ABLOND reacted to pink dahlia in Help not loosing weight after lap band surgery
Advice ? Yes, give yourself a big hug and a pat on the back !!! You have lost 25 lbs in 5 months, or an average of 1.4 lbs a WEEK ! !! That is very healthy "normal" progress, as 1-2 lbs a week is usually whats recommended. CONGRATULATIONS ! Keep up the good work !

ABLOND got a reaction from Ga Gurl in Help!
Hang in there....I felt the same feelings you are having I had a fill in May - lost 10lbs the first week and 1/2 then nothing for 6 weeks...asked my doc for a 1/2 cc (total of 8) and can tell a difference. Do I still have to stop myself from picking pu the bag of chocolate and devouring it - you bet I do...but thankfully with the lap band I CAN DO IT!!!! It helps me make better, healthier decisions....and for that I am forever thankful. Do I still get feelings of doubt? I sure do...but I also know that if I eat healthy and continue to take my daily walks that I CAN and WILL lose this weight I've carried all my life.
You will find this forum to be very helpful and encouraging. So keep coming back here when you have questions/fears/anxieties...

I find that my band is much tighter of the morning...as the day wears on, I too get hungrier and can eat more at the evening meal than I've eaten all day.....
I would love to find a couple weeks worth of "menus" for folks that have had lap band surgery....I suck at figuring all this out and find myself eating the same thing over and over and I know I'm gonna burn out soon...

Thanks! It has been difficult and I know this is going to take time! I have 4 children and I don't like the fact that I have to deny them certain foods cause I don't have enough self control to say no!! How long did it take you to get in a grove and stay there! I'm having a hard time with the no liquids 30 mins before/during/and after meals! I really hate that part!!

ABLOND got a reaction from Cincha300 in 4th Fill
and let me tell you do NOT make the mistake of eating after a fill....last fill I got, that next morning I was going to eat some yogurt so I could take my meds, well the yogurt had small pieces of peaches in them, it got stuck and I was MISERABLE for about 3 hours....I'll never ever do that again....

ABLOND got a reaction from 2muchfun in first fill next week!
you're not even gonna feel the needle. my doctor rubs something on my skin that numbs it within seconds...so I never feel a thing..and everyone else I've seen talking about it on here their doc does the same...so no worries...

@@LapbandKAB I understand your frustration, finding that optimal level is not an easy thing but it sounds like you are in that green zone maybe even teetering in the red zone a bit.
I agree with @@enjoythetime if you can give us some idea of what your eating on the daily we might be able to give some advice to assist. What concerns me is your comment "I realize I have to do some of the work and the band is just the tool but darn it, if I could control my eating, I wouldn't have needed the band in the first place. So, I just expect the band to do more for me than what it is doing right now."
I'm not sure what you expect the band to do for you if you can not control your eating. The band can not control your mind, it won't stop you from putting food into your mouth if you are not hungry. If you are feeling hungry I would ask you is it true "hunger" or is it head hunger or emotional hunger? Are you trying to feed something other than the actual need for food to fuel your body?
Those are big issues for all of us, and no matter what WLS you have band, sleeve, bypass you are going to encounter the same issues. These surgeries only affect your stomach not your mind, only you can control your behaviors.
We are here for support, trust me I know I have emotional eating issues myself. My band works perfectly it's my head that tells me I am hungry most often when I know physically there is no way I could be. I can feel full to the point of extreme and still want to eat something or snack on something because emotionally something is missing for me. It's not always easy to figure out what it is either...sometimes I am successful at it and other times it's a real struggle and other times a total failure and I just give in.
No one of us is perfect that's why we are all here If we can be of help let us know.

This lapband is gonna drive me to drink. I had my fifth fill on April 30th and I thought I might finally be in the elusive green zone. I wasn't able to eat a lot and lost several pounds. I loved it. Here we are, June 4, and little by little I find I can eat more and more and the weight loss has slowed to nothing. I'm going back on June 25 for my next appt. But, because I lost several pounds just after the last fill, I know my Dr will hesitate to add anything. Even though I tell him I lost it all in the two weeks following the last fill and none since. I do find I have some days where I can eat normally and other days where I can't eat much and feel like I'm going to PB or vomit. It's all just so wishy washy. I almost wish now that I'd gone with the sleeve. I guess I'm not really asking particular questions here, I'm just frustrated. I wonder if this thing will ever get adjusted perfectly and I'll be in the green zone with steady weight loss occurring (slow loss is fine as long as it it steady). It is frustrating having a very conservative Dr because I'm a Kaiser Permanente patient and each time I see the WLS Dr, I need to get a referral approved by Kaiser. Of course, I'm reasonable and don't want him to add if it means I'll vomit. I realize I have to do some of the work and the band is just the tool but darn it, if I could control my eating, I wouldn't have needed the band in the first place. So, I just expect the band to do more for me than what it is doing right now. Thanks for listening.

Girl I feel your pain. I got a fill 2 weeks ago and I only THOUGHT I knew what sliming was...let me tell you, I've only made it thru maybe 2 or 3 days of not having a stuck episode. And these are "episodes" like I've never had before my band was properly adjusted. Before it might hurt for 5 minutes, shoot the first episode I had after my fill lasted 2.5 HOURS..I thought I was gonna die and may have even prayed that I would...lol
On the bright side, the pounds are coming off rather nicely...now if I could just remember to chew chew chew and slow down...lol
BTW...what/how much food are you eating now if I may ask?
