Thanks so much for the pictures of your desk. That is very clever. Will see if my husband could put something like together for me. He is fairly handy.

Thought it might be helpful to share something that has worked out rather well for me so far post-op.
Got inspired by some examples I came across surfing the internet and figured once I had committed WLS it couldn't be a better time to build a treadmill desk. Since I already had the treadmill, building one primarily meant fashioning a desk add-on that could lock to the upper portion of the treadmill and support a keyboard / mouse. Secondarily was finding a decent media stand that could support the componentry desired and raise it to a functional standing height.
Though it would be possible to do computer work on these, I primarily use it for gaming (Xbox / PC) and watching tv / movies while walking.
Certainly helps the time go by and average about 2 hours a day on it currently.

Koofka reacted to PdxMan in Weight will stop redue after six months ? Is that true
They call the first 6 months the "Honeymoon" stage as this is when your weight loss will be "easiest". I use that term lightly, though, as this is just something you have to experience to understand, I think. For me, after 6 months, I was able to tolerate just about anything. These first 6 months are your opportunity to learn new eating habits, find an exercise routine which you can maintain and basically find your groove for your new lifestyle. That meant I also needed to do some soul searching discovering the core reasons why I had such a poor relationship with food.
For some folks, after the 6 month mark, they discover they can eat a doughnut, so they do. They return to their old eating habits and continue to abuse food. This is where the "real" work begins to take place.
The bottom line is as long as you follow the guidelines for sleevers, you can lose the weight you want and maintain the weight you want for yourself. Stop following the guidelines and you will struggle. This is true at 6 months, 2 years, 5 years ...

I am 1 year out. I remember the days of not feeling "Normal" because I could only eat a couple of bites. Also I was depressed that I could only eat a couple bites.
I can't eat a "meal" as in pre-surgery 1500 calories in one sitting "meal". But I can eat about 4 shrimp, a couple bites of salad, and a couple bites of rice in one sitting. I eat many small meals now and don't mind it. It has become my life and I can't remember how it feels to eat so much in one sitting any longer.
Hang in there, it gets better!

Last night we watched a movie and my hubby said " anything good to eat in this house?" I got up and got him a snack brown rice chips. 20 chips for 80 calories. only 1 gm of Protein and too much sodium. But it is better then lays chips by far.
I have been getting him lentil chips and hummas chips etc. He told me last night that if he eats one more healthy snack he is going to rebel. Not totally healthy I said. There is a lot of salt in them. And no taste he added. I asked him to please eat better. Your getting older and health becomes an issue even for you skinny guys.
He replied that he has eaten enough legumes and seeds to last him a life time..Laughing I told him that is because they are better for you then beef.
He ate them but he was not happy. I told him he will get used to them...He said fine!!!!! I won't complain much!
He is such a hoot!!!! LOL

2 things come to mind for me.
My Nalgene 32oz Water bottle with an aftermarket top for easier drinking. Pretty much my post-op security blanket as it goes most everywhere I do.
My treadmill desk setup - primarily use it for walking while gaming or watching tv shows or movies, but it certainly makes the time go by pretty easily ( currently do about 2 hours a day on it ).

So as of stepping on the scale yesterday I am now half the man I use to be.. Literally... I was at one point in my life at 418 pounds. Just before surgery I was at 362. Yesterday I weighed in at 209 so 153 pounds gone since surgery and 209 overall. Talk about feeling like an entirely different person!
I am still loosing weight at this point at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds per week. April 3rd will be my 1 year since surgery and this has been one crazy ride!
I decided to Celebrate this milestone and picked up a new road bike yesterday. Who would have thought I would be riding one of those bikes with the skinny tires or riding a bike at all.... Not me thats for sure!!

    Hey all.
Sharing a small milestone on my WLS journey - hit one hundred pounds down today in a bit over 3 months since surgery. Have dropped in pant sizes from 58's to 46's over that period.
Sadly, still have quite a long way to go and a bit uncertain I'll make it since I have hit a couple stalls over the last 20 pounds or so.
But still felt it was a worthy moment to share.
    Thanks for listening.

I did not realize you could not take pills. I currently am on about 8 to 12 a day. This would be a big problem unless I could come off of all the drugs. What a blessing that would be. Thanks for the info.
