Well I am glad thanksgiving is over!! Getting all of us in one location at once has been known to attract coyotes....
I have not ha surgery so I ate like a queen and enjoyed it, as this will be my last holiday pig out ever!

I'm just curious as to what they base that off of? I mean at what weight do they say you need to loose weight for the surgery? Do they all say that? Why do they want you to loose? It confuses me!!

So I am just going to throw out the opinion that this thread could be asking for trouble.
We all na-na-KNOW (sorry about my stutter there, haven't had my coffee yet) that some people see THEIR opinion as facts and there is no medical journal or expert that can tell them any different. We have them on all the boards, so let's hope they don't find their way here.
If so, I'm claiming all rights to the refreshment stand and I have a feeling I may be making some serious bank!

I just got home from yet another seminar and it was so fun hearing everyone's stories, it never gets old. I'm kinda in the same boat. Lol! I came into this not knowing what I wanted. Then I have been flopping back and forth between the band and RNY. I stopped at my sister in laws house who is an RN at Kaiser who works in bariatrics. We had a glass of wine and shot the breeze. Oh how I will miss wine....

I agree with that. Yes the band is more maintenance but if complications occur like in any WLS (heaven forbid) ITs reversible and taken out and your back to normal. Plus it's now an outpatient procedure which appeals to me because I have a high demand job and have 2 kids and a husband and I need to get in and get in with my life!!
My sister in law had bypass last year and has lost 118 lbs and looks amazing! However she lost hair, became nutrient deficient, got a hernia and had to go back in for hernia surgery.

I agree, this whole thing I scary. It's terrifying actually. The weird thing is, I'm not scared of surgery, I'm scared of life after surgery!!!
I agree that all surgery is risky but for me, personally I would not like half my stomach to be lined with staples..freaks me out! At least with Gastric you don't have as many staples and area for seepage. I also see lots of band bashing on here too so to each their own
I have seen lots of people on here who have been sleeved and lost a ton of weight and that's awesome and must be a great feeling to finally shed that skin. Best of luck to everyone!

I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you! I hope I get approved.. I was reading an arrival that they are/had lowered the BMI requirements for lap band. I don't know why they have to decide what I can and can't do with my body though...

Omgosh! I'm going to Dr. Eslami too!! I have not met him yet. Have you? How is he? Doesn't he also have an office in Folsom? I kinds wanna go to Folsom cause it's like 45 min closer..

My Surgeon is Dr. Eslami. He is going to be performing the surgery at Methodist and its through Hills Physicians Insurance...Glad to see I got some response to this post...

I anyone in the Sierra Nevada Foothills? I'm in Auburn Ca and am just starting my lap band journey!
