  1. Good morning, Thank you for responding to my desperate post. I don't feel quite as bad this morning, but when I stepped on the scale and saw it was up by 4 lbs...I knew I was in trouble. This morning it is up 3, but I will get it back down again. I don't know why I haven't been measuring or even thinking of the consequences. I just ate and ate, I didn't eat chicken or red meat, I gorged on home made goulash!!!! I must of eaten at least 4 cups (which in itself is crazy, as why would my pouch hold that much? That was my biggest worry....that my pouch has stretched, and I was in big trouble, but none of you seemed to think that was an issue. Do you know if it does stretch? Anyway, I do feel better this am, and I will call the DR tomorrow and see if I can get in for a fill, if they think it is necessary. This is an awesome site, when I woke this am, I wondered if anyone had replied, and was so pleased to see so many responses. Yep, back on the horse that I fell off of....and off we go again. Thanks so much, evh
  2. Hi to all, I have really messed up for the past, I don't know, maybe two weeks. I stopped tracking what I eat. I didn't measure out, I didn't watch too carefully what I ate, I just knew that my stomach would tell me if it was the wrong thing or too much. Well, tonight I started "sliming" and then got sick. I feel so bloated and I am sooooooo mad at myself for not watching what I was doing, and I am in tears. I had my Lap Band Surgery 12/6/2013, and after three fills, the last one in April, I thought I was doing well and in the green zone. I don't know what happened, and why I got so complaisant, but I just started eating, and I guess sort of went back to the old habits. I realize that I should not of weighed right now, (7:00 at night), but I have gained 4 lbs. What a wake up call. Did I already stretch out my pouch? I will call the DR's office Monday morning, but I don't want to go another day without discussing this with someone in the know. Like I said, I have been going on eating like a lot 3-4 cups maybe??? I don't know...I didn't keep track anyway did I already do irreversible damage to the pouch? Has it already stretched out? Grrr I can't believe I have been this reckless ..after how good I've been and weight I have lost....If anyone can answer and help me I would appreciate it. Is it just that I need another fill? The last fill I had in April, I thought was the last one I would need. I need some answers. LOL I am really stressing. Thank you in advance, evh
  3. Hi again to all, Well, at 5:30 AM Friday MT time....I will having lap band surgery. It is really here, wow. I am so excited, and if I can figure out to get around on this site, LOL, I will post within the next few days. Wish me luck...I know this is such the right decision. Good nite everyone, I have an early morning
  4. Thanks everyone for the replies. I so appreciate it.... I am going in Friday for surgery, so that means I can quit drinking Optifast Thursday night. OMG....not good stuff at all, but am drinking it, as it is a small thing compared to what this banding is going to do for me. Take care all, and I will be chatting again after surgery. , EVH

    On My Way

Hi lwiggins , I am also right about at the same place you are. I have my surgery Dec. 6th, and am getting pretty nervous. I have had enough of this Optifast to last me forever. (Had to be on it for 10 days per Docs orders) I am resigned that I will lose the weight as this is not only the last resort, but the tool that will help me to help myself. Although very scared, I can't wait till I can start treating myself to some healthy living. And a life style I only dream of. This weight has my bones, joints hurting, and I pray that this will help me like I think it will. Good luck to you. , EVH

    Silly Question

This is not a silly question at all. I have my surgery next Friday and I bought a package at Dollar Tree yesterday. Go for it, what can it hurt. Good luck. , EVH
  7. You know, I wasn't given a choice when I went to my last nutritional meeting, they gave me a prescription to go to the hospital pharmacy and buy Optifast. The only choice I had is how many vanilla and how many chocolate shakes. So I chose 20 chocolate and 10 vanilla. I could also choose tomato or chicken Soup. I chose chicken. ALL I CAN SAY IS I AM GLAD I DON'T NEED TO BE ON THEM FOR MORE THAN TEN DAYS. It really is doable, but only because I know if I didn't I would not be able to have the surgery. My doctor told me that he can tell as soon as he cuts, if I have been eating or not. Something about the inside of the skin.... who know...I am just not going to chance it. Now if you are given a choice, then I have heard where Slim Fast isn't so bad..... again I don't know for sure, as I think through out my years of dieting and trying it all, I have tried it, but don't remember how it tastes. I hope this help you...good luck with the presurgery diet!! Hugs, EVH
  8. Thank you for your welcomes. This site is a little overwhelming....I think I already messed up. I think I should have put my journey message on about me or something. Oh well, thanks so much for the replies. I like this site already. EVH
  9. Hi to all and thank you for taking the time to read this. I just found this site and have read a lot of the threads...liked what I saw, so I enrolled. I would like to share a little of my journey... I have been thinking of the lap band for a couple of years, but I knew my insurance wouldn't pay for it unless I went to a Center of Excellence, which was over 400 miles away and I didn't feel comfortable traveling that far, and or going to a physician I didn't know. I wanted to stay in my own environment and have the Dr. that I was very familiar with do the surgery. With that said, I really don't think I was as ready as I thought I was, two years ago......and was making excuses. Well, I reconsidered and looked into the lap band again in July. I was sent papers and completed them and went to the Dr. visit at the other side of the state. He said it was a go, and I started the preliminaries for the lap band. My insurance required me to go through a four month nutrition course here, so I did that, and about 3 months into the nutrition course, my insurance said they would pay for the surgery here in my home town. Yahoo!!!! I am so happy!!!! I started on the pre-op diet two days ago, Tuesday, November 26. The Opti-Fast hasn't been too bad, I have two more today and then done with the 2nd day. I enjoyed fixing Thanksgiving today but I have to admit, it did take some restraint not to eat. I have a choice of a shake, chicken or tomato Soup, and a chocolate bar. I wouldn't want to be on the preop diet for long.....but I think I can handle 10 days. My surgery is December 6th, and I am very, very excited!! I am an "older" banner. But doctor said that it still doesn't make a difference...it is a minimal risk surgery, and doesn't take as long to recoup. I am 67 years old with bad hips, back, RA, fibromyalgia and had a stroke. So this is a necessity. I have around 45-50 pounds to lose, which I know isn't as much as it could be, but for me and my health problems, it is a matter of quality of life, and not so much less pain every day. I must say, I am quite nervous but I really believe this is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Wish me luck.... a week till surgery...yikes!!! I didn't mean to go on and on so will close. Thanks you for reading this, and I wish only the best to all who has started this journey, or who has completed it and are so happy with the joys that your new life has brought you. , EVH
