you getting daily?
To me, that is a lot of calories but I am not that far out. Right now ending my 3rd week, I take in about 400 cal a day, by doctors orders.......strangely I am satisfied. I went to the movies today with my husband and he had a large popcorn and a soda. I had my Protein Drink and a bottle of Water, BUT the looser fitting pants I had on made it ok...

Maybe you could pretend you are pregnant and having morning sickness, in several months you will be thin instead of fat and you won't have a nagging teenager in 13 years. Sorry, sometimes a sense of humor helps, no offense intended.......can't your doc give you something? Mine did for nausea...

shmily got a reaction from jkppt in Pre op diet
It just depends on your doctor I guess. My doctor has impressed me with his thoroughness. He said the main reason for the pre op diet of two weeks was not so much to lose wt. although that was a plus, but to get me used to putting Protein first and to shrink my fatty liver so he could still do laproscopic...

Post-Op I was prescribed liquid Lortab, however; I take a number of other medications I haven't had any problems swallowing them. I have a couple huge pills and I just break them in half and make sure I take drink then drink with the pill while I swallow it and then drink some more. It's kinda become OCD for me. The only problem you would run into would be if you were on some kind of extended release medication. It's always best to talk to your surgeon and get his opinion on how you should take your medication.
BTW. CONGRATULATIONS on your surgery date! Woo HOO!

shmily got a reaction from Cookiesgotthis in post- op Dr. visit
Good Morning.....I had my two week post op appointment yesterday. All was good....as of this morning, including the pre op diet, I am down 27.4 pounds....
He set my wt loss goal about 20 less than I would like, I don't want the air to go all out of my face, but we will see. Now I have to start the exercise portion and this doc should run a boot camp!!!
I get to start soft foods today, 2 shakes and the 3rd meal is 1/4 c of greek yogurt, or soft soft meat etc. I am thinking some of the bison I made in the crockpot for my husband a few days ago, just cooked in Water and seasoned. Doc says fine but don't be surprised if a few small bites and I am full. Funny how different doctors have different rules.
