Bonogirl got a reaction from able2cope in 44 and sending fat out the door!
I had my vertical sleeve surgery on 11/11/13. I had to do the pre-op diet and that was tough but worth all the efforts to have the surgery. I am 8 days post-op and feel so much better. The surgery day is tough but remember every day got so much better. Think of the goal. I am 45 years old and it's time I take my life back. Your surgery was today and I wish you the best of luck. Move as much as you can. My biggest pain and problem after surgery was the gas pain, it felt like chest pain and severe back/shoulder pain. It got much better, especially after 1 week after surgery. I will look forward to your progress. From Bonogirl.

Bonogirl got a reaction from rhw94123 in November 11Th Sleevers
I am an 11/11/13 vertical sleeve pt also. I had my surgery done in Wyandotte, MI. The first day was rough, my pulse was in the 39-50 range and the monitor kept beeping. Anytime I would move it would go in the normal limits. I couldn't get much sleep with the monitor beeping and so I found that if I walked I could keep the pulse up (the monitor from beeping), keep the SCD stockings off and get on my way home faster. Went home the next evening and no more pain meds. The gas pain in my shoulders and chest pain from gas was bad but it mostly gone now. It took about 3 days to get lower than me pre surgery weight due to all the Water weight. The small amounts of food I can have tastes wonderful and I'm waiting to upgrade the diet weekly. The walking is going well and I feel almost normal. I am wishing everyone health and success on our wonderful journey together. I am 5'4", was 303lbs at my heaviest, now at 274lbs and can't wait to be able to move this body easier and be healthier. Good luck to all.

Hi, my name is Robyn and I had my vertical sleeve surgery on 11/11/13. I have lived through the first week, the gas pain and am feeling almost normal. It was wonderful to eat some grits and oatmeal and not feeling hungry all the time. The 2 week diet prior to surgery was something I did because that was what was required. It was tough, I felt hungry most of the time, was discouraged that the weight seemed to slowly change but was nothing compared to what I thought it would be with so little intake. The gas pain after the surgery was the worst of the surgery but that changed and became better every day. I am looking forward to slowly increasing the food options and continuing to eat to live. I am a food lover but am very dedicated to my rebirth of a better me. Congratulations to all of you in your weight loss.
