  1. I hope it all works out for you! Has anyone ever heard how Nailsbyniki is?
  2. Hi Everyone, I am starting my journey and I figured I would write about it thinking it will be nice one day to look back and see how far I've come. Yesterday was Day 1 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Let's just say it was rough. I can't lie, I really wanted to eat something. I was supposed to have 4 shakes, and I only had 3. I did have some broth (added some unflavored Protein powder) in between and I had one string cheese. I know, it's not liquid but I was literally starving and figured based on other per-op diets, it was the best choice as it was protein. Anyway, I know today I will definitely have all 4 Protein drinks and see if that helps me. Surprisingly, I am not as hungry as I thought I would be but I do feel week and I am sure that withdrawing from all the carbs is contributing to that. Lucky for me, I was off yesterday and was able to lie down when I was tired. What brought me here was that I had a lap-band put in May, 2005 at 230 pounds. I lost about 40 pounds over time but was never able to go further with the band. I ended up pregnant and gained all the weight back. I tried to use my band but ended up with such bad reflux that I would end up waking up in the night choking on acid. That happened about 3 times and I knew, it was three times too many. My band was deflated and I was told that I would have to have my band taken out and wait a few months to have another band or a sleeve. I went to. Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia and got a second opinion. My doctor is now doing all of this in one procedure as well as repairing my hernia on March 3, 2014. Today, I am 1.7 pounds lighter and as crazy as it sounds, I feel lighter. My starting weight was 227 and now is 225.3. I am looking forward to being thinner but more importantly healthier. Thanks for sharing my journey with me!
  3. I don't take surgery lightly. I have a disabled husband and three daughters (14,12 & 10). At the rate I was going, I was on the path to a heart attack and other ailments which really could have limited my life. Now, I find that I'm starting to get a passion for clothes shopping again, I'm smiling more and the best of it is I feel amazing! This was the BEST thing I ever did for myself! I LOVE my sleeve! Where are you having your surgery?
  4. Hi everyone, So far so good. My weight loss has slowed down but I've been going to the gym so that happens when you first start out. Plus, some hormone issues so that affects things too. I'm down to 196.6 and I feel really food at 3 1/2 months out. I wish I was losing faster but after being down 32.4, I'm not complaining. I work out about 4 days per week and really try to maintain a more active lifestyle. I get compliments all the time which makes me feel great. I find that I can eat about 1,400 cals on the days I work out and burn about 550 at the gym so I'm happy. I'll be doing my blood work in about a week so I'll check back in after that! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
  5. Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't posted~been so busy with my kids! I feel really good! Lost 20 the first month, 5 the second month and down another 2.3 so far this month. Total = 27.3 Starting Weight 229 Surgery Day 220 Today 201.7 Still having trouble with my water and really need to try harder with that! Getting most of my protein in because I still drink shakes everyday. Starting to lose some hair but I feel great! How are all of you doing?
  6. Hi, I lost 8 pounds pre op and I'm not sure if they weighed me in the hospital or not cause I really don't remember that. It looks like you had your surgery yesterday so keep us posted. 5 pounds is great! I'm down 25 now. It's slow but I'm not drinking enough water and I'm not exercising. I know when I step that up starting this weekend, I'll be really happy!
  7. Congrats to both of you! Yes, it includes my pre-op diet as well. I'm down 20.5 total. Looking forward to 30 pounds next!!

    Who is in March?

I think my almost 2 week stall has finally ended! Pre op-229 SW (3/3)-220.1 1 month-209 Today-208.5 It's been slow coming off but I know without my sleeve, it would be miserable and 20.5 pounds heavier!
  9. 1 month post op..... I LOVE my sleeve! I'm so glad I did this! Even though I had a stall for almost 2 weeks that I finally broke this week, I feel amazing!!!! So far, I'm down 20.5 pounds! Yesterday marked one month. I know if I didn't have my sleeve, I would still be sluggish, 20.5 pounds heavier and not fitting into my clothes better! Best decision ever!!!!

    March Sleevers!

    Feel better soon!!!
  11. I'm almost 4 weeks out and down 18.6 pounds (8.9 PreOp and 9.7 post op). I have been at a stall for about 10 days. I am going to up my water and protein and see if it helps too!!!
  12. You'll be so much happier with the sleeve after a week of recovery. I just wish I didn't have this stall. It's so frustrating!
  13. I know...I'm trying to get all the water in now. I drank more yesterday and I'm still at a stall. So disappointing!

    Pre op diet

@Heather~ that's great! If I remember correctly didn't you have a stall? I am almost 4 wks out and haven't lost anything in a week. I'm not drinking much water so I'm going to try to drink what I should today. When did you stall and for how long? It's so frustrating!
  15. Hi, I'm feeling really good! Back to work full time and been so busy. Haven't really lost any weight this week but only drinking like 16 oz of water & I think that's why. Going to try to get my 64 oz in today and see if that breaks the stall.
  16. I didn't sleep good until after about 3 days. I had a problem with the pain meds messing up my sleep. So, I just stayed on Tylenol and writhing about 2 days, I started feeling normal. Now, I sleep through the night with no problem. Hope you feel better soon! Exactly two weeks post-op today. Down 8.3 since surgery. Total including 2 wk pre-op 17.2. Today I start soft and mushy foods and I can't wait! I'm not hungry, just want to chew.
  17. Thank you!! I'm 1 wk, 2 days post op and today was a good day! I am down 16.5 total. HW: 229, SW: 220 Today: 212.5 I feel so good! I'm going to try to go back to work tomorrow. If it's too much, I'll leave early. For me, I can't wait to be back in my daily routine and I am so happy that I did this. I actually catch myself looking in the mirror and smiling! I haven't done that in years! The only thing is I think my teeth are yellowing and I wonder if that's from lack of chewing! I start puréed in 5 days and I can't wait to chew! I'm going to be seeking out recipes and tips for the puréed stage. I live my sleeve!
  18. 1 week Post-op. I'm down 15 pounds total. I feel good and I'm trying to get out more so I can be good to go back to work early. Just sore near belly button incision but otherwise doing good. I am still only drinking protein drinks, broth and jello. Looking forward to 2 weeks post op so I can eat soft and mushy.
  19. 6 Days post op! Down 14 pounds since starting 2 week PreOp liquids. Overall feel good but get tired very easily. I'm starting to feel good about my decision now that I'm getting back to feeling like myself. It really wasn't painful much. I only took pain meds the day of surgery and two days after. Then I took Tylenol on the 4th day and haven't taken anything since. I'm moving around good but like I said, I get weak after doing too much because of my limited intake. But, so far so good!
  20. I am scheduled to be sleeved on March 3rd. My pre-op diet starts next week. I have so many emotions going through my head right now...excitement, nerves, anticipation, worry...it's unreal! I know at 5'4 and 228 pounds, that it's time to take this weight off for good! I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about complications but for the most part, I am a very healthy person and I do try to think positive. I try to think about what it will be like to shop for clothes that will look great on me. Sometimes though, I look at my 3 daughters and worry about "What if something goes wrong?". I'm worried about going from full eating to a liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery. I'm not so worried about after because I've been reading that afterwards, you really don't even want anything. Any other March 2014 sleevers?
  21. I came home this afternoon. Believe it or not, I feel better when I move around. When I sit it lay down, I get stuff and then I hurt. I've never realized how many food commercials there are when you can't eat. This is how I feel.... I want to taste something...pizza, ravioli, egg with ham....something! I can't lie I WANT to eat! However, I FEEL like I don't want to even drink my 4 ounces that I have to. I know it sounds strange but that's how I feel. Looking forward to soft and mushy foods!

12 off in first week pre-op

I started at a size 16/18 and I completely agree with you. Contrary to what others say, most people say things like that because they really don't want others to succeed more then them. Just because I was a size 16, doesn't mean I was healthy at 229 pounds. Only we know how we feel and what our desires are. Kudos to you for taking the steps needed to be the best you can be. I had my surgery & I don't regret anything. I look forward to being healthy, happy and a size smaller than 16/18!
