Washington State Pals for The Seattle Seahawks
I love the Seahawks too, but not enough for that situation. Well, let's be honest, I had to work, but I did watch the live feed on my 2nd monitor while I worked on a spreadsheet. .. shh don't tell my boss. My 17 yr old son went with a few of his buddies and a parental unit. He said that parking was $50, so the Dad parked illegally and the cops didn't say a word, no parking tickets today I guess, bigger fish to fry. He did say he saw a woman go crazy and start throwing elbows to get out of the crowd. ..

Not Covered! Any Luck on Appeals?
I have an exclusion, I am selfpay, my HR even investigated getting WLS added on for this year, but we just didn't have the buying power. We only have 400 employees. A big company down the street that makes Commercial Aircraft, yes that one, is said to "give out weight loss surgery like candy" I even had someone ask me why didn't I just go work for them to get the surgery. .. But I am happily employed where I am.

Tell me about your required pre-op diet
Oh good on the decaf, I love Tazo Passion! No restriction on the SF sweeteners, but I have seen others pals say that certain sweeteners block their weight loss... I use them all...

nightmares about food
I used to dream about raw meat when I was pregnant, it was awful because it would make me sick, I would wake up gagging. Thankfully i never puked in bed! ( sorry tmi) I think this is the brain trying to find out why we don't eat that thing anymore, it gave us so much pleasure, maybe we just need a reminder? Darn pleasure centers! Oh I didn't crave raw meat while I was pregnant, I could barely stand it because I could smell it at 100 yds! (LOL) And I am a serious meat eater! So far no weird dreams about the surgery, I am in for my last consult this week then the hit the ground running on my tests and hoped to be sleeved in March. I am sure I will have a few weird dreams before this is over!

Tell me about your required pre-op diet
No decaf tea? Hmmm.... did they say why no decaf? Maybe because it would be a temptation to sweeten it ( assuming full sugar? ) No controls on what type of sugar free sweetener?

Any Washington State Sleevers?
I am consulting with Dr Landerholm on Thursday, May I ask are you selfpay? If you are, do you know if they use BLIS or a similar self pay complication insurance policy?

Chia seeds
Chi's seeds absorb liquid and turn gelatin-ish, I know of a recipe to make "pudding" by mixing milk and chia seeds with flavoring (fruit, chocolate, etc.) and letting it sit until it firms. I bet they are recommending it because this Gelatin might make someone feel full, I would think this isn't good for avoiding sleeve stretch. That being said, Women's World is not the best diet advice, they always have different diets each month and some make crazy claims like " lose 60 lbs from your belly!", it just seems like they are trying take advantage of prople who want lose weight. Maybe contacting your nut to discuss your current weight loss effort would be helpful?

sleeve size
In my consult with my surgeon I asked about the bougie size she uses, she explained that the size of the bougie doesn't neccesarily equal the size of the sleeve. Other factors affect the size, like your surgeon cutting directly against the bougie or a set distance from it, or the surgeon, with your stomach in his hands so to speak, sees something that makes him shape it differently, etc. Buy she did say that most sleeves are within a certaiin accepted range and the expectation is around 3 to 4 ounces immediately following surgery, if I remember correctly So my understanding is yes, the sizes can different based upon the surgeon and the patient. But you should ask your surgeon.

Tasting Room - Protein Drinks
Hi Everyone, So I have seen about a gajillion posts from pals who need suggestions for Protein drinks, and the responses are always so helpful with suggestions of specific brands and sometimes websites where to find them. But many times we just say, I like this one or this is one I can tolerate. As I have read them I was thinking about all of these different drinks/broths that I have never tried, so I decided to give some of them a try for myself, not only in preparation of the dreaded pre-op diet but also for post-op . Here is my list (which includes ones I have tried so far ;-D): Now - when I was on a medically supervised diet two years ago I got hooked on Syntrax nectar powder mixes that my Doctor sold - I always stuck with chocolate Truffle and vanilla Bean Torte. I like them both, but my favorite is the Chocolate Truffle. I use it as both a quick Breakfast and a dessert. The Chocolate Truffle is a rich chocolate flavor without being too cloying. The powder mixes well with a spoon and perfectly with a mixer tumbler. The vanilla is great too and worked great as a mix in with plain greek yogurt. The vanilla bean is also a mellow not overpowering flavor which I like. I have never detected an aftertaste with either of these flavors, from the sweeteners or the protein base. Although I always like to drink Water immediately after but that may just be a me and milk thing, I have done that. I have also tried Syntrax Mint Cookie - I had it my head that it would be like my favorite ice cream, Chocolate Mint Chip, if I blended it with extra ice. And, well, no. But it was good, not too sweet and had a reasonable amount of mint chip flavor - I think I just built it up in my head. I need to get over the ice cream thing I guess... Premiere Protein Chocolate RTD (single serve tetrapac from Costco) - I just tried this one, chilled ice cold, an it was delish, thick and rich, it reminded me of drinking liquid pudding. I could see that someone could get tired of it if it was consumed three or four times a day for several days - or if you're like me and chocolate pudding is heaven in a cup - you may love it... So my thought is this - whatever Protein Drinks you have tried - please post a tasting review of them here. Give a recent review which mentions why you like or dislike the product. How is the flavor - is this your go-to drink? If you didn't like it, why not? If you hate it - what drink do you like? In support of this effort, I went to a few different websites (all recommended by fellow pals - thanks!) and ordered several sample packs of different brands and types, I have even ordered samples of the water based protein drinks from lemonade to chicken broth, as I receive them and try them I will post here and I invite you to do the same. Thanks everyone!

Tell me about your required pre-op diet
I have been wanting to try a pre-op diet before I have even scheduled the surgery (I have my second consult this week). I think I will try yours - maybe we can check in next week?

Did you keep it a secret?
Regarding telling your work, you are under no obligation to tell them anything more than "I am having a medical procedure that requires X weeks of recovery, thank you for your concern and kindness but I would rather not discuss the details" if they give you any trouble, have a Doctor write you a note, with no specifics, just the medical procedure with X weeks off. I am a office type person so I am having surgery on a Thurs, and not coming back till the next Monday. A total of 8 work days off.

Washington State Pals for The Seattle Seahawks
Oh 2muchfun, I was thinking of you yesterday! I have to say, that while I wanted the Seahawks to win, I would never have wished a piece of "near shut out cheesecake" on you, that is just cruel and unusual punishment! Hopefully it was cheesecake flavored greek yogurt?

what to drink?
Funny! We are such Starbucks/Coffee snobs up here, it is all about the proper lingo, I have seen people shamed for not ordering "correctly". Glad to hear it is not like that everywhere! They can be so literal I am certain they would add both if I didn't clarify. They would probably think, oh she likes double sweet, but not the extra calories :-D
-
what to drink?
That order needs to say " no classic" or "no syrup" to ensure they don't add their simple syrup which is a sugar Water syrup. Sorry, I'm from the Seattle area, we take our Starbucks lingo very seriously up here ;-D For example: Venti Iced Passion Tea No Classic Light Ice (or no ice) Hope that helps :-D
