Hi my name is Jennifer Rodgers and I have chosen to have sleeve gastrectomy surgery. I am very nervous about the procedure and do not have any family near by however I have a good amount of friends to help me along the way.
A little back story: I am 30 years old and while I was in the Navy (2001 to 2007) I was extremely fit. I carried on working out 4 hours a day and counting just about every calorie that went into my body until Nov. of 2008, and then I lost a great job and my life kind of went up-side-down. I maintained a healthy weight of 150-155, and then ballooned to 210, and then that increased rapidly to 220 all with in a few months. I went to the doctors office and after learning that there was nothing medical to my weight gain I decided to try to hit the gym again. That was an epic fail. While I loved Zumba and Step aerobics they didn't love me and I injured my knee. I knew I had to do something drastic and so lap-band for me was the answer. After 10 months of hell with the band and then 20 days not being able to eat, and finally 3 days unable to hold down fluids I went to the hospital knowing it had to have slipped. The band was removed after being in the hospital for 2 weeks. After it was removed I stayed around 200 lbs and didn't care, I was defeated. One day I woke up not wanting to be this weight any longer so I started working out again and re-injured my knee. I'm tired of having to struggle all of the time with my weight, c-pap machines, high cholesterol medication and soon to be high blood pressure medication. I know for most surgery isn't the answer, and after the lap band failing I thought I could get it together and get the fat off by myself, and that is not the case. So here I am ready to have the gastric sleeve procedure on December 24, 2013.

I'm ready to get my life back. I finally have a job I love going to every day, friends who are supportive of anything positive I do for myself and am at a place in my life where I know if I don't change now it's only going to get worse and that's a scary thought.

So please if you have any words of encouragement, or advice do not hesitate to drop me a line. Take care and God Bless.
