  1. Drinking is definitely a weird experience- best for me to go slow and avoid super cold drinks. Having my first post-op protein shake now- so far the sensation is quite similar to the clear liquids.
  2. Home from the hospital but feeling cranky- nurse had the pharmacy hours wrong and it was closed by the time we got there so I couldn't get my liquid painkiller and none of the other 5 nearby pharmacies had it. Finally gave up and called my surgeon's office and they paged him and he called me in something that my regular pharmacy carries. My mom is out now picking it up and I am so looking forward to the next dose! Not in terrible pain but very achy and sore and having trouble getting into a comfortable position. Recliner feels best but then I have to keep pushing off my cat, who is dying to sit in my lap. Drinking some vitamin water zero to keep hydrated which is ok as long as I go slow. Hope everything has a good night!
  3. Hi! I am doing good- some discomfort but not awful. Walking a lot in the hopes it will help. I hope all my buddies are ok!
  4. Today is our day! I head to the hospital in less than an hour. I will be keeping all my buddies in my prayers and I look forward to hearing how everyone is doing as we begin the next stage of our journeys!
  5. Hi June 30th buddies! Less than 48 hours to go! My surgery is at 10:30am and I have to be at the hospital at 8:30am. My pre-op diet included vegetables for the first 5 days, which was great, but now it is 3 shakes/day and Clear liquids only for the final two days. I feel a little weak but ok. I was quite hungry so I heated up a big bowl of vegetable broth and that is definitely helping. Has anyone starting packing for the hospital yet or shopping for the first few days at home? Here are my lists: hospital: phone and charger vaseline or chapstick magazine (for the pre-op waiting room) gas-x strips small pillow for the car ride home what I bought for the first few days: Vitamin Water zero small disposable cups crystal light vegetable broth sugar-free Jello sugar-free popsicles decaf teabags What's on your list? I hope everyone is managing the pre-op jitters ok!
  6. I think you have to be completely naked under the hospital gown to preserve the sterile environment of the operating room.
  7. Day 4 of the pre-op diet for me. I am allowed raw veggies for the first 5 days and that helps me from feeling ravenous. Monday here we come!
  8. Can you believe we only have one week left? Excited and scared! We seem to have a bunch of different threads for the June 30th sleevers club- I have tried to keep a list- if you are missing, please introduce yourself! @@sobrien89 @@eagles321 @@ChronicJam @@steph0315 @@cybergirl5710 @@mrbobb @@Denise73 @@BrwnsugabayB @@sjohnston222 @@DarbiMolly @@2aBetterMe @@CHRISTINERN @@kim137 @@50lbstogo @@ankinray @@erlo54 @@knippenjen42 @@tamcat44 @[member=CalDJones" @@livingmore @@Lissapmkn1 (and me @tiredmama )
  9. My surgery is in 8 days and I have also been feeling a lot of mixed emotions and not sleeping well at night from the anxiety.
  10. Hi June 30 buddies! My pre-op diet is one week so I start Monday. 3 shakes a day and unlimited non-starchy vegetables until 3 days before surgery, when it's just shakes. My biggest worry is the potential for a migraine b/c I can't take my regular migraine med anymore (causes gastritis) and Tylenol isn't effective for me.
  11. So glad to have others the June 30th club- makes me less nervous somehow!
  12. I have KHPE and they are covering my surgery. Does your plan have a specific exclusion? Ask your surgeon's office for the procedure code and call member services and have them look up that specific code. Good luck!

  19. If you write a blog post http://babeimsleevin.blogspot.com/2014/06/yesallwomen.html that implicates your mother but then you feel guilty about doing so, does that make it ok? :-) For those of you who also have deep baggage related to your weight from your childhood, how have you learned to cope with it?
  20. There are 8 of us on here with that date- welcome!
  21. Welcome to @@CHRISTINERN who is also June 30th!
  22. I am in the suburbs- my surgery is June 30th at Abington Hospital.
  23. I am struggling with my pre-surgery eating too. I've reduced my caffeine intake significantly and I am trying to stay away from total junk but it is tough! I have started drinking a Protein shake first thing in the morning, which does seem to help me stay on track during the first few hours of the day. The afternoon is a whole other story...
