I registered but never received any confirmation.

When I tried to sign in, I received the message that my registration is incomplete.

I approved people at 5:00 am so hopefully you were one of those. If not, please email me at marla@laminack.com and I will make sure you are registered.

I'm sorry I have to approve people. We haven't always done that. We have approximately 100 spammers from overseas per day try and sign up to spam the forums with offers of viagra and other things.

Its less time consuming for me to approve real people vs spammers than it is to constantly delete spam posts from the forums.

  2. Were you able to sign up yet? For awhile we blocked anyone from outside the US because people were signing up from overseas and spamming the forums. We've unblocked that again and I'm just having to be more diligent about deleting spam.

It's true there is not a ton of traffic on the site but we've got over 3,000 members and growing every day. It takes time to build a successful dating site. Be patient, check back often and share the link in your groups and with single friends!

  3. We've tried very hard and spent a lot of money over the last three years to get this site going. It's extremely hard to start a dating site from scratch. When I researched making this site, I learned that most companies make up 500 - 1,000 fake profiles and send fake messages to people. I wasn't about to do something as dishonest as this. What I do need for this dating site to be a success is for people to talk about it and share the link with their friends. A lot of people say negative things about the site because it's not got 100,000 members. I'm not sure where people think I'm magically supposed to make those people appear from.

This dating site is totally free to use, unlike other sites. I am happily married and don't need the site. The site was created two and a half years ago when I was talking to some wls friends about the hardships of dating after wls. I thought how cool it would be to date or even marry someone living the same lifestyle. I asked my husband to build the site and I assumed the wls community would support it and advertise it. It takes a village to make a new dating site successful.

As I stated earlier, this site cost me a few thousand dollars. I did it because I am passionate about weight loss surgery, relationships and helping people succeed. The site is completely free to use. The only person it costs is me.

There have been at least three successful relationships come from the site that I know of.

It would be great if rather than talking negatively about the site and the lack of members if people would help support it by sharing the link with your friends and in your online support groups. Only then will the wls singles grow.

Thanks so much and good luck!

  4. I have spoken with Alex about this and I believe his response was that he's too busy promoting his own site to promote mine! He has graciously let me post here a couple of times.

I try to post in Facebook groups but oftentimes the admins don't allow it, which I don't understand. I made the dating site as a favor to friends who asked for it. It's totally free and I make no money off the site. The site costs me money.

New dating sites take time and I'm still hopeful it will take off eventually.

  5. My husband does build sites and when I decided I wanted to start that site, I had two options. I could wait months for him to build a site from scratch with all custom coding or we could buy one off the shelf and have the site within a couple of days. Being the impatient female I am, I wanted it right away! lol

There are a lot of things about the site I would change and will eventually. It's just hard to justify pulling my husband off paying jobs to spend hours and hours on a free site. I need to work on content but suffered a pulmonary embolism after my Tummy Tuck in January and have been recovering from that. I will someday make changes but for now, it serves a purpose.

    Thanks for your input!

  6. I am 51 and was sleeved two years ago. I am well below my goal and have just scheduled round two of my plastics. I slept with a cpap machine for 13 long years and stopped using it about six months after surgery. I had previously had three knee surgeries and could barely walk to the mailbox. I now walk/run 5ks and usually walk 5 miles a day.

    Welcome!

  7. Alex has graciously allowed me to sneak into the mens room to tell you all about something exciting! I've started a dating website for bariatric patients. I wanted to create a safe place where men and women who've had surgery can meet people with similar goals. I can't think of anything more awesome than finding someone to share this journey with.

Our website is TOTALLY FREE! It features profiles with up to ten pictures, private chat, private email, blogging and more.

We are just getting off the ground so it will take some time to build the membership but you can help make this a success. If you are single or have other single friends, please send them to check out the site.

We've got a fair amount of women to get started but we need men!

Please visit www.loveafterwls.com for more information and to get your profile started.

  8. We have tried some advertising but nothing has really worked so far. Between the site and advertising I am already out several thousand dollars. I'm committed though to building the site and keeping it free and am just eating the costs because I believe there is a need for the site and would really like to see it be successful.

I was really hoping for a lot of word of mouth advertising. I know many of us are in multiple groups and have lots of ways of sharing. If you have any ideas for advertising I would love to hear them!

  9. I love to give head and swallow so this was an issue for me. I think I was more afraid of what would happen in the beginning. If it hurt I would wait a month then try again. It gets easier and before you know it you won't even remember it being an issue. Good luck!

  10. Hi Ladies! I started an online dating site for people who've had bariatric surgery. It's totally FREE. It's just getting off the ground and will take awhile to build the membership but all sites started somewhere. Please feel free to join and tell your friends! We especially need more men. Over a million people worldwide have had some sort of bariatric surgery and that number grows daily. It would be great to find a boyfriend/girlfriend with the same interests! The link is www.loveafterwls.com

  11. I'm at my goal weight, having lost 137 lbs. I think my lose skin is sometimes worse than the fat was. I don't think I was really prepared for what my body would look like. Did it stop me from rocking a bikini in the Bahamas last week? No. I am looking into plastics but am having some vein work done first. I've had the first of two vein surgeries in one of my legs done. Will have the other one done next month and then will get serious about plastics. I will definitely be having a Tummy Tuck, boobs, arms and possible thighs done. I would love a butt lift also but that's low on the priority list!

  12. Hi All! Alex has graciously allowed me to post once about my dating site for weight loss surgery patients. I designed this site after input from several friends who have had weight loss surgery, myself included. Many of us are new to dating and just discovering ourselves and dating in general is hard enough, let alone after weight loss surgery. I thought it would be a great idea to bring men and women together who have both had some type of weight loss surgery. We all want to stay on track and we all fear regaining the weight we've worked so hard to lose. Finding someone with similar goals and interests would be great for long term success. www.loveafterwls.com was born!

loveafterwls.com is NOW totally FREE! If you were a previous paying member, please unsubscribe and rejoin as a FREE member.

Our site offers personal profiles with up to ten pictures, blogging, instant messaging, forums and more. Like all new dating sites, it will take awhile to grow our membership but come on in, fill out your profile, start a blog if you wish and help build this dating site into something great!

Please tell your friends, especially men. We currently have a lot more women on the site than men.

    Visit www.loveafterwls.com for more information!

    Thanks :)
